25.01.2022 Do you know which one is which? I know I struggled when I was young to grasp which one was horizontal and which one was vertical. From a young age I have used methods to help me to remember issues that confused me and this was one of them.... It took me a while but to help me remember I discovered a rhyming word - flatitude. Latitude - flatitude - flat - horizontal I never forgot it again.

25.01.2022 As you may have noticed I have not posted much the last two weeks. Life has presented with distractions and it has actually been refreshing to not have the pressure of having to post content. I am thinking I will be more casual about posting going forward as it feels right at the moment. Albert Park, in Victoria, presents some really interesting shapes and I'm really pleased with the digital piece I created depicting St Vincent Street.

25.01.2022 New! Now available in my shop and ready for your Christmas shopping. Each image has been tagged so you can easily read more about each A4 Paper, unframed, artwork.... All three pieces are situated on the Yarra in South Yarra, Burnley and Toorak.

25.01.2022 Are you a fan of transport or all things plane related? If so, then perhaps you might like this new piece, which is now available in my shop. , , is an aerial view of Avalon Airport, south-west of Melbourne CBD. With all the planes grounded, as a result of the COVID19 Pandemic, there have been no flights in or out for months. The colours are indicative of those seen at the airport, including the planes and surrounding area. The blue is textured with a hard edge, while the remainder of the surface is smooth but featuring stripes of Silver Leaf to represent reflections and everything shiny at an airport.

25.01.2022 Hot, sticky and Wet? Are you a fan? Im not!... It wasnt until I decided to post this that I realised Ive never really visited a rain forest. So to help me understand what exactly a visit to a rain forest entails can you share some of your experiences?

25.01.2022 Have you moved from somewhere you have fond memories of? Would you like a memento of that place? This is a recent commission for a family that moved overseas and wanted a memento of their special place in Australia.... With Christmas not too far away now is the time to organise that special piece for your friends or loved ones.

24.01.2022 Do you have one of those dark rooms that needs brightening up? Of all the houses I have ever lived in, and that is a long list, there is nearly always a room that suffers with being light challenged - opposite to dark! One solution is to hang a big bright painting, like this one, or you could contact me to discuss your very own commissioned piece.... Acrylic on Canvas 91.5cm x 91.5cm Reduced to $1,530

24.01.2022 For the purpose of this post, this is Melanie. Melanie loves to support and buy local and shes a fan of recycled products. These works on paper are handmade using an old atlas. Air bubbles during the paper making process have left small empty pockets across the surface, as well as larger pieces of atlas pages. Each artwork has utilised these imperfections to create one of a kind artworks. Visit my website for more details. If you have been looking for a unique gift, like Mel...anie, in the form of an artwork, the good news is that these are very affordable starting at only $25 (unframed) with free shipping within Australia. Unfortunately, due to lockdowns in Melbourne, I am unable to provide framing.

24.01.2022 Do you love history? Are you a fan of the modern world? To be honest I love both and a fusion of them is even better. ... This is one of the reasons why I love Melbourne so much and London does it on a much bigger scale. It has great historical architecture and some really cool modern structures too. Ill never forget a tourist guide telling us, in London, that there is almost 1000 years difference between The Shard and the Tower of London. How damn cool is that?!

24.01.2022 Are you a beach lover? Are you looking forward to Summer in Australia or are you in the Northern Hemisphere and saying goodbye to Summer? Either way you can still enjoy this artwork which is situated over Australias famous Bondi beach.... Acrylic on Canvas 60cm x 76cm $950

24.01.2022 Chapter three is here! As mentioned in two earlier posts I have been partaking in an art exchange with artists friends and this is the third of those works. This one was created for Cat Dolphin (tag in image)... It is where she grew up and still has family. Because the town has gold mining history I added touches of gold leaf. I was thrilled when Cat told me how emotional she felt when she received it. This is why I create. There is no better feeling when my artwork touches peoples hearts.

23.01.2022 Growing up in the wheatbelt of WA I have seen my fair share regional towns. Add that to travelling around Australia as a kid and moving Interstate and it covers a lot of the country. There are a few towns that come to mind and they are York WA, Hahndorf SA, Sassafras and Daylesford Vic. I could name lots of them but Id rather know about your favourite Regional Town.

23.01.2022 Do you love an unusual locality name? I am a big fan. This is another digital mockup of a location situated approximatley 850km north of Perth in Western Australia called Useless Loop. ... The following quote is from the Landgate Website in Western Australia and explains the meaning behind the name "On going up this creek, we soon came into a very pretty small harbour, but which unfortunately being closed in by a sand-bank on which there is not more that three feet water, it can never admit a vessel of any size". For this reason L Freycinet named this feature Useless Harbour on 8 August 1801. The above quote was taken from MF Perons account of "A Voyage of Discovery to the Southern Hemisphere" on page 155. It was shown as Havre Inutile on Exploration Plan 176 - 1801 by L Freycinet. (Harbour unusable - useless is a loose translation of the French, probably by Commander Denham, RN in 1858).

21.01.2022 The Australian Outback? Have you been to the outback? As you may know I grew up in it. Two Western Australian towns in particular - Gabbin and Muntadgin. Both in the middle of nowhere in particular.... Lots of dust, gums, heat, snakes, wheat, sheep, flies, flies and more flies. If you have visited the outback what do you remember about it?

21.01.2022 Look who made it to Megana top nine at in.cube8r gallery

20.01.2022 Have you spent hours, days or more travelling to your destination? Last year I did my first overseas trip and it took 25 hours to go from Zurich to Melbourne, via Singapore. I know many people dont enjoy long flights, but I didnt mind it. But I think the longest time was travelling from Allora in Queensland to Gabbin in Western Australia. I dont remember exactly how long it took, as I was only about 10 years old, but I do remember at least 3 sleeps on the way.... We had a small caravan with all our belongings, which wasnt much. I remember writing all the towns we passed through and it was exactly 100.

20.01.2022 Do you have a world globe? One of those balls on a stand that spins and just happens to look a little like the planet Earth. I dont recall not having one. Even as a kid we always had one. Its the best way to view the world at the scale.

20.01.2022 Want to hear about a feel good story? A few months ago I was approached by an artist friend, Htet, who wanted to paint me something to say thank you. In return I painted her this piece which represented a location with special meaning. ... I totally enjoyed the experience and I have since painted several more and am still doing art swaps with artist friends. It has helped to give me some commission practice and its been really great fun hearing about the feedback and reactions to my works. Stay tuned for more of these great project pieces.

19.01.2022 VOTE NOW I was recently selected as a finalist in the Southern Buoy Studios Landscape Prize 2020 for my areal view of Mornington. If I could please ask you to give me a vote it would be much appreciated. Voting gives you the chance to win a $1000 art voucher from the Studio.... https://www.southernbuoystudios.com.au/lp_artist-template-r

19.01.2022 To be perfectly honest I can't remember the last adventure I had. The only one that comes close, recently, is my first visit to Bunnings post lockdown, in Melbourne. Although we had a list of items to buy we still found it adventurous checking out everything. And, of course we bought more than what we had on our list! I would love to hear about your most memorable adventure?

19.01.2022 You may not believe it, but this is the Geelong Waterfront. I was very excited when I noticed how amazing the aerial view was and while I have a break from commissions I created this digital interpretation for you, my followers. Apologies for being quiet, but I am looking after myself and prioritising the most important things in my life. Posting constantly has taken a back seat.... There is always plenty of artwork available in my shop. Link in my bio. See more

19.01.2022 I don’t often share my paper works but I have four pieces entered in the works on paper exhibition at in.cube8r gallery . They are more organic than my carefully planned and structured works. Each piece is handmade paper that Roger Dodgy Paper helped me to create, from an old Readers Digest Atlas.... Scroll to see close up of each piece. I will be at the exhibition today for a Meet The Artist event from midday today.

17.01.2022 Have you crossed a bridge lately? I know many of us in Melbourne are not out and about as usual but we all cross bridges or have crossed bridges. You may have walked over a bridge, walked under a bridge or driven over a bridge constructed to cross a river.... Many Melbourne residents will say the Yarra River and one of the many bridges, which is fair enough, but can you think of another bridge you have used to cross a river?

17.01.2022 This packs a punch! Do you like warm colours too? This is the fourth in my art exchange project and this piece was for Leslie Goldman.... It is part of the Merri Creek Trail in Coburg, Victoria. I am so pleased that Leslie loves it and I too love the piece that she painted for me of a cockatoo.

17.01.2022 So, are you content with what you have? Do you own an original artwork? Do you like to support local artists?... Commission a piece that captures a location and the memories that occurred. This piece is location in Melbourne. Acrylic on Canvas 76cm x 61cm Reduced to $765

16.01.2022 Railway stations always provide such fabulous shapes. This is a large piece from earlier this year. Exit 7 Railway Square is the aerial view of Central Station in Sydney and is now available in my online shop.

16.01.2022 When was the last time you travelled on a boat on a river? For me I think it was in Brisbane. We boarded in the afternoon and watched the sun go down as we headed into the city. When we reached the city it was all lit up. Beautiful boat ride.

16.01.2022 Its taken weeks but its finally finished! Now available in my shop. Our day in Milan was filled with bold statements in fashion featuring a lot of bright colours. Nobody is afraid to wear what they want in Milan and the bolder the better. Clothing, jewellery and cars of the best quality and all screaming "look at me!" The map is oriented to North and approximately to scale. The painting is continued around the sides of the canvas. Signed on the front and authenticated on t...he back. Acrylic on Canvas 76cm x 102cm $1500

15.01.2022 So in love and now engaged. I love making up stories on my posts. Lexi and Jack met in Melbourne and in the summer of 2018 they were engaged in Paris. They had planned to be married this year, but have postponed to next year. ... To celebrate their wonderful partnership they have commissioned a piece to remember that special moment for the rest of their lives.

15.01.2022 Guess what Ive been doing? Ive been playing with Pro Create again. Its great how I can create digital works and can then decide on whether I will paint them onto canvas.... This is an aerial view of Geographe, in Western Australia. Do you know where it is located?

15.01.2022 Do you love a good train station? I do now! When I first moved to Melbourne I remember that Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross Station were so huge. Having only ever see the train stations in Perth, there was no comparison.... Then I visited Europe last year and my favourite Train Station was at Stuttgart, Germany. It was modern and even had a large area that was an art gallery. Just so cool. Whats the best one youve ever visited?

14.01.2022 Do you remember trying to refold road maps? Do you prefer the inconvenience of turning the page or trying to find the next page to join the page you are one? So many people struggle to fold road maps back the way they were designed.... During my studies we actually learned how to fold a map correctly, so I am lucky to have this skill. Sadly it is not a skill that is needed often these days!

12.01.2022 The biggest tide I have ever seen was in Darwin. During the day there are trees along the beach and then in the late afternoon/evening all you can see is the tops of those trees protruding from the water. First time I saw it I was fascinated. Spectacular to say the least. Maybe I just get a little bit too excited!... Wheres the best tide you have seen?

11.01.2022 Do you love a suspension bridge over a running river? I know I do! My favourite one is a nice walk away from home at Finns Reserve.... It is a big yellow suspension bridge and if youre lucky, you can sometimes see a platypus in the water below. The painting, pictured is that place and its available in my shop or I can paint your favourite location. Acrylic on Canvas 60.5cm x 60.5cm 20% Off and reduced to $504

10.01.2022 If you had to choose one direction which would it be and why? Pre Pandemic I would have said South as I really want to visit Tasmania. Its the only state of Australia Im yet to see. But during the pandemic Id really love to go West as Im really missing my parents, who are in Western Australia.... Has the pandemic changed your decision?

10.01.2022 Looking back at our first overseas holiday December 2019 and this was our last destination before boarding the plane home. Zurich, Switzerland. Such a beautiful, clean and amazing city. ... This is an intersection where there were so many tram tracks we were a little confused as to which platform we had to be in order to go to the airport. We did manage to catch the correct tram, however, at about AU$25 each for a 20 minute trip was a little on the expensive side. Fortunately it was the last transport cost until we reached home. This is a digital mockup of a proposed future painting, using ProCreate on an iPad. If you would like a mock up of painting in your chosen location prior to commissioning a painting please contact me.

09.01.2022 Great memories of a wonderful trip to Europe with my family in Dec 2019 or pre COVID! This is my interpretation of Milan. Our day in Milan was filled with bold statements in fashion featuring a lot of bright colours. Nobody is afraid to wear what they want in Milan and the bolder the better. Clothing, jewellery and cars of the best quality and all screaming "look at me!"... This is an aerial view of the Fontanelle Piazza del Duomo and the surrounding streets. The map is oriented to the North and approximately to scale.

08.01.2022 My entry in the Nillumbik Prize 2021. Based on the theme, Return, it is an aerial view of a roundabout I frequently use, situated in Eltham. Brake, Wait and Around is hardedge acrylic featuring textural sections. Those sections are textured with the use of a toy car and a lid to depict car brake lights and indicators.

07.01.2022 There is nothing more fun that finding shapes in aerial views that look like monsters or characters. This is an aerial view over Patterson Lakes in Victoria. Do you know of any cool aerial views or shapes?... I created this as a digital artwork and am able to do any area of your choice.

04.01.2022 Is this a tree? It certainly looks a bit like one. But...... it isnt. It is an aerial view of Dampier Creek and the changes in water levels during low and high tide.... Big fans of Broome were very pleased to hang this on their wall to remind them of all the fun times they have in Broome. They fly up from Perth every few years and love to watch the tide roll in.

04.01.2022 My second finalist piece for 2020. This piece is my entry into the Southern Buoy Studios Landscape Prize 2020. Although it was a finalist, it missed out on being an award winner. ... If you think it deserves to be recognised then it is not too late to give it a vote. To make it easy I have put the link in my bio.

04.01.2022 Want to know about Chapter Two? Read on for a funny, but true story. As a follow on from a previous post, I contacted lots of artists that work on paper and have asked them to take part in an art exchange with me.... This is the second exchange and this is a beach of special meaning for my friend Carolyn Vickers aka @wongapress This first attempt was going well when my husband enquired as to why I was painting a penis? I hadnt even realised that the breakwater off the beach was very phallic indeed. If you dont know what that means I suggest you ask Siri or google it. So this is the second painting and I still have the first in my studio.

03.01.2022 Can you guess what this pattern is? Its footpaths in a park. Hyde Park in London is fabulous and this is what a section of it looks like from above. ... This is one omg larger works and has textural sections as well as some gold leaf. Goto my shop to see more details. Acrylic on Canvas 91cm x 91cm $1,600 Free Shipping within Australia

03.01.2022 This is the piece I entered in the Biblio Art Prize at BLARNEY BOOKS & ART. Inspired by a book written by a local author, Lisa Ireland, called The Secret Life of Shirley Sullivan. The location is Bancoora Beach in Victoria. It is the beach where the main character was saved from drowning, by her future husband.

03.01.2022 So I entered a competition and I could really do with your help. I am in the top 10 selected and need your likes on the post of the link below to increase my chance of winning. My map art on a car!!! How cool! https://www.instagram.com/p/COmKwqFDak_/

03.01.2022 Coastal or not? Up until the age of 15 I lived inland of Western Australia. I rarely saw the coast and when I did it either freaked me out, having a fear of water, or I was in awe. I am not a beach goer and probably never will be. My pale skin was not designed for frequenting the beach. ... Although I do love to see the coast and dont even mind walking on a beach I think I would choose inland if the decision had to be made. The thought of being surrounded by trees and wildlife is much more appealing to me.

01.01.2022 Springtime in Paradise was installed today at Steps Gallery in Carlton, along with Saving Lives on Bondi. Both pieces are yet to be seen by anyone. 2020 .... Exhibition Dates - Dec 12-20 Gallery Hours - 11am - 6pm everyday

01.01.2022 Which do you prefer? Do you have standard when booking accomodation? I prefer nice over ugly these days, as Ive seen my fair share of ugly.... As far as a tent is concerned I have been camping a few times in my life and the last one I remember was in Bridgetown in WA. It was so cold overnight that my hubby and I slept in our clothes and were huddled together in a sleeping bag. In the morning I thought my brother had gone for a walk as I couldnt see him in the other room of the tent. I then discovered that he was wearing all the clothes he had bought on the trip and was in a ball in the corner of his room in the tent!! Poor kid was frozen.
