24.01.2022 This is a talk I recently gave at a dinner. I received good feedback from it so thought it was worth sharing more widely.

24.01.2022 Same building, new room. Loving the additional space to see mothers with their babies or work with the whole family.

23.01.2022 Helpful advice about repairing your marriage. Often over time marriages can drift and head into rocky territory that can lead to dissatisfaction. Try these steps & notice the change in direction.

22.01.2022 "What produces strong parent child relationships, isnt how our parents raised us, or how many parenting books we have read. Its actually how well we have made sense of our experiences with our own parents and how sensitive we are to our children that most powerfully influence our relationship with our kids, and therefore how well they thrive" The whole brain child, p143. When we reflect on how we were raised and understand the impact this has had on us we can make choices about parenting rather than repeating errors of the past or reacting and doing the opposite.

22.01.2022 Final night of Circle of Security Parenting Course. Thanks to everyone that has come along. I will be running it again at the beginning of term 2 for anyone interested. http://youtu.be/1wpz8m0BFM8

22.01.2022 I spent last week training in the Circle of Security parenting course. I am trained in other methods, but this one is by far my favourite. If you are interested in learning the "circle of security" parenting course send me an email via perth-counselling-service.com.au website. I have my first group starting at the end of this week. I am really looking forward to teaching it to them.

21.01.2022 Next Circle of Security group starts next Tuesday 28/4. It is being held in Bedford and runs for 8 weeks, 7:30-9:00. There are 4 spots left if you would like to join. Its a life changing way of parenting.

20.01.2022 Psychologist Sidney Jourard, observed couples dinning out in several cities and counted the number of times they simply touched each other in an hour. The average was 115 times in Paris, and 185 times in Mexico City. But in London it was zero and USA it was 2. Touch helps us feel more desirable, more cherished, and more intimate emotionally. Why dont you try being more physically affectionate today with your partner and see if it makes any difference to how you feel toward each other.

19.01.2022 Lovely moment in "circle of security" group last night. One of the mums said she had always wondered why her children didnt come in for hugs. Since starting the course she has realised they might have a need on the circle and she hadnt realised. In the last couple of weeks she has had two hugs from her son. This is why I love teaching this course. Clear example of the way information can change relationships for the better.

18.01.2022 The Gottman Institute has been studying human relationships for 30 years. I know I listen to reply sometimes rather than to understand. How about you?

18.01.2022 Do you see the teen years as something to look forward to? There are positives to consider that can encourage both you and your teen

17.01.2022 This week I am completing the training to run the "circle of security" parenting courses. This is to best parenting course out there. Looking forward to opportunities to run it

16.01.2022 Preparing a session to help one of the children I work with to challenge unhelpful ways of thinking.

16.01.2022 Time out is a common technique parents use for behaviour management, but it is often over used and doesnt lead to supporting childrens development. Here is an alternative that is getting more air time with professionals and hopefully parents too.

15.01.2022 Dan Siegel is fast becoming one of favourite authors and neuropsychiatrist. Here's an insight of his on sibling relationships. "Recent studies have found the best predictor for good sibling relationships later in life is how much fun the kids have together when they are young. The rate of conflict can be high, as long as there is plenty of fun to balance it out. The real danger comes when the siblings just ignore each other. However you do it, board games, bike rides, teaming up against parents with water guns, find ways to help your kids have fun together and strengthen the bonds that connect them".

09.01.2022 Two tips to help strengthen your relationship

08.01.2022 Currently on a supervision course and found a quote that resonates with my practice "When you listen generously to people, they can hear the truth in themselves, often for the first time". Rachel Naomi Remes. Thank you to my clients who allow me to be part of the process.

08.01.2022 For 69% of issues between couples there is not right and wrong, just differences in opinion. -Gottmans research

07.01.2022 Been working with a few people struggling with anxiety lately. I read that "97% of things we worry about never come true." One practical suggestion is to put all your worries in a jar leave them for one month and come back to on them. See how many are still issues for you and how many have resolved themselves.
