25.01.2022 Swollen ankle following a ligament injury? A simple ankle pump exercise can help to gently ease away the excess fluid. Try this: 1. Sit on the floor with your legs out straight 2. Begin with your feet in a relaxed position with toes pointing up 3. Point your toes and then pull your toes back up towards your body... 4. Continue this movement, moving slowly but rhythmically for 2-3 minutes (Always seek advice from us before starting exercise following an injury). #MondayMovement #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys

20.01.2022 What’s the difference between tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow? Both involve inflammation of the tendons that attach to the elbow, and are caused by repetitive motion of the arms and wrist. Tennis elbow affects the outside of the elbow and forearm, whereas golfer’s elbow affects the inner side.... If you have pain in your elbow though, you probably don’t care which one it is - you just want it fixed! So give us a call and let’s get you back to your activity of choice, whatever that might be! #tenniselbow #golferselbow #elbowpain #sportsinjury #sportsphysio #physiotherapy #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys
19.01.2022 Right, it’s exercise time! Lunges develop your lower body strength and increase your endurance by working the hips, glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core, as well as the hard-to-reach muscles of your inner thighs. Here’s a handy cheat sheet for your lunges: 1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart.... 2. Take a big step forward with your right leg so that your heel hits the ground first. 3. Lower your body until your right thigh is parallel to the floor, keeping your right shin straight. The goal is to create 2 x 90-degree angles with your knees. 4. Push your right heel down into the floor and straighten both legs to return to your starting position. 5. Repeat 10 - 15 times. 6. Repeat steps 1 - 5 on the other side. #exercisetime #exercisemotivation #exerciseathome #lowerbodystrength #legexercises #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys
17.01.2022 Thinking of having a magnesium salt bath but not sure if they are any good? Magnesium salt (or Epsom salt) baths are a soothing and relaxing way to flush away those sore muscles and joints. Try it after playing sport or a big run. We recommend you always discuss with your GP before using any type of product. Have you tried an Epsom salt bath?... #physiotherapy #physio #magnesium #epsomsaltbath #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys
17.01.2022 Stiff back? Try this trunk exercise to ease off those creaks and cracks: 1. In a standing position with feet hip width apart, place your left foot in front of the right. 2. Hold your arms straight out in front of you, shoulder width apart. 3. Keeping your feet facing forward, slowly twist your body around to the left.... 4. Return to the start position and repeat 10 times. Perform to the right also (switching feet of course) #physiotherapy #physio #flexibility #rotation #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys
16.01.2022 Have you always imagined the lungs, liver or brain to be the largest organ in the body? Wrong. The skin is your largest organ and accounts for approximately 15% of your total body weight. P.s. Unfortunately humans cannot shed skin to lose weight, sorry ladies! Just good ol’ healthy eating and exercise are still the best ways. #FunFactFriday #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys

06.01.2022 The word of the month for January is Ecchymosis. That’s a bruise to you and I! Ecchymosis doesn’t only occur as a result of trauma though, like the common bruise we know well. It’s a discoloration of the skin caused by bleeding underneath. So, it can also be the result of burst blood vessels, certain medications that thin the blood, and some diseases that affect the blood. It’s usually nothing to worry about, but if you have frequent bruising with no obvious cause then you ...should speak to a doctor to be on the safe side. What’s the biggest bruise you’ve had? Tell us below (and the story behind how you got it)! #healthfacts #didyouknow #wordofthemonth #ecchymosis #bruise #physiotherapyforwomen #physioforwomen #women #prenatal #postnatal #Lockleys #physiolockleys
