22.01.2022 Harrington Park Public School Upgrade It was great to turn the first sod at Harrington Park Public School today with L-R-Mark Reynold Project Director at School Infrastructure NSW, Dr Glenn Patterson- Director Educational Leadership at NSW Department of Education and school Principal Ms Kelly Paton. Construction will soon begin on the upgrade at Harrington Park Public School, with Grindley Construction Pty Ltd being awarded the main works construction tender and the D...evelopment Application approved. The project will deliver 19 new permanent classrooms, plus upgrades to core facilities including the hall, library, covered outdoor learning area and staff facilities. Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2022.

18.01.2022 CAMDEN MUSEUM SECURES GRANT Camden Museum is among 15 NSW museums and Aboriginal Cultural Centres sharing in this year’s Volunteer Museum Small Grants Round 1 funding which is aimed to assist with immediate improvements and projects. The museum will receive $1,349.50 which will be used to install a digital welcome display around the entrance to the Museum... Camden Historical Society Inc. President Doug Barratt, the committee and members do exceptional work in preserving and displaying Camden’s history and heritage through Camden Museum. I thank them very much for their dedication, passion and the long hours they often put in to ensuring Camden’s rich history is preserved and accessible to all. It’s wonderful that these grants continue to be supported by the NSW Government, and I’m delighted that with this support, our dedicated volunteers of Camden Museum will be able to put plans into place for the benefit of our wider community to enjoy.

15.01.2022 Name Approved for Denham Court Public School The Geographical Names Board has confirmed that the use of the name Denham Court Public School for the new school now under construction at the corner of Commissioners Drive and Elkhon Street, Denham Court. The school name was chosen after community consultation with local residents through the school website, written notification and social media.... This consultation confirmed strong support for the use of the name Denham Court Public School. I thank everyone for their input!
15.01.2022 NSW Government Grant for Cobbitty Road Pedestrians The NSW Government will provide Camden Council with an Active Transport Grant to install a pedestrian island with a children’s crossing on Cobbitty Road, near Macarthur Anglican School, as well as 180 metres of new footpaths to improve walking connections in the area. This important work is about providing safer and easier access to Macarthur Anglican School for students and pedestrians crossing from the south side... of Cobbitty Road. With school bus stops on either side of the road, local children who attend other schools in the area will also have better access to their school bus service. The new footpaths will also improve how the community can move around their local area. This is because the new footpaths will connect with existing ones on Northern Road, as well as to the wider Oran Park and Harrington Park areas.

Community Languages Schools Program will recommence face to face learning; Interschool activities were able to recommence on September 26 where there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place; Playing wind instruments, singing and chanting is permitted with strict restrictions; Year 6 formals and graduations are permitted; High school formals are permitted from 12 November to limit any HSC disruption; and Kindergarten orientation, Year 7 transition, excursions and camps can resume with strict guidelines. 14.01.2022 NYE In Sydney: Book Ahead Or Celebrate From Home A seven-minute midnight New Year’s Eve firework display will bring in 2021 and premium viewing spots will be reserved for frontline workers to say thank you for keeping NSW safe throughout this year. While the Harbour’s best vantage points will be reserved for these frontline workers, I’m encouraging everyone in Camden to support their local businesses on the night, or celebrate from home.... Some COVID safe measures specific for NYE are: Premium spots reserved for frontline workers around Mrs Macquarie’s Point, Sydney Opera House, Campbell’s Cove and the Cahill Expressway. Frontline workers will be nominated by their respective agencies. A designated Green Zone will be established around Circular Quay and North Sydney. Patrons, hospitality workers, residents and guests of local residents will need to register for a pass through Service NSW. A designated Yellow Zone will also be established around the Green Zone and people looking to gather in this area on NYE will potentially be subject to move-on Police powers to ensure the community is COVID-Safe. Anyone with a confirmed booking at a venue within the Green Zone will be required to show an event pass prior to entry. Passes will be available via ServiceNSW. Anyone without a pass will be turned away from the Green Zone area. 11.01.2022 New Homes to Combat Housing Stress Older people and single-parent families will benefit from 122 new social and affordable homes developed in South Western Sydney. This project is an excellent example of the work the NSW Government is doing in collaboration with community housing providers, which is not only creating great social outcomes but also significant economic benefits in the form of local jobs.... The project consists of 84 one-bedroom villas for seniors and 38 two-bedroom townhouses for single-parent families. The complex features landscaped gardens, a BBQ area, community centre, a veggie garden and playground. 08.01.2022 Have Your Say A $150 million NSW Government program that ensures communities contribute to the design of new and upgraded parks will include a new public space in Leppington. Our community can provide input for the new park in Leppington on Camden Valley Way, opposite the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.... This year has emphasised the value of our public open spaces for everyone’s health and well-being and local communities best know how to create their own spaces. This is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Leppington and the growing communities along Camden Valley Way to meaningfully contribute to shaping their public space. Community consultation is during the concept design phase between 9 30 October. The final design, informed by the community and the technical studies, will be shared on the Department’s social pinpoint digital engagement platform, and the community will again be invited to provide feedback. 08.01.2022 Road work on Camden Bypass, Narellan and Smeaton Grange from Tuesday 13 October The NSW Government is carrying out this essential work as part of ongoing maintenance of the State road network. Transport for NSW will replace asphalt and repaint road markings on Camden Bypass between Richardson... Road, Narellan and Narellan Road, Smeaton Grange. The maintenance work aims to: provide a smoother road surface prevent or minimise damage to roads from weather and wear and tear increase safety provide consistent driving conditions reduce maintenance costs. Transport for NSW will be on site for 20 night shifts between Tuesday 13 October and Friday 20 November, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 8pm and 5am from Sunday to Friday. Work will take place up to five nights per week. There will be temporary traffic changes during work hours

06.01.2022 NSW Health is calling on people in the Hawkesbury and South Western Sydney areas to get tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms after the state’s sewage surveillance program detected traces of the virus at two treatment plants In South Western Sydney, NSW Health is looking closely at the suburbs of Belimba Park, Bickley Vale, Bow Bowing, Brownlow Hill, Camden, Camden Park, Camden South, Carrington Park, Catherine Field, Cawdor, Cobbitty, Currans Hill, Elderslie, Ellis Lane..., Gledswood Hills, Glenmore, Grasmere, Gregory Hills, Harrington Park, Kirkham, Mount Annan, Mount Hunter, Minto, Minto DC, Minto Heights, Narellan, Narellan DC, Narellan Vale, Nattai, Orangeville, Oran Park, Raby, Rossmore, Spring Farm, St Andrews, Smeaton Grange, The Oaks and Varroville.
