25.01.2022 Communication. By Chris McCormick As a health professional who sees clients clinically, clear and effective communication is an integral component of successful client outcomes. Last week, I was chatting with a colleague @pinnaclehealthgroup about this. Since mandatory mask wearing commenced in Melbourne, weve noticed that were both taking more time to explain our treatment plans with clients.... Were also creating a stack of (hopefully) helpful and informative video content to keep our clients on track with their wellness goals. Clearly and concisely getting the message across is our goal here. Ive really focused on slowing down my average speaking rate to make sure Im not rambling along in an uncontrolled manner. Id love to know if you have focused on any strategies to help with your effective communication recently. Comment below

22.01.2022 I get cabin fever at the best of times. I hate the feeling of being cooped up and missing out on sunshine, nature, beaches, cafes, playgrounds with the kids, and lots of things. Many agree that one positive to come from no commute to work is the time saved and less rushing in the morning (certainly not as fun as nature, beaches and playgrounds).... But one of the negatives to this is the lack of incidental exercise from getting to and from the workplace. And if you are like me, those steps getting to work, the hustle to meetings in other buildings or other floors, and getting back to pick up the kids after work has been replaced with a bit more work and phone/screen time. To fight this, we are working with many of our clients and launching Healthy Movement Challenges to inspire healthy changes for employees right now. Teams within their organisations are competing to walk the most steps (whilst practising social distancing and mask wearing in Melbourne of course), and the friendly competition and knowledge of results is so powerful in creating that change. So simple, but so powerful for employees at the moment #inspirehealthychange #workplacewellbeing #employeewellbeing #corporatehealth #hr #employeeengagement #stepchallenge #getmoving #healthandsafety #workplacewellness

22.01.2022 BTI By Tom Bosna. I noticed some happy kids cruising on roller-skates last night in the neighbourhood and it reminded me of roller-skate rinks in the eighties/nineties. It reminded of a time Before The Internet (BTI) and got me thinking the following:... BTI I could memorise my closest friends landline phone numbers. BTI my best shirt was a hyper colour t-shirt. BTI I watched Agros cartoon connection and full house as my only dose of screen time (1 hour) BTI I applied for my first job at Franklins supermarket in person with a handwritten CV that listed all my hobbies. BTI I read encyclopedia Britannica at home to learn about other countries. BTI I would ride my bike to blockbuster pick 5 weekly movies for $10 BTI I stored memories, not photos. BTI I was physically active, socially connected and growing each day. This is not just a 90s nostalgic post but a reminder that BTI life was beautifully simple (not perfect) and optimised for #wellbeing If you could teleport one wellbeing habit from BTI to now - what would it be? NB: #nostalgia is great for eliciting positive emotions and feelings. Try the finish this sentence: BTI I__________________ #wellbeing #mentalhealth #smashhits #workplacewellbeing #workplacewellness Image @luckyskateswa

21.01.2022 Employee wellbeing starts with the culture of an organisation. Pinnacle Health Group had the pleasure yesterday of helping @westernunion launch the Stronger, Together employee wellbeing program - incorporating mental, physical and social wellbeing support initiatives across APAC. Well done to Dr. Natalie Flatt Ph.D and Sasha Milinkovic from @connectpsych1 for delivering such a personable and practical session around the principles of RUOK Day @ruokday with brilliant guideline...s to supporting mental wellbeing of each other/ourselves. It was testament to the wellbeing culture created by @westernunion that nearly 200 employees dialled in for this first session from numerous countries and time zones. Much more will be spoken about RUOK Day prior to Thursday, 10th September. Even more must continue to be shared repetitively, particularly in our current global environment. #mentalhealth #corporatehealth #wellbeing #employeewellbeing #employeehealth #wellness #resilience #workplacehealth #leadership #employeeengagement #culture #ruokday

20.01.2022 Heres a little about wellbeing on Wednesdays and how Ive created a new habit. As a visual person, Ive stacked a few things using the letter W. 1. Wednesday, Wellness, Walking. I walk to and from work on Wednesdays.... 2. For me the colour of wellbeing is Green, so Ive colour-coded my diary Green in the morning and afternoon. 3. If Im really busy, I look at the Green in my diary and it reminds me of traffic lights and Green means go. So I walk. Have you colour coded your diary for movement? #workplacewellbeing #workplacewellness #steps #mentalhealth

19.01.2022 The To Worry List by Tom Bosna. No doubt you have a solid weekly To-Do List. Perhaps you even have a weekly To-Dont List? But do you have a To Worry List?... Yes, I know, it feels counter-intuitive, but hear me out. In Melbourne there are so many things to think and #worry about right now. Its totally normal. Phrases that I always use, like not a worry and no worries just dont feel right at the moment. I dedicated myself to a To Worry List yesterday. A cathartic process, no judgement, no solutions just getting things down on paper. Do you know exactly what you are worrying about right now? Tip: This is also a great team exercise in the workplace. Comment with your favourite Aussie worry phrase. #mindset #mentalhealth #mindfulness #workplacewellbeing #workplacewellness #employeewellbeing #melbourne #toworrylist

09.01.2022 We have a genuine case of the Zoom Gloom. So, to battle this, we have turned most of our meetings into virtual walking meetings. Its a perfect way to collaborate - squint with ears and get some endorphins going. Tell us what best practice you use to beat #zoomgloom ?

08.01.2022 How do you really know how your employees are doing? You dont. Unless you ask.... One of the best methods utilised by HR and wellbeing teams in the last few months is structuring an Employee Engagement survey. With the right feedback loop, the survey can reveal some deep insights and create some positive changes for your workplace. Its an important time for measurement, however, if you do not have following remote working practices in place, get started with the basics below. 1. A structured daily or weekly meeting rhythm that is proactive, results focused and allows room for sharing the wins. 2. A rhythm of meeting with a manager 1:1 to align expectations, set goals and mentoring. 3. A wellbeing culture/policy that is championed by leadership (i.e floor > wall culture). 4. Weekly company wide communication that brings it all together. One message, one team. Its not too late to measure engagement and its never too late to enhance your team rhythm and culture. If you would like a copy of the most recent employee engagement survey utilised internally at Pinnacle Health Group Australia please comment below with a and we will send it to you. #employeewellbeing #leadership #hr #teamengagement https://pinnaclehealthgroup.com.au/workplace-wellness/

08.01.2022 Stronger, Together. The workplace is not only responsible for the health and safety of its employees - but it shapes the wellbeing of families, friends and communities that its people interact with. This is evident now more than ever, and the effect of supporting employees through our current circumstance spreads so much further than you might think.... Another wonderful example of being #strongertogether launched this week with @jemenaltd kicking off their remote wellbeing program - a structured program of online workshops, exercise classes and a healthy movement challenges to support the physical and mental wellbeing of staff. Well done Riain Casey for getting the team moving, and Jemena for rolling out this super important program right now. 05.01.2022 Incidental exercise is so important right now! With many of us in Melbourne restricted to 1 hour of exercise, like running or walking, at the moment, it is very easy to lack motivation for moving generally. But consider the other things that you can do around the house to keep you moving, and you can even get a cleaner house, tidier garden or sparkling car as part of the deal.... What are some other ways that you have been getting your movement medicine lately? #lockdown #staysafe #getmoving #covid19 #wfh #hr #workplacewellness #employeewellbeing #ceo #strongertogether #stepchallenge

05.01.2022 Stronger, together. We have been so lucky at @pinnaclehealthgroup to continue our mission over the last few tricky months: to inspire healthy change for workplaces and employees. Our Stronger, Together programs have been based on Covid survey data and client strategy sessions, and incorporate mental, physical and social wellbeing pillars.... These programs have enabled organisations across Australia to provide a structured program of wellbeing initiatives to remote employees. We intend on doubling down on this for the rest of the year to continue inspiring healthy change in the most important time, and to help guide workplace wellness for workplaces of the future. Id like to take this opportunity to personally thank the amazing clients that believe in the power of wellbeing to shape the lives of employees, teams, families and communities. Your engagement in mental health support workshops, parents and kids exercise classes, injury prevention resources, WFH workstation assessments, telehealth physio, step challenges and a huge range of initiatives to support employees across APAC has been so great to see. https://pinnaclehealthgroup.com.au/workplace-wellness/

04.01.2022 Magnolias by Josh Lambert. Stopping to smell the roses. Or to admire the magnolias.... My wife Alice is a florist, so the magnolia petal doesnt fall far from the tree with my eldest daughter, Ruby. One of the silver linings for me since March, despite all of the crazy life changes, has been the ability to stop and appreciate the simpler things. Things that rushed lifestyles make you forget to prioritise. Ruby and I have a pretty cool morning routine now, that has changed a whole lot since Pre-Covid times. Gone are the mad dashes to childcare or kinder, me running to the train and being grumpy if I missed the first available, and getting to work feeling like Id already run a marathon. Or at least a 1500m dash. These sprints have been replaced with a slower jog (Ruby on her bike), and the ability to stop and appreciate the magnolias and camellias that are blossoming now - and generally enjoy the process of getting into the day. I still really miss bustling workplaces, coffee catch ups, client meetings in buildings across CBDs, and human interaction - but I can really appreciate now that rushing to get there isnt all that its cracked up to be. #gratitude #corporatehealth #workplacewellbeing #employeewellbeing #getmoving #hr #workplacewellness #employeeengagement #stepchallenge #wellness
