24.01.2022 Loving the atmosphere and teamwork at MS 24 Hour Mega Swim at Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre At the time of taking these shots poolside, I heard an amazing $21,000 + had already been raised over the speakers. Congrats to everyone involved and given COVID an amazing effort!

24.01.2022 Sometimes to get the perfect shot you need to reach new heights! Today saw us photograph some yummy Japanese at Aji Koma in Hobart CBD for Uber Eats headed back post shoot and enjoyed the Ramen on offer immensely!

23.01.2022 So with a belly full of local pizza and ginger beer - what does one do when the call goes out to assist a stranded whale? strap on a camera and jump in the water. Documenting this event is important for a number of reasons - primarily to gather as much info post-rescue to assist with future events and also check to see how the whale's health progressed from the time of first arriving until the final few photos. Overnight the adult pilot whale improved immensely and by the tim...e the 3am tide came in she was vocal, fitter and willing to get back into the ocean. I returned at 5am to see the rescuers packing up and longing for a hot shower. Within 30 minutes the call came out that the whale was once again stranded on the other side of the Derwent near Opposum Bay - with help quickly on the way. Unfortunately the remote location and long road network to gain access probably impacted on getting help fast. Sadly this poor soul succumbed. During the debrief, it was clear the animal was very ill and no matter what intervention was provided it was never going to be a win-win. A big shout out to the main rescuers who braved the incredibly cold water and at times risky waves crashing on them. As I type this it's nearly dinner time and just because I love a good pizza I thought I would share some of the photos from this week's Medici Pizzeria shoot in Hobart...needless to say I will need to up my game at the gym...

04.01.2022 UPDATE 6.01am Sadly the whale has been spotted beached once more @ Glenvar Beach the whale rescue team are informed and on the way. GREAT NEWS!!!! As of 4am this morning the adult pilot whale was successfully re-floated out to sea with the help of volunteers and a decent tide. She was said to be strong, vocal and well rested. Cheers to all involved in particular the team at Whale Rescue part of Maritime Conservation (Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment)

03.01.2022 Every once in a while you come across a job that is memorable as well as rewarding on so many levels. On the weekend just gone I had the pleasure of delivering (with the help of my 12 y.o assistant) a very special client order for a family shoot with a sad yet memorable journey. I am just totally stoked to have helped them document their story.

02.01.2022 So yep after a local pizza and ginger beer what does one do? grab the bathers, secure the camera to the wrist and grab a bunch of photos...within a short period of time it was obvious all hands were needed in order to keep the whale from stranding itself. Shout out to Chris and Julia from Marine Conservation who are doing an amazing job....and even bigger shout out to the others who braved the cold water and also to Lisa Turnbull, who raced back and grabbed a bunch of hot chocolates!!!!

01.01.2022 Wow, what a jam-packed month so far for this barefooted photographer.yes even in the depths of Tassies cold winter I did take off the shoes, albeit very briefly. In the midst of the technical issues, client deadlines and the border collies deciding they love the mud more than coming inside, I managed several shoots including a some amazing 'pick-me-up' sweets by Elly's Gourmet Confectionery, a new bubble tea offering in Hobart, a number of new Ubereats jobs (YUMMO!!), a vi...deo shoot for the new La Panizza Restaurant in Lenah Valley, another shoot for the Pancho Villa team in (North Hobart), Taco Taco's amazing food truck offering, a pop star VIP shoot for Em Rusciano and finally 3 days of crew efforts for a new film being produced right here in Tas (secret Squirrel business so watch this space). When the planets aligned I managed to bring to the crew on set a plate full of Elly's finest....as you can imagine it went down a treat. Its not every day you get to finish one job and then bring the spoils on set to share with the rest of the crew. Love my job!
