18.01.2022 Fathers Day means something to every family, but its especially meaningful to us here at Alvey. Charles Alvey started passing on life lessons to his boy Ken o...ver 100 years ago. Ken passed these lessons to his son Jack. Jack passed them to his sons Bruce and Glenn. Bruce and Glenn Alvey have been continuing what their great grandfather started, sharing his hard-earned lessons with the younger generations and the wider Australian fishing community for half a century now. Standing on the shoulders of great Fathers who came before us and building on their legacy is why we are still here. This is what Fathers Day means to us. Its the day to look at the old man, if youre lucky enough to have him around, and say "Thanks for shaping me into the person I am today. Thanks for being you, mate". This is the greatest gift you can give a Father. To tell him that despite being human and all the flaws that come along with it, the good he has put out into the world is not only recognised, but also deeply appreciated by those closest to him who will continue to pass on the lessons he taught, long after he is gone. We know there is nothing you can buy that communicates even 1% of this. 16.01.2022 To all our Alvey loyalists who have expressed concern about the country of origin of the new Alvey Baitcaster, we sincerely thank you for your passion and conce...rn. Alvey Reels will continue to manufacture the Alvey sidecasts, and as many other products and parts as we can in our factory at Carole Park, as long as its commercially viable to do so. We designed and engineered the Baitcaster in Australia, and manufactured and sourced as many components as we possibly could locally, but there are components that simply cannot be manufactured in Australia. To give some perspective, the equipment required just to machine the one-piece alloy alone costs over $4.5m, and the best one is made in China, which defeats the purpose. Manufacturing the components required here in Australia would have meant the reel would have to sell for close to $1000, which would not be able to compete with other commercially available brands, even with the support of the incredible Alvey Community. We will always produce reels that meet the incredibly high Alvey standard to ensure that whenever you see Alvey, you already know its the highest possible quality. This was our promise in 1920. Its still our promise in 2020. It will be our promise in 2120. (hopefully the robots dont take all the good fishing spots). On behalf of Bruce, Glenn, Con and the entire Alvey Team, we would like to thank every member of the Alvey Community for their ongoing support and helping keep the Alvey dream powering on for another Century.
