25.01.2022 Some more 5 minute sketches.

24.01.2022 Rembrandt says it’s time to paint.

22.01.2022 Alexander Calder (artist inventor of the mobile), excellent exhibition at the NGV

22.01.2022 This fella has more patience than me - unique art. https://www.wired.com/story/wu-chi-tsung-collage-approach/

21.01.2022 An important time now in West Papuan history to re-post my 2013 painting of a man called Wendiman Wonda, a highland farmer killed by Indonesian troops who posed in trophy photos after they shot him. He is not forgotten. (I've now had this work framed.) Full title: Stealing Beauty - the untimely death of Wendiman Wonma, aged 46, by the guns of Indonesian soldiers. (Oils, gold leaf, mixed media on Belgian linen, Peter Woods 2013)

21.01.2022 Back to the studio today, the deck and stairs must wait! Started work on a portrait commission, my subject very patient. Painting straight to canvas gets the adrenalin going.

20.01.2022 First bid in: $300! This is an AUCTION - best bid - as a fund-raiser for bushfire victims. A landscape painting I did in Provence in 2018 which was in an exhibition I had last year. "Afternoon sun, Lourmarin village, Provence" (Gouache on water colour paper, Peter Woods, 2018. original price $600). Framed and ready to hang on the wall- size 71cm x 54cm. You can pick up at my place in Bittern or buyer can pay for postage if too far. All proceeds to victims via the Red Cross. Don’t give directly - the best bid in Comments will mean you get the painting, give me the money, then I will donate to the Red Cross!

19.01.2022 Had a ball this week-end at a family camp from our church, where we gave some input on ‘doing family’, plus I did 5 minute sketches of 23 campers - here’s a few. I did the colour wash backgrounds in the all-age service this morning. Worked hard!

19.01.2022 Notre Dame Cathedral memories from previous visits, what a tragic loss. A national treasure, full of incredible art, a beautiful art work in itself which inspired the builders of Cathedrals in England. Yet this building was representative of an era when faith was at the centre of Europe's life. France, Europe and the world rightly mourn, however this was a place which was built because of the gospel of Jesus Christ and existed to nurture the souls of the faithful for nearly... 1000 years. France and Europe has long ago left that world view, burned up in secularism, materialism, militarism, nihilism, hedonism, and depressed hopelessness. It is in shock and weeps over the loss of this building and vaguely realises or is unaware that what it stands for has long ago been lost as well. Billionaires and governments and many will contribute to "re-build" Notre Dame. But what will be built, and why and in what context? A pause for thought. Jeanette Woods See more

17.01.2022 Not Artist’s block so much as working on the art of deck and stairs building. The studio is being inhabited by wildlife while I’m absent

08.01.2022 Well, in obedience to Mijnheer Rembrandt I finished one of my commissions, a landscape with boat (a Bavaria 43). My patron is happy and he met me at the workshop of my new framer, the lovely Camilla from Picture Framing Studio 553 at Mt Martha to view the painting and confirm the frame. Always a hold the breath moment when the patron sees the work - I knew all was ok when I heard a small 'wow'. All good. Jeanette Woods Peter Woods

07.01.2022 "Contemplating a Pandemic in the Studio". Peter Woods, gouache on paper 2020. (Though studio currently virus free...)

05.01.2022 Not a bad gig for an artist - paint a whole town!

02.01.2022 That feeling and time between finishing a commissioned portrait and when the commissioner sees it - at once both happy and a tad nervous.
