23.01.2022 Yesterday in Treasure Cove, the children enjoyed the company of Uncle Alan. Uncle Alan is our local Aboriginal Elder that teaches us all about the land we are on. As he shares his knowledge, the children are learning about connectedness and how this helps them relate to values, traditions and practices of their families, Petit, their local community, and the wider world. Today we learned Happy Birthday in our local Yugambeh language, as today was one of our friends birthd...ay. Again, learning about others cultures, showing respect for diversity. Uncle also taught us to count to 10, some animal names, and that the woman (girls) play clap sticks and the men (boys) play the didgeridoo; so today we all played along as a group. It is such an amazing experience for our children to learn about the culture and language of our local land, we really enjoy having Uncle Alan visit us and teach us his knowledge. This connectedness involves childrens understanding of and consideration for the rights of others and their respect for diversity. Children are developing an understanding of Aboriginal peoples ways of knowing and being and their connection to Country and the importance of the connection between Country and the environment. 21.01.2022 Last week and this week in Blossom Hill, the children have been exploring the wonderful world of the arts; and art elements. As we dig deeper into the elements that make art, we are learning to accept our own style and adapt our new learnings into our pieces. The children are making connections with line and shape, understanding that line creates my letter as one child made a connection, and look! I made a circle with my string as told by another child, again making that connection to their learning. #art #artelements #childrensart #line #shape #learningisfun #petitburleigh #blossomhill

17.01.2022 To all of our Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunties and everyone else who steps in as a Mother figure - THANK YOU.

17.01.2022 Wow what a week in Blossom Hill! This week we had little discussions on patterns we can find in nature - like leaves, "they have lines on them", these are veins, like the veins in our body. We learnt that sap travels through these lines to help the leaves stay strong and healthy, while our veins have blood, which helps us to stay strong and healthy too. We also began investigating the colours of the world, and learned that if we mix primary colours; red, blue and yellow, we ...can make purple, green, and orange hues. We investigated further by mixing our new colours with a shade like white or black, as this will make our colours lighter or darker. As we explored colour mixing, we hypothesised at what the outcome could be; Everest colour (Miss Nik had to explore what this was referred to, its Everest from Paw Patrol), Pink, Green, Maybe Blue!, and many more. This activity helps build skills like; researching, investigating, problem solving experimentation and more (EYLF 4 children are confident and involved learners).

16.01.2022 Crazy Hair Day at Burleigh invited wonderful creations. Excitement and fun was shared from the Studios through to the office.

14.01.2022 Burleigh - In Darling Drive, the children have been exploring who they are and where they come from. Through connecting with families, we have been able to provide the children with a sense of belonging as we talk about where in the world the Darling Drive children and their families are from. The children are increasingly developing their ability to respect diversity within our classroom and centre.

13.01.2022 How do we explore our senses? The Haven Place children have been busily supporting their sensorimotor development through actively investigating texture, consistency and cause and effect. Their input and and ideas are important to us and we support this through providing opportunities for them to decide what experiences will be available throughout the day.

12.01.2022 The Willow Way Children explored a sensory experience using the little animals/bugs hidden in the shaving foam. We discussed what we could see and feel. Children used their language to recognize what they could see. Brontosaurus - Sunny said. (Learning outcome 3 and 5)

12.01.2022 This week in Darling Drive, the children are feeling creative as they resourced their learning through connecting with their friends in dramatic play (O 4.4). This learning experience can be linked to Steiners theories. He believes that children need free, creative play to develop their spirit, bodies and minds.

11.01.2022 This week in Blossom Hill, the children have been developing a sense of belonging, that makes them feel they relate to and contribute to their world (EYLF; 2). During this time, the children have had opportunities where they can interact in relation to others with care, empathy, and respect. We first celebrated on the 7th of July with a Japanese tradition known as the Star Festival, this saw the children write down their wishes and place them onto our Bamboo Tree and decorate... it with paper lanterns and star pictures. We then participated in our centres Smoking Ceremony, conducted by Uncle Allan. Having celebrated both traditions in one week gave the children the opportunity to learn more about culture and respecting those around them with fairness, diversity, and an appreciation of embedding culture into our everyday routine in Blossom Hill. 10.01.2022 Teachers appreciation day was on May 4th. A big Thank you to Miss Abbie and Miss Nicole who support our Treasure Cove children, to grow and be inspired to question the world around them. We are proud to have you as part of the Petit Burleigh team.

10.01.2022 Happy Birthday Kristy. Your an amazing person.

10.01.2022 Willow Way studio has been focusing on exploring our senses as part of our term project. Over the past week we have particularly enjoyed musicality and exploring the many different sounds in our environments. We have enjoyed creating sounds with musical instruments and singing along to songs which also promotes our language.

10.01.2022 The children in Darling Drive have been exploring colours through their artwork and play. This loose parts rainbow station allows the children to explore this interest, while working towards being able to match and name some colours, through colour matching and object sorting, developing their fine motor skills. This can be linked to Deweys theories, as he believes that learning should be child-centred and reflect the childs interests.

09.01.2022 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), enables children to make the connections between everyday life activities. It lays foundational skills for academic success which is learned through; cooking, gardening, building and testing ramps or building and testing out Lego creations, nature walks and many more. Treasure Cove have been busy exploring with gears, ramps and gardening. We have been testing out our Lego builds and helping our peers with theres. The... QKLG supports our teaching in Treasure Cove and as the children have been active learners they have been building positive dispositions towards their learning through these activities strengthening their problem-solving skills, imaginative play, sharing discoveries, learning to adapt their builds, teamwork, experimenting and strengthening their fine-motor muscles for their pre-writing skills, hand-eye coordination, using technologies and more. 08.01.2022 Nowhere is better than outside play to develop our physical skills. Outside play helps the babies to learn to take turns, share and develop other positive behavioral skills. As the children play the educators use descriptive words to help the children learn about the world they live in.

08.01.2022 Woo Hoo...Congratulations Miss Amanda and Miss Shannon for being nominated as Educators of the Month for April. Your dedication to supporting childrens well being and growth is outstanding.

06.01.2022 Music is Magical. Baby Boulevard being supported by our talented Miss Sana.

06.01.2022 Burleigh - Rainbow Day! This week in Blossom Hill we have been looking at rainbows and what they mean to us. Our thoughts were, they make us happy, and feel new this term was interesting and we explored this further by asking some inquiry questions turns out that we are referring to the rainbow after a storm, after the rain, its new again calm, happy, love. All these terms were acknowledged by all the children when asked what does a rainbow mean to you? or whe...n you see a rainbow, how does that make you feel? From here, we continued to investigate colours and patterns we can find in nature. Allowing children to form their own opinion on life, creates a space of confidence in their own thoughts and a sense of belonging. Just like under the UN Convention on the rights of the child, article 13; Children have the right to find things out and share what they think with others. See more

01.01.2022 Happy Birthday Miss Teresa. May your day be filled with love and laughter.Have a magical day from Petit Burleigh.

01.01.2022 We have been exploring our senses this week with our coloured spaghetti. They picked the spaghetti up in their hands and at first shook it off straight away feeling the sticky texture. They then continued on feeling and pulling the spaghetti apart, smiling when it fell back onto the table. They got some on their feet and it took them awhile to work out to sit down and pull it off. The use of sensory material creates hands-on, self-directed, and self-centred play, and it encou...rages discovery and development. Sensory play encourages babies and toddlers to move and participate in play, often using repetitive movements. Using multiple senses at the same time stimulates learning and language development, especially descriptive words. Not only do we improve our sensory and motor skills we have so much fun playing with our wiggly worms. Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. See more
