19.01.2022 Gorgeous pooch Have a great weekend. Pets R.I.P.

18.01.2022 Cat owners actually don’t need to worry too much about their little feline friends because they tend not to overexert themselves if it's too hot. What you can do though, just to give them a helping hand, is leave the air conditioning running. Cats will likely stretch out and find a cool place to lie anyway. If they don’t, use something like a cardboard box in a dark, cool spot for your cat to head to in the hot weather. Make sure there is a lot of cool ...water too. For dogs, damp towels are absolute magic! You can even get your dog a cooling mat, something that has a gel-like substance inside it that can be popped in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes. Dogs also love to play in the water, unlike cats, so having a sprinkler or a paddling pool can be great ways to have fun, but also keep them cool. Of course, you should never leave your dogs or cats in cars, no matter what the weather is, or even if it’s parked in the shade. And always remember, keep your pets hydrated with enough fresh and cool water as possible.

18.01.2022 Can Animals See Colour? It has been a well-known fact for a long time that certain animals, especially our fluffy friends who share our homes, don’t see as well as we do. Cats actually have better near sight than dogs do, but both of them still don’t see as well as humans. This changes a little bit when discussing night vision, as both cats and dogs can see better than we can in the dark. This is because the pupils and corneas of these animals are larger than those in humans. It allows more light to reach the back of the eye where the retina processes it.

14.01.2022 Laughter is the best medicine! During a lesson about adjectives, my friend, an elementary school teacher, asked her class to describe their mothers. One boy described his mother's hair as auburn. Impressed by his sophisticated word choice, my friend asked, "How do you know her hair colour is auburn?" Her student replied, "Because that's what it says on the box."

13.01.2022 Today, Owners and Directors of Pets R.I.P Beric and Sue Lees celebrate 25 years of Marriage. Congratulations to the two of you ...Beric...how many diamonds does that equal..?

12.01.2022 We got those Friday Feels. Have a great weekend

10.01.2022 Move Your Pets on Moving Day Sometimes it’s a little easier for your pets if they aren’t around when moving is happening. There are strangers in the house and it can be loud and disruptive, so it might stress your pets out a little more than normal. If they are familiar with a family friend or pet-sitter, or perhaps you’ve found some luxury kennels for them to stay at, this can often be a better move. Make Your Pets Feel at Home in the New House As soon as you’ve moved ...and introduced your pets to their new home, let them have run of the place. Let then run around, find things, sniff everything, and put their comforts close by. Make it comfortable with their familiar things. Maintain a Routine If you get up at a certain time and feed your dog, if you take your pup for a walk or if you do anything out of the ordinary, it might make things a little more uncomfortable, so try to keep things to what you do normally. There are a number of things that Pets R.I.P can recommend to new homeowners or people that move, but the main things are to just keep them comfortable. We’d also suggest keeping cats indoors for a week or so post-move, just to help them adjust. And as always, take note of a veterinarian in your area just in case!

10.01.2022 Pet First Aid - HEAT STROKE Heatstroke can occur from several things, however, we have put a list together of the most common: .Exercising in the heat .Pets being left in parked cars .Pet clothing on in summer ... .Signs of heatstroke are vomiting or drooling, being very hot to touch, rapid breathing or panting, distress, loss of coordination and collapse. WHAT TO DO: .Call your Vet for direct advice and help. Remove your pet from the hot environment and run cold water over the back of their head. Place cold packs or wet towels between the back legs, on the belly and in the armpits. Take your #pet to the #vet immediately continuing to apply cool wet towels to the back of the neck.

08.01.2022 Thunderstorm & Fireworks - What to do if you pet is feeling anxious. During fireworks or thunderstorms, the best thing you can do for your pet is provide it with a safe and comfortable environment and give it no further reason to be fearful. Having you there will help provide your pet with comfort and support. If you are medicating your pet, remember to do so before any anxiety sets in. Ensure you follow the dosage instructions that your vet has given you, and work out a plan... to get your pet to consume the medication in the most normal or least stressful way possible (such as hiding it in its dinner). Before the fireworks start, take your pet into the safe room and scatter some treats to keep it distracted and happy to be in the room. It's probably advisable to allow your pet to exit and enter this room freely if it is accustomed to roaming freely around the house. When the fireworks start, continue with normal activities and keep your voice in a typical tone. This will give your pet no reason to think that there may be something worrying or unusual about the situation. If your pet becomes anxious, do not change your behaviour or voice. Maintain normal behaviour with the pet. #petcremation #pets #toowoomba #cremation #care #reviews #petsrip #thunderstorms

08.01.2022 Getting ready for the cooler weather: #Grooming Tips for #Winter! It’s important to maintain a good grooming regime throughout winter, especially in #cats and #dogs with longer #fur. Avoid shaving or cutting their hair as the longer fur keeps them warm during winter, Don't forget to brush more often to keep their fur free of knots and matting.

07.01.2022 Keeping Your Pets Safe from Snakes This Summer It’s summer, it’s hot, and there are all sorts of animals out and about. While snakes can also be pets, there are many that are wild, especially in the more rural areas. Perhaps not looking for a fight or any sort of trouble, it happens all too often that pets can become entangled in a fierce battle with snakes in Australia. At Pets R.I.P, we specialise in some of the most affordable pet cremations Toowoomba has to offer, but ...we’d much rather your pets stay safe. That’s why we put together this guide on keeping your pets safe from snakes this summer. The Statistics and the Good News The most important thing to remember is that around 80% of pets will survive being bitten by a snake if they are treated quickly enough. Pets that are left untreated have a survival rate that plummets. It’s also something that won’t keep your good boy down in the dumps for too long because recovery is usually just a couple of days for the less severe bites. There are over 6,000 reported snake bites in pets annually in Australia and 78% percent of them occur in rural areas with the most common bites coming from tiger snakes and black snakes. The most common pets being bitten are cats and dogs too, rather unsurprisingly. This many bites is actually twice the number of people that are bitten by snakes each year, so it’s far more common than you think. Tidying Up at Home Clearing out your garden by filling up holes in the ground, mowing the lawn often, and keeping random toys and tools out in the yard can be lifesavers for pets. More often than not, snakes will live in holes, find homes in hollow tools and toys, and lurk in the long grass. The best thing you can do at home is to keep your garden clear. Out and About When you’re on the move, keeping your dog on a lead is the best way you can protect him or her. If you’ve trained your dog well from a young age, you should be able to recall them when they get near any kind of bush, rocks, or holes. Remember If your dog is bitten by a snake, seek veterinary help immediately! Don’t delay! Try to pull your pet clear of the snake without antagonising it! Don’t try to catch the snake or kill it. Call your vet and tell them what happened. Don’t feel like you need to identify the snake or bring it with you to the vet. Just describe it if you can. Take your dog to the vet immediately. Call a snake catcher to deal with the snake. Remember, the faster you act, the quicker you can save the life of your pet pal! Here are some common signs and symptoms of a snake bite: Extreme Lethargy Shaking and/or Twitching Collapsing Loss of bladder or bowel control Breathing difficulties Paralysis Coma or Death

At Pets R.I.P, we know how tough it can be to lose a pet. We are on call 24/7 and have pet cremation packages for tiny, small, and large pets. 06.01.2022 Those of us who live rurally are used to the #spiders that share our homes. However, knowing what to do if your pet is bitten is crucial: What To Do If You Suspect A Spider Bite. First of all, don’t panic and apply ice or a cold compress to the affected area to reduce the swelling and relieve the pain. If possible try and identify what type of spider bit your pet if possible. Take your #pet to the #vet immediately and let them know that you suspect a spider bite.

04.01.2022 SUMMER TIPS FOR PETS: Offer plenty of water and shade. Don't leave your dog alone outside for long periods of time and when and if they are there, make sure they have shade and lots of fresh, cool water. Add ice cubes when you can. Tip: Trees are better than doghouses for shade. #petcremation #pets #toowoomba #cremation #care #reviews #petsrip

03.01.2022 Appaloosas are known for their spots, which come in patterns such as leopard (spots all over), blanket (spots just on their rumps), frost snowflake, and marble. But did you know that many Appaloosas also have striped hooves?

03.01.2022 Ethical Pet Cremations in Queensland Pet cremations in Queensland are becoming more popular as people look to find a way to pay tribute to their pets and the time they spent in the family. At Pets R.I.P, we only cremate pets individually, so that those who pay for memorial boxes or urns will only have the ashes of their own pet, and not a mixture of others. Every pet that passes through our doors will be treated with the same love and respect that you’ve given to your pet ...over the years. We are dedicated to giving them a respectful send-off which will give you the peace of mind that your pet’s body is looked after the entire time. We can also completely personalise our services to cater to your family’s needs and have many choices for pet’s ashes and keepsakes to remember your pets. Pets R.I.P operates by the same high standards that funeral directors and crematoriums do.
