What creative endeavours did all you Perth Makers get up to?... Also, a friendly invitation to come hang out with us on our Slack chat here: https://space.artifactory.org.au/slack

24.01.2022 Having a diverse membership is important to the Perth Aritfactory. While we definitely have more male than female members currently, it's in our best interests to help foster a welcoming and productive environment to those of all genders and sexes. If you're interested in the Perth Artifactory, please leave a comment below or throw us a Message. We're here all day! If you'd like a 15 minute lesson on using a welder, we can do that too! It's not just a boy's club thing!

21.01.2022 Two part silicone die molds? It's easier than you think! Here's a begginer attempt at casting a D20 in pewter. Cost and parts for a quick dice casting project: $38 - 500ml pinkysil (will make about 4 of these molds) $4 - Talcum powder... $6 - Clay Add your choice of resin($25/L)/wax(recycled)/pewter(recycled) and you can make d20's till the cows come home. While not rated foodsafe, you could totally pour molten sugar or chocolate in here too if you were feeling particularly brave. You should join our Slack and chat with us about how we're such a great place to learn how to do things like this (https://space.artifactory.org.au/slack)

18.01.2022 Who's excited for Supanova 2021? We definitely are! Make sure to stop by and say hi, check out some cool demonstrations and maybe even pick up your very own DIY kit!

18.01.2022 Make-it with Micro:bit - School Holiday Workshop Age : 8 - 13yrs Build a digital balance. No previous experience required - just bring your imagination.

17.01.2022 Here's a fun little experiment to test how fine the Photon's we have can print. This is a 3mm tall boaty (and a grubby finger). It took 52 minutes to print! On further investigation under a microscope, there is a steering wheel inside, the chimney has a hole, and the little socket for the flagpole at the back even printed correctly!... While I've got your attention, The Perth Artifactory is open as per usual for visitors and interested parties. Got a project or maker-aspirations? Come visit us on Saturday! We'll be busy cleaning the space for y'all.

17.01.2022 Don't forget to grab your tickets before its too late folks! we're only 5 days away from the 10th edition of the Artifrag, we hope to see you there!

17.01.2022 Power Tools, Power Tools Ryobi demonstration day starts....soon. https://fb.me/e/67VUVz0Qe

17.01.2022 I need you all to know that I spent upwards of 3 hours today trying to get a Photon S 3D printer to install the new firmware because every time I pressed "Return" on the install firmware prompt it would go back to the previous window. I tried different thumbsticks, I tried every version of firmware I could find. I took it apart and put it back together again and spent SO much time googling. I joined multiple facebook groups hoping to ask what the heck I was doing wrong. I gav...e up, and someone else came along and pressed "Enter" at the prompt instead. Anyway we've got some working 3D printers now so you should hit us up if you need some 3D printing done

15.01.2022 Check this out! Nigel's figured out that our lasers can make custom doormats. Aside from a couple of minor flaws, this turned out amazing. We're very impressed!

14.01.2022 Quick reminder that our monthly Open Day is tomorrow June 6th. If you'd like a tour of the space or laser cutter/powertool/3d printer/welding training, Saturday's your day. There's no fee, and no committment, and you don't even have to be a member.... Come give us a visit! We'll be open till about 4. Feel free to message us if you have any questions (https://www.facebook.com/events/887215795008287/) (Oops I linked the wrong event. Fixed!)

14.01.2022 Good morning everyone! We had some fun experimenting on our Open Day Saturday. We wanted to try something that we saw online, casting aluminium into a wooden mold. So out came the foundry (and relevent PPE) Results? Mixed. ... We discovered that Jarrah is a spectacularly bad wood for this. As an oil based tree, Jarrah is quite flammable. It popped and bubbled and caught fire and made a big mess! We now know that we'll have to try again with a less oily hardwood. (Our first picture reminds this poster of a certain famous movie moment)

13.01.2022 Sewingmaschin!!! ? Check our event sections for details. On a side note... What other workshops would you like to see held at the Artifactory?

09.01.2022 Hi folks, I'm trying to gauge if there's any interest in using/hiring our sound-isolated room for voice recording. We've had a few people inquire recently and to be honest, we'd never considered it before. We currently charge $40 for a 3 hour session (Half for members), and we'd consider grabbing a couple of Condenser mic's for recording. Apart from obvious band use, it could be used for podcasts, recorded D&D sesssions, ect.... Your thoughts, you wonderful makers?

09.01.2022 Well well well, what do we have here? FDM printing is coming back to the space!

09.01.2022 Just an update for those that arent aware: We're open as per usual, no mask needed. We will continue to follow all WA Health Dept mandates, and as such require everyone to sign in at the lobby before using the space.

09.01.2022 [intense breakdance battle music intensifies...]

07.01.2022 The Perth Artifactory is seeking expressions of interest in someone(s) taking this unusual modified piano off us. We believe it was designed by somebody in Perth and that there was only a short production run of them. The manufacturer is not known. The layout youll notice is solidly alternating white-black keys all the way up. (Ok.... some of the white keys are red.) The piano is in need of tuning and wed like to see it go to a good home. If you or your organization is interested in it. Please advise us by June 7. Priority is likely to be given to those that can move it.

06.01.2022 The Perth Artifactory Vox VT30 needs a new home, so if any guitar or electric instrument players are wanting a small & portable amplifier, that can go from a whisper to a thunder, please watch the following video and place your bids over at : https://space.artifactory.org.au/slack #voxamp What is this slack thing?
