25.01.2022 I now have a digital thermometer to check temperatures, I can not supply masks to clients as I would roughly go through approx 30 masks per week at a cost of $50 per box of 50 and this would bump up the cost of having a treatment. I am happy for clients to supply there own masks if they feel the need.

25.01.2022 I have always had a dream of distilling my own essential oils and hydrosol but have always been busy with my other business of massage, bowen therapy and aromatherapy so now finally after growing lemon scented tea tree for 15 years on our farm and not working at the moment my dream has become real. I have a new facebook page for my second business if interested it’s called Phyto Organics, watch this space for new products and distilling.

25.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is immensely effective in the prevention, repair, and recovery of sports injuries. The Australian genius behind it was obsessed with two things, s...port, and the physical body. "Tom Bowen & Footy - Born in Brunswick and living in Geelong for much of his working life was he a tiger or a cat fan? In reality who knows, however, I think in the end he just loved footy and especially helping the players that got injured. Probably learning a lot from treating fit young men as he developed his craft. After serving in World War II, Mr. Bowen became interested in new ways of alleviating human suffering. Taking up his father's trade of carpentry and working as a general hand at the Geelong cement works in time he would treat the ailments of his fellow workers. As more people came to learn of his skills he would go on to see clients in the evenings after doing a day at the Cement Works. Before expanding to work full time as a therapist. He had a passion for treating kids and the underprivileged and disabled treating. Opening up his clinic on a Saturday morning at no charge, traveling from near and far, many would go on to have improved health and quality of life. Tom also worked with many of the sports clubs in and around Geelong, often driving all over Geelong and the surrounding district on a Saturday afternoon, attending to injured footballers and other sportspeople. He would then treat them and others on Saturday evenings back at his clinic when further treatment was necessary this was also offered as a free clinic. Older guys who I know from my own playing days who played at the time were sent to him to have injuries seen to, including a carload arriving down from Ballarat on Saturday night on occasion. Go and see Tommy Bowen they would be told, not really knowing what to expect and often bemused at what had happened in the treatment but nevertheless feeling better a few days later. I love hearing their stories. I look forward to being able to do similar in the years to come with our local footballers and netballers. It’s interesting the game has changed a lot in many ways, but the Bowen I use is very much based on what Mr. Bowen was doing back in the 50s and 60s and still very effective." Matt Hart (Matt Hart Bowen Therapy) It's not surprising more high-end athletes are turning to Bowen Therapy as it doesn't just heal the body, it puts it in an optimal state which can actually prevent injury. 19.01.2022 Masks and aromatherapy There is still so much that is unknown regading covid 19. Things we do know includes: -mask wearing contributes to a reduction in virus ...spread and we know that wearing masks can be uncomfortable when they are worn for long periods of time - most masks will lose effectiveness when damp. Please do not spray your mask with anything. If they are washable masks wash and completely dry before use as per directions - essential oils can damage fabrics which may lead to the failure of masks - over exposure to EO's can lead to sensitisation and skin damage. It would be very difficult to apply EO's to a mask at a low enough dose to mitigate this risk. Suggestions for keeping masks fresh Use mints or herbal lozenges or carry a few washable masks and change throughout the day. You will need to have an airtight container to store used masks until they can be washed. If your mask has an opening between layers you could use fresh or dried herbs like lavender, lemongrass or chamomile in a tissue or sachet for the aroma and emotional support. Keep your lip balms handy, as lips can get dry more quickly whilst wearing masks. Using your essential oils for emotional support for yourself, your family and your clients will be crucial during this time. To read more about essential oil support for COVID-19, check the articles written by the Tisserand Institute and Salvatore Battaglia.

19.01.2022 Certain foods can have a big impact on the structure and health of our brains. Eating a brain-boosting diet can support both short- and long-term brain function..., particularly memory and concentration. The brain requires certain nutrients to stay healthy. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, help build and repair brain cells, and antioxidants reduce cellular stress and inflammation, which are linked to brain ageing and neuro-degenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The foods below have been shown to be brain-boosting. On the flip side, sugars, additives and too many saturated fats, may damage brain cell structures and lead to early brain degeneration.

18.01.2022 Eat more Brazil nuts.

17.01.2022 WHY ARE THE PSOAS MUSCLES CONSTANTLY CONTRACTED DURING PROLONGED PERIODS OF STRESS? Whether you run, bike, dance, practice yoga, or just hang out on your couc...h, your psoas muscles are involved. That’s because your psoas muscles are the primary connectors between your torso and your legs. They affect your posture and help to stabilise your spine. The psoas muscles are made of both slow and fast twitching muscles. Because they are major flexors, weak psoas muscles can cause many of the surrounding muscles to compensate and become overused. That is why a tight or overstretched psoas muscle could be the cause of many or your aches and pains, including low back and pelvic pain. ANATOMY Structurally, your psoas muscles are the deepest muscles in your core. They attach from your 12th thoracic vertebrae to your 5 lumbar vertebrae, through your pelvis and then finally attach to your femurs. In fact, they are the only muscles that connect your spine to your legs. Your psoas muscles allow you to bend your hips and legs towards your chest, for example when you are going up stairs. They also help to move your leg forward when you walk or run. Your psoas muscles are the muscles that flex your trunk forward when bend over to pick up something from the floor. They also stabilize your trunk and spine during movement and sitting. THE PSOAS AND FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE The psoas muscles support your internal organs and work like hydraulic pumps allowing blood and lymph to be pushed in and out of your cells. Your psoas muscles are vital not only to your structural well-being, but also to your psychological well-being because of their connection to your breath. Here’s why: there are two tendons for the diaphragm (called the crura) that extend down and connect to the spine alongside where the psoas muscles attach. One of the ligaments (the medial arcuate) wraps around the top of each psoas. Also, the diaphragm and the psoas muscles are connected through fascia that also connects the other hip muscles. These connections between the psoas muscle and the diaphragm literally connect your ability to walk and breathe, and also how you respond to fear and excitement. That’s because, when you are startled or under stress, your psoas contracts. In other words, your psoas has a direct influence on your fight or flight response! During prolonged periods of stress, your psoas is constantly contracted. The same contraction occurs when you: sit for long periods of time engage in excessive running or walking sleep in the fetal position do a lot of sit-ups Here are some tips for getting your psoas back in balance: Avoid sitting for extended periods Add support to your car seat Try Resistance Flexibility exercises Get a professional massage Release stress and past traumas Stretch HOW TO STRETCH Roller Psoas Stretch Use a foam roller for this passive, relaxing stretch that lengthens your psoas, one of your deep hip flexors. 1. Place the roller perpendicular to your spine and lie with your sacrum (the back of your pelvis) not your spine on the roller. 2. Pull your left knee toward your chest, keeping your right heel on the ground. You should feel a stretch on the front of your right hip. 3. To increase the stretch, reach your right arm over your head and open your left knee slightly out to the left. Hold for 30 seconds, then switch legs. Repeat as needed.

16.01.2022 Just unpacked my new toy, now can get down to some serious distillation of lemon scented tea tree etc while in lockdown.

16.01.2022 Thoracolumbar fascia - your classic back pain area. A highly stress loaded area as tissue structures from all over your body will make their way here as an anch...oring point. Any of those structures have the ability to place too much stress on this area, with the result of the brain firing off pain signals as a protective mechanism. Your back pain is very seldom a back problem. The whole body needs looking at.
