25.01.2022 CLOSED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY It is with a heavy heart that I announce that we must discontinue physical classes as of midday today. My heart is truly breaking however, unfortunately this decision was taken out of our hands during the PM address yesterday. I was trying to keep us going for as long as I could to allow our students to retain some normalcy in their lives. I was doing everything I could to keep our safe space open for our students, their second home. However,... COVID-19 is bigger than we are and no amount of sanitising, cleaning and social distancing would allow us to continue past this point. Our dance family will be receiving an email today with more details regarding our next steps to allow our students to keep dancing at home. Our dance family is my heart and soul and I am truly thankful for every one of our parents who puts their trust in our faculty to give their child the gift of dance. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my incredible team for all that you do for our students! During this time, I encourage you to enjoy these precious moments with your family. Hug them a little tighter, take a moment to appreciate those little things that make you smile, love a little deeper and take this opportunity to spend time with one another. Encourage your children to stay physically active and to chat openly about how this is effecting them. It is important that we nurture a positive mindset in these challenging times. Your ongoing support through these difficult times is greatly appreciated. When things begin to return to normal, we look forward to seeing you all again in the studio with your dancing shoes on, ready to show the world that dance creates strength, resilience and the greatest sense of togetherness and love than you will find anywhere else in the world. 23.01.2022 Calf raises are SO important in injury prevention and its why they are incorporated into all of our jazz, ballet, acrobatics and strength classes. PLUS all of our competitive students are recommended to be doing them as much as possible. Injury prevention is a huge priority in our studio as our young dancers have to live with their body far beyond their dancing days!

Ticket sales are open (limited to families only), rehearsals begin this Saturday (all students required), costumes are being handed out next week, stockings and shoes need to be purchased ASAP. 20.01.2022 Perth Circus & Dance Academy : Staying open 20 March We have taken on advice from the government and we are continually modifying processes accordingly, to ensure we are compliant as an industry. At this stage, studios that remain open, meet the social distancing requirements of 4 square meters per person over our dance studio(s). Reception areas / waiting rooms are now closed. Classes will finish a few minutes early to ensure we can take students safely to the carers / adu...lt collection points. As we are sure you are aware, dance studios are reliant on students tuition fees, which are vital to maintain operations and pay teachers. This being said, Term 2 is fast approaching so as per normal, invoicing / payment procedures will remain in place as we are confident we can continue our tuition / providing dance for our students. Classes will continue as per normal until we announce the move to alternatives over a closure period, if requirements from the government are put in place. 20.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM - Teacher Feature #1 BIO MISS AIMEE Head of Ballet ... * WWCC * National Police Clearance * Cert II in Dance studied at WAAPA * Cert III in Dance studied at Charlesworth Institute of Dance Aimees passion for dance began at a very young age. First studying ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary at Jody Burchills Dance in Perspective. It was here she achieved her CSTD advanced theatrical examination and CSTD Advanced Gold Bar (Tap) examination. After many years of dance in different genres, Aimee realised her passion for ballet and strived to achieve success in this area of dance. In 2012 she was offered a position at WAAPA in the certificate II program. Aimee was accepted into a full-time program at the Charlesworth Ballet Institute the same year, where she studied the Vaganova method and achieved a Cert III in Dance. From here, Aimee went on to continue her studies in classical ballet at the WA Conservatoire of Classical Dance. Over this time she studied the RAD syllabus in which she completed her Advanced 1 certificate. She also studied the Cecchetti syllabus in which she also received an Advanced 1 certificate. Aimee was then offered a pre-professional placement with the Victorian State Ballet Company, from which she went on to be promoted to a Young Artist professional position with the company. Upon returning to Perth from a professional career, Aimee has found a passion for teaching and sharing her love and joy of ballet with others.

She was then accepted into John Curtin studying in the specialist ballet program where she performed in seasonal ballets and contemporary pieces. In 2012 she was accepted into Principal Academy of Dance studying many genres which include ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, showgirl and pas de deux. She graduated after two years of full time with her Advanced Diploma. Shannon is experienced in CSTD, ISTD, RAD, ATOD syllabuss. Shannon now enjoys sharing the studio with her students and watching them grow into technical and passionate dancers.

We ask that if your child is well, please encourage them to continue to attend dancing as its important that children retain a sense of normalcy in their lives, not to mention that they should be continuing to remain active and social! For many of our dancers, the studio is a home away from home and is a time that they look forward to most within their week. It is important that students still have this safe plac...e during these unprecedented times of uncertainty. Our staff are implementing increased cleaning and sanitation measures as the health and wellbeing of our dance family and wider community is our top priority! For more information, please see the email sent out to our studio families. Please help us to minimise the risk by actioning the following: * Please keep away for 2 weeks minimum if you or any one youve been in contact with has travelled overseas. * Please use common sense and keep your children at home if they are unwell or a family member is sick. * Please encourage your children to wash their hands often. * Please limit time spent in our waiting area by picking up and dropping children off on time. * Please dont add unnecessary panic and stress. 16.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM - Teacher Feature #2 BIO MISS ELAINA Head of Musical Theatre / Vocals ... * WWCC * National Police Clearance * Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts Elaina OConnor has been performing for as long as she can remember, discovering musical theatre at the age of 12. Elaina was singing as soon as she could talk and took any opportunity to perform on stage. After performing in musicals during her secondary education including The Wedding Singer, The Addams Family, and Grease, where she played the role of Sandy, Elaina went on to study and graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts at APAN Academy. This led to her being fortunate enough to play the role of Elle Woods in the APAN Entertainment production of Legally Blonde in 2018, and Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz 2019. Elaina has also played the lead role of Veronica Sawyer in the Hama Production of Heathers. This show was brought to life at the State Theatre as apart of Perths Fringe Festival 2020. Elaina enjoys bringing roles to life for audiences, and is looking forward to passing on her knowledge learnt through her musical theatre training.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to our first cohort of DanceStep assistants! Perth Circus & Dance Academy is proud to be an Affiliate Partner Studio with DanceStep. This program encourages and empowers our next generation of young leaders by providing opportunities for students to assistant teach within certain classes. Working alongside our dance teachers, assistants also study theory from the DanceStep program, providing valuable knowledge in areas such as Anatomy, Safe Dance, Learning Styles and Musicality.
