01.01.2022 By Matt Licata..... In a moment of activation, slow way down. Breathe deeply from your lower belly. Imagine roots growing down from the bottom of your feet and ground into the earth. You are already being held. ... A visitor has come and longs to be met within a field of safety and empathic attunement, where they can disclose their wisdom and their role in the larger ecology of soul. The longing for intimacy, connection, and aliveness will not be found by way of self-abandonment, but only in embodied participation, in relationship, in the alchemical middle territory of intimacy without fusion. The rage, jealousy, despair, shame, confusion, hopelessness, irritation, disappointment, and heartbreak a figure has come looking for you. Not to harm or take you down, but as an ally of wholeness, an emissary of space, a harbinger of integration. The temptation in these moments is to emphasize more insight, more clarity, more understanding, and more awareness. These are essential and can help to loosen identification and prevent flooding. But it is not always more insight and more awareness that heals, that facilitates lasting transformation, and has the power to cut through a lifetime of personal, cultural, and archetypal wounding and misperception. In the end, it’s not insight that heals. It's love that heals. But just what that love is, is something we must each discover within the fire of our immediate, embodied experience. It is not always a love that is sweet, soothing, and confirming but often one that is wild, wrathful, and reorganizing. The images, figures, and feelings who enter the body and psyche in times of transition and challenge are not usually all that interested in our fabulous insights, clarity, and awareness. Nor in our favorite theories, metaphysics, and spiritual philosophies. But rather in our warmth, in our burning, in our breath, in our life force. In the translucence of our interested, curious, embodied presence open, naked, luminous yet overflowing with life like the rainbow in an early evening storm as it dances and discloses in the hills.
