24.01.2022 Coaches, performance staff and athletes lead busy lives juggling many responsibilities. It can be hard to take time to pause and really notice the people around us, or when we do notice someone in our world is not their usual cheerful self or appears to be struggling, we can get distracted by the next responsibility. But it’s important we pause, pay attention to the people in our sporting community and have meaningful conversations to check in on how they are going. See below some keys messages on how to make your sporting environment a safe and comfortable space - to be able to ask your athlete or teammate - R U OK?

24.01.2022 In September, Physio Connex will be supporting an initiative by Dr Ash Bowden @doctordomore and Central Coast Primary Care to raise funds for cancer research. 20.01.2022 It’s Migraine Awareness Week ! A great initiative shedding light on one of most common disabling conditions in the world. It has an estimated global prevalence of 14.7%, that is around 1 in 7 people! It can affect anyone, from childhood through to old age, male or female. 19.01.2022 When it comes to osteoarthritis we are often asked the magical question about pain relief. Most of the time questions are fired at us about supplements but not many people realise that pain can be reduced long-term by not only completing appropriate strengthening exercises but also what food we put into our mouths. Our friends over at EatSense have provided a guest blog full of fantastic nutritional information on how to improve your joint health. Check it out below:

19.01.2022 Thank you for the feature! Welcome 2020 athletes! Always a pleasure and honour to work with the Clarke's and this important Foundation.

19.01.2022 As National Pain Week comes to a close, we recap FIVE FACTS on how to PREVENT chronic pain. Understand your pain - pain is a normal human experience, and typically acute pain is there to alert us of potential harm. Chronic pain is where the area remains sensitised for multifactorial reasons. Identifying risk factors - such as cognitive factors, mood and coping mechanisms.... Exercise regularly - physical activity reduces pain intensity, improve fatigue, function and disability. Immune-boosting strategies - attention to diet, sleep and stress reduce inflammatory biomarkers. Seek counsel where needed - referral to a psychologist to help with stress and mood, or secondary effects of chronic pain like anxiety and depression. Effective management and prevention of pain often requires patients to gain greater awareness and new skills - Dr Tania Gardner, APA Pain Physiotherapist. #nationalpainweek #pain #strategies #health #mentalhealth #physicalhealth

02.01.2022 Had my first opportunity to go on an adventurous walk for Dr Ash Bowden ‘s #MoveAgainstCancer and visited the Emerald Pool in Popran National Park. Underestim...ated how far I’d have to walk as I didn’t have 4WD access however it just meant extra steps for the day. The exercise guidelines for reducing your risk of developing certain cancers and for those living with cancer are the same, with both populations aiming to perform at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise per week (as their current ability and symptoms allow). Today I managed to achieve just over 60 minutes at this intensity (plus another 30 minutes at a vigorous intensity) lugging a toddler 95% of the walk. Physio Connex Performance Clinic
