25.01.2022 This coming Saturday afternoon is shaping up to be one of those beautiful evenings on the water not to be missed! With a great moon phase to boot, it should also be a fishy one. Contact us now if you've been thinking about a guided session and available Saturday, it won't last long. Tight lines Shaun
25.01.2022 What an epic fishing session with these two legends last night! Fishing from their tinny in 7m of water, Sam and Tyron bagged out on quality Snapper in quick time. Double hookups were all the rage as four good fish went home in the eski and two were released in what can only be described as 40 minutes of mayhem! Well done guys. I look forward to hearing of your future successful trips in the not too distant future. Tight lines Shaun
24.01.2022 Snappy New Year everyone!
23.01.2022 Had a pearler of a tinny session a few nights back, proving you don't need a big boat to catch big fish! Young Toby was first on the score board with a cracker Snapper, his new P.B. Well done Toby Not to be outdone, Damo came up trumps with a real solid fish after a stunning sunset! Tight lines Shaun
23.01.2022 The mornings will be more and more rewarding over the coming 6 months, for those willing to brave the chillier conditions. I had a great morning myself the other day. Nothing huge but still good fun. Tight lines
23.01.2022 Some pictures from last weekend's session out from Ocean reef. After checking out some different types of ground on the sounder, we anchored in fairly shallow water for sunset. Wasn't long until Lee had his first Snapper on board. He ended up landing a couple of crackers to 80cm, then we left them biting. Look forward to seeing pictures of your future successful missions Lee. Tight lines Shaun
22.01.2022 Jimmy putting the wood on a good Skippy. Awesome fun on light tackle!
21.01.2022 With great winds between storm fronts and more big fish inshore. Winter is a great time to target good Snapper like this one from a few nights ago. If you would like to improve you knowledge on how to target these, any other fish or your general boating skills, contact me to organise a session. Tight lines
21.01.2022 A year ago today. Richie caught this magnificent Lontail Tuna whilst on a boat session targeting Snapper just behind Garden Island. You never know what may take a well presented bait and hopefully we get some more great weather coming up between storms. Tight lines
20.01.2022 The smile says it all! Such a great fish which put up a good scrap in 9m. Tight lines Shaun

19.01.2022 Fresh Spanish Mackerel on toast, does it get any better? Some say it is better after being frozen?? I simply vac sealed and marinated it in a little home made spice mix and oil, then pan fried on medium heat. Add some butter half way and spoon the sizzling butter over the top as it cooks. As with steak, I always cook from just on room temp and remove from heat before fully cooked through. Let it rest a little, while it finishes cooking in its own heat and molten butter.... Simple and delicious!
18.01.2022 16kg Spanish Mackerel! Caught off Rockingham on a Halco rooster popper, using 15lb braid and fluro leader. With the easing of restrictions, it's now possible to get out for a fish. I am hoping to get out as soon as possible, with all those who have been waiting for a session. Last night I took my mate Blake out for an impromptu Snapper fish. While we did catch a few Snapper, along with a small Shark, a Salmon and even a Swallow tail, by far the capture of the day was this... magnificent Spanish Mackerel. Shortly after anchoring a monster Spaniard of maybe 20-30kg, launched itself many meters into the air not far from us. Half an hour later we saw this fish do the same, this time, quick thinking Blake was onto it and cast his 105 Halco rooster towards the beast. A few casts later I watched as the tranquility of the glass like ocean surface was disturbed, this magnificent beast inhaled the lure and took off for the horizon! Blake kept his cool under pressure and worked the fish on the light gear, until it was well tired and could be landed safely. A truly epic experience, thanks Blake. Tight lines Shaun
18.01.2022 Fresh Squid rings lightly coated in spices and fried in butter. Simply marvelous!! Pat dry fresh Squid rings and lightly coat in cracked pink salt and Kashmiri Magic from @spicefetish in the Swan valley. Heat a good amount of butter in a red hot pan until it starts to brown on the bottom. Add Squid and constantly mix around until clear just turns to white. DON'T OVER COOK IT!!! Top with a small squeeze of lime juice and enjoy ... Shaun See more

17.01.2022 Life is most precious! Be prepared and stay alive Best trophy I ever won was this life cell from @midwaymarine. It has my EPIRB attached and inside I keep, 2 sets of offshore flares, handheld 27meg radio, a bright LED light, a torch, whistle, 2 dye markers, muesli bars and a water bottle. Keep safe on the water and tight lines Shaun
17.01.2022 Had an awesome evening out with a great bloke the other night. We found some likely looking ground in 8m of water, ran though positioning the boat, bait, burley and rigs before settling in. Didn't take long though and Bradley had his first big Snapper on board, then his second along with a smaller one. Proves that you don't need a big boat or go far to catch great fish. Nice work Bradley
16.01.2022 For those who live and fish up North, please read the article about potentially toxic microscopic algae! Seems it also happened last year in December, which is a concern. Tight lines and stay safe Shaun https://www.communitynews.com.au//health-department-issue/
15.01.2022 Mulloway recapture! Unfortunately it was only free for a few weeks and the person chose not to rerelease the fish, so no information will be learnt. It's a personal choice to keep any fish, tagged or not. If you do catch a fish that has been tagged, please consider rereleasing it and pass on the information to Westag regardless. Tight lines Shaun
14.01.2022 Happy Father's day to all the Dads out there. I hope you got to spend some quality time with your loved ones! Tight lines Shaun
13.01.2022 Californian Squid makes a great offshore bait & is too expensive to waste! If you aren't going to use the whole 2.27kg in one day. Slightly defrost your block when you get home until you are able to split it into two, then refreeze in separate bags When fishing you can keep one frozen just in case you need it, that way you don't waste bait and valuable $$$$!! Refrozen, fully defrosted Squid baits at the end of the day are not attractive to most fish! Tight lines Shaun
11.01.2022 A cracking day Bream fishing down south today! My mate and I caught five fish each between 30 and 40cm, such great fun! Tight lines Shaun

08.01.2022 Please check out my visitor posts above from previous clients. Guided boat fishing trips. These trips run for a minimum of 4hrs and are conducted in your own boat. Trips are tailored to suit individual needs. All bait, burley and tackle are provided.... The reason we go in your own boat is so I can teach you as the skipper, how to successfully use what you have to catch fish in a way that you can repeat time and time again. Even if you have a tinny without a sounder or GPS as I did for years, you can still catch great fish! A guided boat fishing trip will teach you: - Boat launch and retrieve tips, - Tackle, knots, rigs, bait and burley selection, - Tides, Moon phases, ideal weather conditions and best times of the year to target your desired species, - Fish behaviours and fishing spot selection, - How to interpret marine charts and what to look for when selecting a fishing area, - How to read you own sounder and what you should be looking for, - Fresh local bait collection and preparation for use or storage, - How and where to anchor or set up for a drift on a selected spot, - The actual fishing for your selected target species, - Advice on how to care, clean and cook your catch, - State recreational fishing rules and more. All fish kept within state rules can be cleaned for you and are yours to take home. Extended trips of 6-8hrs for ground searching, trolling, bottom fishing out wider, anchor fishing for demersals or Mulloway can be tailored to suit. Ongoing 10% discount for repeat bookings. Rewards for clients who successfully refer a friend. Contact me via phone or message for current promotions and prices. www.perthguidedfishing.com.au
07.01.2022 It's great to be a part of fish research for the future. Tagging fish for Westag, helps us learn movements and growth rates of key species like this chunky little Snapper. Tight lines
07.01.2022 This last week has reminded me why Autumn to Spring are the best seasons to fish for inshore Snapper, Dhu ect. Having fished 4 out of the last 5 days of perfect weather. Many, many Snapper have been caught. If you too would like to learn how to catch Snapper like these, contact me and I will show you how. Tight lines
05.01.2022 Wow! What a last week of fishing before the ban takes place tomorrow. Some cracking Snapper boated on the inshore reefs. Many of them released like these two 70cm barrels, that now have Westag tags in them. Looking forward to seeing how much they grow before recapture, hopefully many years from now Tight lines Shaun
