16.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Picton NSW has partnered with Wollondilly Shire Council to spread some Christmas cheer to residents who lost their homes in the Green Wattle ...Creek Bushfire. Rotary have given a grant to Wollondilly Shire Council to allow Wollondilly residents who lost their homes or suffered significant damage to purchase plants or gardening supplies from local nurseries to regenerate their gardens and support local wildlife. Each resident who lost their home or sustained significant damage to their home may be eligible for $300 in vouchers which can be redeemed at six nurseries across Wollondilly Shire including Dowler’s Nursery, Downes Wholesale Nursery, Maryvale Farm Nursery, Sunset Nursery, Tahmoor Garden Centre or Thirlmere Nursery. Wollondilly Shire Council is very excited to partner with the Rotary Club of Picton to deliver this project as it will not only support our bushfire impacted residents, but also several local businesses who were impacted indirectly by the Green Wattle Creek Bushfire. For many residents the increased costs associated with rebuilding or repairing their homes and replacing things like machinery and fencing has made landscaping a low priority. It is hoped that these grants will allow residents to replant gardens with established trees to regenerate their gardens, support wildlife and regain lost privacy. The vouchers are available now at Wollondilly Shire Council and can be used any time until 31 May 2021. Residents interested in finding out more or obtaining their vouchers can contact Wollondilly Shire Council on 4677 1100 or email [email protected]

11.01.2022 Picton Rotary is delighted to announce another successful grant application to RAWCS of $6000 from the Bushfire Relief Fund. This follows $50,000 grants each for the Bargo Dingo Sanctuary & the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary in Bargo earlier this year. Rotary Club of Wollondilly North Inc. have also been successful with this grant campaign and are currently delivering a Youth Mental Health project for the Shire. This money will go to nursery gift vouchers for 19 home-owners in... Wollondilly who were totally burnt out and some plants for 6 who were partially burnt. Each will receive a $300 gift voucher to a local nursery to purchase native trees / plants to restore their gardens. A representative from Council states - The benefits of this project will include: # improved mental health & social well-being of fire impacted residents. # increased feeling of security due to increased privacy. # Re-establishment of local flora & fauna # return of wildlife to the area. Wollondilly Shire Council will distribute the vouchers on behalf of Rotary. On the outside it appears to have been a quiet year for Rotary clubs as we can't do our usual fund-raisers but we are still hard at work in a different way and are pleased to again work in partnership with Council.

11.01.2022 Grateful thanks to Debbie Vance PHF from @RotaryGraphics who provides clubs worldwide with free graphics to use on our online media.

10.01.2022 UPDATE: Our club has made the prudent decision to postpone our changeover celebrations to a couple of weeks time due to uncertainty with restrictions & the recent outbreak in our beloved Picton. Ruth Smith & her Board will still be inducted next Monday 27th July via Zoom so anyone wishing to join in can send their email address to our Zoom expert Geoff Cannon [email protected] who send the link prior to the day.
