06.01.2022 Another great TM Landcare site - packed with interesting trees and heaps of other dense native vegetation to help our wildlife feel safe. We were very lucky to ...have a young team of Belong trainees up on the mountain today to help us maintain and define a bush track at the Tamborine Heights reserve - Contour road in Eagle Heights. We need these tracks to be accessible for weed maintenance work and also for the occasional flora survey. This is a program funded by Qld Government's Skilling Qld - and managed by Belong Community.....mainly young people who are out of work and looking to acquire some skills in conservation and land management with the hope of obtaining some useful employment after their 18 week traineeship is over. Great for them, and great for us on Tamborine Mountain, to have these willing workers help us look after our precious rainforests. This particular reserve back in 2004 was the usual Lantana right up to the road and also covered with invasive vines such as morning glory - Landcare volunteers slogged away for many years on this site..and the local community helped plant trees on a couple of National Tree Days. Assistance from Council and funding from our Piccabeen bookshop helped to create this magic forest ...well worth a stroll down the track..easy steps down from the road.
