25.01.2022 This morning our Blossom Hill children were delighted to have an artistically talented parent assist them with some rock painting. The children were able to clearly convey a message of what they wanted drawn for them and our wonderful guest drew these on the rocks. The children then worked in solitude or collaboratively to create some beautiful artworks that Miss Michelle is very excited to exhibit and utilise within the room. Utilising the expertise, cultures, values and beliefs hidden within our families and community provides children with beautiful opportunities for inclusion, learning and their well-being. Thank you so much for your assistance today, we cant wait to see how the children extend on this in the upcoming weeks.

25.01.2022 Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest day of action to raise awareness of child safety, protection, and harm prevention. Today we celebrated this by wearing red in memory of Daniel Morcombe and to encourage conversations around this important topic. Parents, carers and educators are always encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations with children about safety. Thank you to our wonderful families for participating in this important day with us.

25.01.2022 For the next few weeks we are enjoying an exciting Summer Program jam packed with inquiries and learning. Today we explored what camping means to our children and what this may involve. Our Blossom Hill children expressed how camping means tents, camp fires, marshmallows and stars! So that's exactly what they did. Working collaboratively, children created a beautiful fire using resources they found around the centre, enjoying the "night" with the lights off and the fire 'burning'. They engaged in some beautiful and open discussions about fires and fire safety and even read some stories under the light of their fire.

23.01.2022 This year we have participated in a "10 days of giving" initiative where we collect different pantry items over the course of 2 weeks that we have now donated to "Vedanta Springfield", a local food bank. Vedanta Springfield serve food such as frozen meals and grocery items to local families in need and we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to support this! It is so important to us here at Petit Springfield to support our local community. Over the course of the 10 days of giving, families and educators have been so selfless in helping us in this endeavour to help our community and we are so very grateful for the support we have received in doing so. Thank you to the families and educators that have contributed to our 10 days of giving, it means so much to us

23.01.2022 Wearing our favourite pyjamas to celebrate National Pyjama Day - raising awareness and funds for children in foster care.

22.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone, our local music station River 94.9 is holding a best of the best competition and the current one is childcare! If you believe we provide fantastic and quality care, it would be fantastic to see the support we see daily flood through here as well. Have a great day!

22.01.2022 Today in the big yard Miss Allison and Miss Sarah helped us to create our own rainbow serpents. This beautiful experience is inspired by the Aboriginal story The Rainbow Serpant. We are embedding our cultural heritage into our play in meaningful ways for our children. We also used complex fine motor skills like twisting, cutting and manipulating our wool which we can use now and into our school learning.

21.01.2022 In Treasure Cove we have been exploring various art forms and discovering the many ways we can use things like painting, dancing, sculpting among many more, to help us communicate or make meaning. Yesterday, we used clay to create some beautiful monsters that are now on display in the hallway! We are developing positive dispositions towards learning such as creativity, persistence, imagination and commitment alongside skills such as experimentation. Look how beautiful they turned out, were so lucky to have such budding artists.

21.01.2022 This morning, our Treasure Cove children extended their interest in written literacy and letter recognition to engage with an exciting 'letter search' in some recycled magazines our wonderful families have donated. Children set out to find the letter 'S' in these magazines, used their fine motor skills to cut these out and then glued them down to create a collage of the many different sized and shaped s' they could find. Not only does this experience exercise our cognitive thinking as we search and find for these letters, we are also exploring texts from a range of perspectives and are able to recognise and engage with written texts. This is preparing us for our future endeavors into more meaningful literacy learning. by one of our Treasure Cove children as we actively explore ICTs

19.01.2022 Today our Burrows Lane children were firefighters! Burrows Lane have been exploring superheros and one of their extensions have been our real life superheros: emergency service workers. With a terrifying fire (candle) and their fire hose, the children were able to role play using their prior knowledge and imagination! The children are using play to explore and investigate ideas and have the perfect opportunity to make sense of the world around them in ways that are purposeful to them. Were so glad we have this wonderful team in case of a fire !

18.01.2022 In our Treasure Cove studio, our children have been exploring the topic of around the world, their first stop being the familiar: AUSTRALIA! Today their experiences lead them to learning about, discussing and interpreting their very own emu, one of the Australian animals featured on our coat of arms. This experience provided the opportunity for rich and purposeful conversations where children displayed their confidence in constructing messages with purpose. The treasure cove children displayed curiousity and enthusiasm toward exploring Australia and its many beautiful animals and features. It is so wonderful to learn about and recognise the greater community that we call home: Australia. We cant wait to see where this exploration takes the Treasure Cover children as they travel (through learning) all around the world!

18.01.2022 "To the world you are a mother, but to me you are the world" Today we have set up a grab and go selection of treats to celebrate the many wonderful mothers in our centre. It doesnt go unseen all the stressful days, sleepless nights and loving cuddles. Heres to celebrating our superheros: our mums! Normally, we would celebrate these events with open arms, big smiles and full bellies, but due to world events, we have had to minimize this to the grab and go cupcakes and coffee...s. However, we cannot wait to celebrate true petit style in upcoming events when the storm has passed and we have the rainbow weve been waiting for. We hope you have a wonderful weekend full of pamper and love. with lots of love, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY from the petit springfield team. (P.s. please share your wonderful gifts, wed love to see your reactions or their homes!).

18.01.2022 To celebrate Diwali here at Petit Springfield we have participated in a number of experiences. These included making diya (candle holders) with clay a celebration of peace and light. Laddu sweets (coconut balls) for us to taste. Rangolli (colour circle) to celebrate colour. For those unsure Diwali is the Indian Festival of Lights and Colour usually celebrated over 5 days, it is one of the most popular events of Hinduism. As we have many children and educators from this cultural background we found it important to celebrate this throughout our centre throughout the week.

17.01.2022 This afternoon during our outdoor program, children were able to extend on a garden making experience that Haven Place enjoyed. Using just playdough and loose flower parts children were able to use their creativity to develop their own small gardens within the playdough base. They used fine motor skills to press and place the individual pieces. This experience provides the perfect opportunity to experiment with expressing ideas and making meaning using a range of different types of media. They also displayed so much enthusiasm and concentration as they developed their own little gardens.

17.01.2022 As a multicultural centre, we love to explore and embrace all cultures. Today we had the opportunity to celebrate Colombian Independence Day (from July 20th). We are so thankful for our beautiful families that are able to share their beautiful cultures with us and extend on our learning about the world and world events. Through our exploration of the diversity of culture and traditions, we are learning that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings.

17.01.2022 We are so excited to Welcome back Jaymi from Little Potters. Jaymi has a background in fine arts and has a passion for developing an appreciation and love for pottery. Through this program our Kindergarten children are not only developing pottery skills but also strengthening the muscles in their hands which assist with holding a pencil correctly and helping accuracy when cutting.

However, we wanted to keep you up to date with changes being made within our community as we slowly reintroduce less restrictions. Here is some very exciting news that will hopefully be one of many changes moving forward that might help or positively impact your families: our local Ipswich Libraries have officially reopened . Reading books is such a wonderful way to connect with children and al...so caters to multiple learning styles such as audio (hearing), visual (seeing) and kinaesthetic (doing). Reading and storytelling helps: children recognise patterns in sounds and words, ignite curiosity and imagination and promote bonding opportunities among many, many more learning opportunities. The services available are currently limited to borrowing and returning books only and with a limit 10 people allowed in the library at any one time. Social distancing guidelines will still need to be considered and followed during this time. For more information about these services and their current restrictions, head to the Ipswich Libraries website. CK Design International

16.01.2022 Today during our afternoon outdoor program, children from the big yard enjoyed a transferring experience. Our tuff tray was filled with blue water and the children were given a range of clear containers where they could see the transferring occur. This open ended experience allowed us to experience so many beautiful things through our experimentation and trail and error. We learned about air sockets in containers rising when placed in water, creating a continuous water flow, what happens when a large body of water is transferred in to a small body of water and one of our favourites was counting how many of each container fit in the large container. We are exploring mathematical concepts and showing how we are curious and active participants in our own learning. Just look at this beautiful learning

This book is all about a little boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder, who gets to see the world in a very special way. This book has touched the hearts of many educators and the children loved listening to Bear’s story. ... You can purchase a copy of A Boy Named Bear from Kaz’s website www.kazdalton.com

14.01.2022 This term our Haven Place studio has been exploring the topic of identity. Today, the children were given the opportunity to explore our own appearance and the appearance of others. We are developing knowledgeable self identities as we actively explore similarities and differences between ourselves and others in a meaningful and respectful way. It was so beautiful to hear the interesting and positive interactions that blossomed through this experience. The Haven Place children also loved having the opportunity to be painted by their peers and to also creatively interpret their peers through their own painting. Just look at these inquisitive and smiley faces!

14.01.2022 This morning our Haven Place studio enjoyed making some hot chocolates as we discussed how different places all around the world celebrate Christmas. We talked about how some places are really cold for Christmas and make hot chocolates. This gave us the perfect opportunity to create our very own. This also opened a discussion about how we can look after our bodies and health by only eating sometimes foods every now and then, but not a lot. "This hot chocolate is a sometimes food, its for special time" one of our children shared. Christmas time provides so many beautiful opportunities to explore different places all around our wonderful Earth. How is your family celebrating Christmas Eve?

14.01.2022 Hot days mean water play! Water play is an open ended activity, which allows children to make discoveries and explore outcomes. Simple things like watching objects sink or float develops problem solving skills as they begin to learn why and how things happen

14.01.2022 Today our toddlers enjoyed bringing in Spring with some messy mud play using their little garden bed and mud kitchen. They are exploring their natural world and the many beautiful and natural resources the world has to offer us. They had so much fun using their senses to engage with this and make sense of their world in one of the most meaningful ways: PLAY. We hope your first day of Spring was as wonderful as ours!

14.01.2022 It’s our 2nd Birthday. Happy Birthday to us! We currently have Angie from Angie's Barista Koffee here whipping up coffee’s to go for all of our families. If your not here today you can still pop in to celebrate!

14.01.2022 At Petit we love to incorporate childrens birthdays into our practice to ensure that the children feel a sense of belonging within our centre. Getting parent input is one of the many ways we like to acknowledge and celebrate these special occasions. Today is Miss Os birthday! She brought in a cake mix from hone to share with her peers to make and enjoy together for afternoon tea. This experience encourages children to learn life long skills, such as early mathematical skills through measuring, turn taking, communication skills and strengthened relationships as they celebrate a valued member of their class. We hope you enjoy your day and your delicious cakes.

14.01.2022 Today we were able to welcome Miss Tee back! Miss Tee is our wonderful yoga teacher who comes to visit the centre on Tuesdays as a wonderful treat to explore different ways of using and moving our bodies in order to stay happy and healthy! 12.01.2022 Today our treasure cove children had a wonderful visitor Rachel from Plot Australia to assist with some gardening. Gardening provides the perfect opportunity for children to develop responsibility, learn about ways to be sustainable and care for/look after our earth as well as developing their self confidence as they achieve their gardening goals. Children were so excited to be involved in contributing to their environment and having a sense of belonging within their yard. Well done Treasure Cove, we are eager to see these plants thrive with your love and care!

12.01.2022 Every child is capable, resourceful and a constructor of their own knowledge Here at a Petit Springfield we foster a love of learning from the earliest months and years. Our two youngest years studios, Baby Boulevard and Burrows Lane have hands on experiences every day to engage young minds. Today Baby Boulevard children participated in a collage experience. Collage for babies is an experience where they can explore different materials and introduce the idea of socialising... and sharing resources. Burrows Lane are exploring The World Around Them today they used bi carb soda and vinegar with sand and food colouring to create their own representations of volcanos. This is a cause and effect experience and our toddlers were equally surprised and excited to see the chemical reaction taking place.

12.01.2022 This afternoon our children enjoyed some parachute fun! While being enjoyable and great for our gross motor skills, this also helped us work collaboratively as we took turns shaking and playing under the parachute. We quickly discovered the role of fairness in our play as we learned that if everyone was playing under the mat, we had no-one holding the parachute up which was half of the fun. It was so beautiful to see the rich language as the children problem solved to ensure everyone had optimal fun! We cant wait to extend this learning with more complex ways to interact with the parachute to challenge this.

11.01.2022 This morning our Haven Place studio engaged in a challenging stacking experience where they used trial and error alongside problem solving to figure out the most effective ways to get the ice to stack on top of each other. 09.01.2022 Continuing our summer program, today the Blossom Hill children delved into using natural resources in a way that is respectful for our environment. Loose parts are such a beautiful resource that encourage children to think creatively and engage with their play in ways that are meaningful to them, which is exactly what we did with the natural parts to create intricate pictures. Our open discussions also encourages the development of awareness on the impact of human activity on the environment, such as pulling leaves, flowers and sticks off of the living tree and allowed us to discuss how these materials will naturally fall for us to use if we want them.

Children used their fine motor skills to mould and shape the playdough to create their own interpretation of the characteristics that make up a face. They are using creativity and imagination as they create these faces while also engaging in some beautiful language opportunities as they begin to recognise and say or repeat "eyes, nose, mouth, ears". We cant wait to hear all about this learning as they start to identify these for themselves!

07.01.2022 Yesterday we said goodbye to term two in comfort and style: by wearing our pyjamas! Children throughout the centre loved getting to keep warm during this chilly winter in their PJs, with a warm drink and some popcorn as they watched a short movie to celebrate the end of the term. Participating in centre-wide experiences like this help to enhance our sense of belonging within one of our immediate communities: our school/kindy! We even had a surprise visit from Garfield the cat ! It was such a pleasure to see the great big smiles as children excitedly shared their pjs with their friends and teachers, we cant wait until the next time!

06.01.2022 Today our Haven Place children enjoyed an exciting and evolving experience. The children ignited their natural curiosity as they actively engaged with this experience, watching the white foam change in front of their eyes. Each of the balloons had more colours and glitter to continue changing their play experience. Exploring our environment using our senses is such a fun way to make sense of it. We hope your holidays are as fun as ours so far!

06.01.2022 Hot days and water play in Darling Drive. What a fun way to bring our learning outside and cool off on this hot day!

06.01.2022 Today our centre had a very special visitor: A police officer with their police car! Thank you to the wonderful Dad in our community that provided such a wonderful opportunity for our children to explore. Our Haven Place studio has been exploring emergency vehicles and workers to learn about how they are here to help and support us. It was great to be able to fulfill our questions and curiosities about emergency vehicles in a way that makes sense to us: sight and touch! We absolutely loved being able to make sense of the world around us in ways that are meaningful to us, thank you so much for giving us the chance to explore this today!

06.01.2022 Today we participated in a fine motor experience using spray bottles and water colour! Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. They help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more.

05.01.2022 Our Treasure Cove studio has been exploring the wonderful Aboriginal story: The Echidna and the Shade Tree. This has sparked many beautiful opportunities for engaging discussions and has even lead to creating their very own Echidnas using clay. This experience allows the Treasure Cove children to respectfully learn about how the diversity of other cultures presents opportunities for new understandings. This was a two day project that challenged children to use their creativity and fine motor skills to interpret the echidnas using clay and then decorate them using earthy coloured paints. How cool do our echidnas look!?

05.01.2022 Creating connections with our community is something we believe in so strongly at Petit Early Learning Springfield Central. Today Aunty Kylie visited Treasure Cove to share her language, her husbands language and her beautiful, artistic abilities with our Kindergartners. The children enjoyed working with Aunty Kylie in small groups, choosing animals to draw from our Yuggera Animal book and getting guidance from Kylie on how to draw each animal and add indigenous elements to our art pieces. We look forward to continuing our relationship and learning with Aunty Kylie and her family.

04.01.2022 Today we participated in a fine motor experience using spray bottles and water colour! Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. They help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more.

04.01.2022 In our Treasure Cove room children have been exploring the beauty of unique puzzles that test their critical thinking skills. Over the last few weeks, children have had so much fun getting to engage in a variety of challenging puzzles and games. From memory games to snakes and letters, they have been refining their turn taking skills as they thoughtfully wait for and involve one another. They are enhancing their resilience as they are faced with challenges and display persistence when faced with these. The focus on their faces as they overcome the challenges the puzzles pose and the beautiful satisfaction they feel when they are successful is just one of the many benefits we receive from engaging in our puzzle experiences. We cannot wait to extend the beautiful learning that has been occurring here

Here is our ninth one: can you guess who this audience capturing and entertaining educator is?! *hint*: you would be able to find her in the younger years yard.

02.01.2022 Today in the big yard Miss Allison and Miss Sarah helped us to create our own rainbow serpents. This beautiful experience is inspired by the Aboriginal story The Rainbow Serpant. We are embedding our cultural heritage into our play in meaningful ways for our children. 02.01.2022 Today our centre came together to wear crazy socks to donate to families effected by the humongous hail that hit springfield (and some surrounding suburbs) a few weeks ago. It has definitely been crazy time for our community and we are so humbled by the community spirit that has been happening here and throughout Springfield to support these families in this tough time. To bring a bit of silly and fun into our day while also encouraging conversations about this, we wore some crazy socks! Thank you to all of our wonderful families that got in the spirit with us today and those that donated. We raised a total of $250 for our Petit families in need.

01.01.2022 One of our favourite experiences here at Petit is incorporating water play into our outdoor curriculum. Water Play provides hours of rich, fun and valuable learning that adds to children’s creativity and imagination. We acknowledge that the environment is a teacher. Water play is both enjoyable and educational. It can help children develop eye-hand coordination through pouring and early math and science concepts such as empty and full, measurement and states of matter. Through our photos you can also see that it enhances social skills and encourages cooperation between the children.

01.01.2022 Thank you to all the families that joined Miss Shai and Miss Shannon for our Kindergarten Information night. This night is to help prepare our families and children for a smooth transition into the Kindergarten year. Our kindergarten program will prepare your child for school, laying the foundations for a love of learning. Thank you to Rachel from Plot Who came to speak about her gardening in the early years workshops she runs with the Kindergarten children every Friday!
