13.01.2022 Hi, I'm Ben. I created Picnic for Our Future after being incredibly moved by my friend Amelia's story about her foster and adoptive children and what their experience of life is like. I've seen first-hand her profound love and dedication to her kids, and hearing her recount their asking if she loves them as much as her other children broke my heart. Every kid needs security that they are loved and supported. When kids "age out" of out-of-home care (OOHC), they are left to fen...d for themselves, without communities or systems for support in transitioning into adulthood or processing their experiences. The statistics paint a bleak picture. Despite this, those who defy the odds have a unique and untapped perspective in the lessons they've learned and challenges they've overcome. I saw an opportunity to close this loop. For adults of OOHC to pass on their experiences and inspiring stories to the next generation and their families. To show them a future of possibility. To help them connect with and trust the love that is there for them now. That's what we're creating with Picnic for Our Future. You may know carers. You may know adults of OOHC, perhaps even without knowing it. Please share this message with everyone. It could make a real impact in the life of a child who is living through an experience that is difficult for most of us to comprehend. Thank you!

06.01.2022 Picnic for our future is all about helping kids in Out of Home Care (OOHC) to connect with the possibility of a brighter future. We're doing this with a small picnic at Rocks Riverside Park in a few weeks. We are looking for families and mentors to help create this amazing event!
