22.01.2022 At this time of year we start to think about new year body resolutions. Being strong and healthy should be one! In order to be strong you need deep stability and mobility. And you can’t train one without the other. So if strength is on your 2018 wish list get there the right way. #belikeareindeer

01.01.2022 Do you sit or stand at your desk?? These funky sit to stand desks are super popular right now... but are they good ? Or are they bad for our bodies? Being Physios and working in corporate environments we see them a lot. Here’s a little about what we think and some tips... 1. Sit to stand desks do not ‘fit’ every-body. You must be open, and open to learn how you fit the desk, and how it can work for you. An assessment by an ergonomically trained physio and the right educatio...n about postures and desk use is essential. 2. Sit to stand desks do NOT mean you stand all day! The big issue with desks is the sedentary or static postures that are adopted. We must not sit all day, nor must we then stand all day. Not one is better, they are just different. The movement, the change in postures in between sitting to standing or standing to sitting is the key! So if you have one of these desks you must change your position frequently. Sit for no longer than 20-30 mins, and stand for up to 1-2 hours... after that the body shows massive signs of fatigue which can lead to injury. Be sensible. 3. Being strong and active at work is king. Movement can offset the effects of sitting!! So get moving! Integrate exercise into your work day to break up postures, wake you up, motivate your brain and ultimately to make you stronger so you can hold the correct postures. To be continued.... See more
