25.01.2022 I went to a games and learning conference last year, noticed a leaflet I picked up and have kept as a bookmark. So glad I didnt throw it away! Im not a science teacher but I do enjoy science! Have a play! These a highly suitable to primary school-aged children :) https://theyardgames.org/

25.01.2022 GOOD NEWS ! I am a registered Creative Kids provider - this means that from January 1 2019, all school children between the ages of 4.5 can receive a $100 voucher to go towards piano lessons with yours truly!

25.01.2022 Whenever major exams (AMEB, HSC, Uni-related stuff) happen my wall is flogged with results news. Its nice to see people bask in their hard work, encouraging in fact. Quite recently some of my own students have scored highly in their AMEB exams, and the marks I have received for uni have been quite nice too ... but I often think a stronger test of character is how people deal (or cope) with failure, we never talk about that part - and its sad. I wear my failure with pride, In fact have a collection of failed exams/assignments stories, and I like to share them with a discouraged student from time to time. #growthmindset, #musiced, #Education , #Productivefailure, #grit

24.01.2022 Had an idea to get my adult + older teenage students to do MOOCs (online courses) syncronously. So we watch the lectures together, do the assignments, mark each others assignments then have dinner, and play some board games.

23.01.2022 Im hosting one of these evenings again - feel free to come along, under 18s can come, as long as they are accompanied by an adult

23.01.2022 MORE SHEET MUSIC! Went crazier this time!

20.01.2022 Im a strong believer in lifelong learning, as a result, I am currently completing two masters degrees, reading a great deal, still taking piano lessons AND doing two MOOCs (online courses): one on statistics and the other on programming in C#. In school, I wasnt really into maths, though doing a course on stats and programming makes me enjoy it a whole lot in my adult years. The whole thing about being left or right brained is a misnomer (maths, music, language and science are disciplines that can be taught and learned), and I have to say, being closer to the struggle that comes with learning makes teaching feel like a true privilege.

19.01.2022 I blogged this a while back in my Masters blog - its on gamification and motivation. Feel free to read :) http://pianolessonswithrebecca.com//gamification-some-tho/ #GamificationofLearning, #gamification, #education, #motivation, #learning

16.01.2022 I got myself a Disklavier (a piano that can play and record on its own), pretty awesome what it can do! Believe it or not, this old piece of technologies is from the early 90s and runs off floppy disks! #oldtechnology, #ghostisnotplayingthepianoitselectricity, #pianopianosareawesome

08.01.2022 I blogged a little about addiction in video games, something that lots of parents seem to talk about (and be concerned over). I did a lot of reading on the area, and addiction is a real thing, but often something that we are uninformed about - have a read if you are curious! https://gamesinmusiced.wordpress.com//addiction-in-video-/

07.01.2022 When a big order goes through the mail, I get extremely excited. The gamification book is for me to read (related to my masters research), the rest for the students to enjoy :) #gamification, #books, #newmusic

07.01.2022 Brought a lot of sheet music today :)

06.01.2022 Hey Everybody! This Sunday my students and I will be busking outside of Riverwood Deli - Taste of Poland (214 Belmore Rd), from 10-1pm. Please come and support us by tossing some coins. Visit the Deli for free cheese, ham and pickle samples! All proceeds go to Oxfam.

05.01.2022 Started busking for my masters research. If youre not doing anything around Parramatta, Strathfield, Hurstville or Berala station, say hi :)

05.01.2022 I often get asked if I teach adults, and answer is I do, and more than this, I often feel so much inspiration from seeing an adult come into the studio to take a lesson. Intensive learning normally happens after university or secondary level schooling. A full time job/degree, mortgage, children, aging parents (and other adult-y) responsibilities inevitably lead to feeling stripped of time and in spite of this, these impressive adults take piano lessons, and see me, to fulfill their curiosity, embrace the mantra of life-long learning and exercise their brains, and there is something truly very inspiring about that.

04.01.2022 Ive been following this research on the movement of pianists eyes (and naturally thinking about what this means for my playing and teaching). Here is a video that explains things very well :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVvY8KfXXgE

04.01.2022 Im convinced that heaven looks like this ... or something like this ... (a lot of piano music)

04.01.2022 Follow me on spotify at [email protected] for the playlist for grade 2

03.01.2022 Best thing about online teaching: I show my cats to my students, and they have shown me their bird, dog, cat and eggs in incubation... also there is something very soothing about hearing my fat cat snore in the corner...

03.01.2022 Feeling inspired, so beautiful!

03.01.2022 Just submitted a paper for the Games Learning & Society Conference in Madison on mobile applications and games - FEELS SO GOOD

02.01.2022 I have very fond memories of my life in the food world... started blogging about it, feel free to read :) http://pianolessonswithrebecca.com//how-the-culinary-worl/
