15.01.2022 What is D I A S T A S I S R E C T I? - Diastasis recti is your post-pregnancy belly and is completely normal & common But that doesn’t mean that you can’t fix it ! ... . Defined as a 2 finger gap or greater between the 6-pack muscles. . Most women might describe it as a Soft Tummy Or Protruding Stomach a Dome that forms when you do a sit up . What I’ve noticed over the years working in the fitness industry is there really isn’t enough information for women about Postpartum Recovery. . When a doctor gives you clearance to go back to exercising after 6-8 weeks, Are women aware of what kind of exercise will help their recovery? Or even aware of what will make it worse? . During the 3rd trimester every woman has an abdominal separation, it’s a normal process of pregnancy . During the weeks after birth this separation seems to close by itself for some of us, and not for others ! SO it’s important to get it checked & start a safe program to re close the gap and regain strength of the Core muscles & the pelvic floor & most importantly your confidence! . As I’m currently 4 weeks post c-section, it has been quite a physical journey since falling pregnant in January. . I will admit after 2 weeks post I was a little hard on myself and was not liking my post pregnancy body ( pretty silly after only 2 weeks! We are our own worst enemy at the end of the day ) . But I knew not to push the physical boundaries, the tummy needs time to heal! And that’s my message today! . So please tag a friend you know who is currently pregnant or given birth recently. . Or anyone who might think they have an abdominal separation it’s Never to late to start exercises to make improvements to strengthen, stabilise and make your tummy look better! .
