23.01.2022 A broken collarbone is a common injury, particularly in children and young adults. Your collarbone connects the upper part of your breastbone to your shoulder b...lade. Common causes of a broken collarbone include falls, sports injuries and trauma from traffic accidents. Infants can sometimes break their collarbones during the birth process. During the physical exam, your doctor will inspect the affected area for tenderness, swelling, deformity or an open wound. X-rays determine the extent of a broken collarbone, pinpoint its location and determine if theres injury to the joints. Your doctor might also recommend a CT scan to get more-detailed images. Restricting the movement of any broken bone is critical to healing. To immobilize a broken collarbone, youll likely need to wear an arm sling. How long immobilization is needed depends on the severity of the injury. Bone union usually takes three to six weeks for children and six to 12 weeks for adults. Rehabilitation begins soon after initial treatment. In most cases, its important to begin some motion to minimize stiffness in your shoulder while youre still wearing your sling. After your sling is removed, your doctor might recommend additional rehabilitation exercises or physical therapy to restore muscle strength, joint motion and flexibility. Surgery might be required if the fractured collarbone has broken through your skin, is severely displaced or is in several pieces. Broken collarbone surgery usually includes placing fixation devices plates, screws or rods to maintain proper position of your bone during healing. Surgical complications, though rare, can include infection and lack of bone healing. Credit: mayoclinic.org

11.01.2022 Check out this life changing surgery! what a transformation! Absolutely incredible.

10.01.2022 Lets talk footwear!! Choosing the right footwear with good cushioning properties can reduce the impact on the body and the back when the foot hits the ground during walking and running. High heels may increase the risk of lower back pain for many reasons, one being that they compromise good posture. Needless to say we definitely wont be purchasing these high spinal heels!!

10.01.2022 A slosh pipe is a great treatment tool for many types of hand injuries. The objective is to keep the pipe level for 30 seconds, due to the weight of the water inside its harder than it looks!

10.01.2022 The Australian Minister for Health and then our APA association have confirmed and encouraged ALL allied health businesses to remain open and continue to serve their community with courage, dedication, and care. We feel this is an important ...service to ease the burden of both GP clinics and ED in hospitals during this time. The health of our patients and staff is our priority and we have implemented further hygiene and social distancing measures on arrival and within the clinic. Home visits and Telehealth are also available. Please call 4751 4152 with any questions and we look forward to continuing to care for you and your family. See more
