23.01.2022 The drought is biting very hard We have very little honey Our bees are ok but they have not produced any surplus honey to their needs since May We haven’t had to feed our bees because we left them enough honey for their needs They have the same amount of honey that we left them but they haven’t been able to produce a surplus so far this season

16.01.2022 The fires and drought will have an unexpected impact on our food production. Bees are needed to pollinate much of the food we enjoy. Many thousands of beehives have been lost in the fires and hive strengths have been weakened in the drought ... There won’t be as many bees to do the pollination work forests used to build up beehives have been decimated in the fires Many beekeepers will need support to rebuild their bees Many have lost their apiary sites in the fires If you have properties with forests or other flowering pastures, consider offering them to commercial beekeepers so they can have food for their bees as they rebuild there beehives so you can enjoy good food Remember this about food If it looks good and tastes good then bees probably pollinated it Pleases support the beekeepers

10.01.2022 I was doing some further reading about the lost of public land access to beekeepers in QLD in 2024. In 2024 Beekeepers in Queensland will be denied access to over 1 million hectares of forests in South East Queensland and will have less than 19000 hectares of forest on private land if the land owners give them access at all. The State Government is unable to identify where these 19000 hectares of forest on private land are. 80% of the honey produced in Queensland is produced ...from the public land forests that beekeepers will lose access to in just three and one half years. You will be eating honey imported from China The biggest problem though is these forests are used to build up bee colonies strength so that they can do the pollination work for our fruit and vegetables. If the bees aren’t strong enough they can’t be used in the pollination industry for our fruit and vegetables. The forests are used to build up the bee colonies so that you can have fruit and vegetables. The plight of the beekeeper will directly effect you. Your fruit and vegetables will be scarce and expensive. It is against the policy of the government to allow bees in public forests because they are not native animals The fruit and vegetables we eat are introduced to this country and bees are their best pollinators Contact your state member. Talk to them, send them faxes and emails, ask them to reply to you with solutions to this problem The answer to this problem is in your hands and the hands of your friends because the government doesn’t listen to beekeepers because they bee industry doesn’t generate a big income even though it is responsible for most of your food
