25.01.2022 All shooting and scheduled activities at the Townsville Gun Club Inc have been suspended until further notice. This is due to the restrictions put in place in response to the COVID-19 Virus. We have no reopening date however we will be aiming to resume operation as soon as it is safe to do so- as directed by the relevant authorities. Any alterations to our Competition Program for 2020 will be advertised as soon as possible. Our priority moving forward regarding our 2020 Comp...etition Program will be selecting suitable dates for any Championship events that are disrupted due to the closure. We wish to thank everyone for their support and compliance with the restrictions that have been in place out at the club. Our Special General Meeting will be scheduled later in 2020 when we resume operations. All QCTA State Carnivals have been postponed until further notice- (Roma DTL, Redcliffe Sporting, Brisbane ISSF and Toowoomba Skeet). The meeting will take place at 12 Noon in conjunction with the Lunch Break at our Bob Rogers Memorial Skeet Event. 23.01.2022 Just a quick update from the club in light of the recent COVID-19 Announcement from the QLD Government. The committee is meeting next Wednesday Night (8th July) to discuss our post COVID-19 reopening. We will be discussing the resumption of Practice and Competition Shoots including our Annual Shoot and the implementation of measures to ensure we comply with our Industry Plan. 21.01.2022 Trench Practice We will be running Trench Practice after the Working Bee this Saturday 19th September from 1:00pm. Regular DTL & Skeet Practice will also be available. Sunday Competition Shoot Our Monthly Shoot is this coming Sunday 20th September, with Trench starting at 9:00am, and the DTL getting underway at approximately 11:00am. Smoko and Lunch will be available at the club on Sunday- We would also appreciate donations of items for smoko. 21.01.2022 Bob Rogers Memorial Skeet The Bob Rogers Memorial Skeet Event will be held on Sunday 16th August from 9:00am. The 100t Event will be shot in 4x 25t Visits. We would like to thank our sponsors for this event- Glenn Reeves Electrical, Lawrence and Hanson Electrical Wholesaler and Trader Electrical Products. An event flyer will be sent out early next week. We will also be having our Special General Meeting to present our Audited Financial Report at Approximately 12 Noon. Workin...g Bee We will be having a working bee on Saturday 15th August in preparation for the event, kicking off at around 8:00am. Annual Shoot Sashes Sashes have been ordered for Event Overall Winners and the High Gun Winners from the Annual Shoot. When the sashes arrive they will be presented during our monthly shoot Presentations. Covid-19 Just a reminder to Sign in and Out on the Covid Register when you arrive at and depart from the club. 21.01.2022 Northern Zone Q C T A Tower Championship was fought by 31 shooters and black targets in the first 3 of 4 rounds made for more lost target calls than usual , but Im Sure everyone got a good read of them in short time, congratulations to our tower winners. 20.01.2022 TGC Christmas shoot was attended by 87 shooters and there were 60 hams. Many possibles were shot to go in the draw for a cash prize after the completion of the days shooting. There were also prizes drawn at the lunch break and many boxes of chocolates will find their way to someone’s waist line in the near future. Please see the attached Photos, Results to follow. 20.01.2022 It is with great sadness we announce the recent passing of Gwen Kent. Gwen was involved with the running of our club, serving time on the Committee as Treasurer and Secretary. Gwen has been a registered member of the ACTA since 2002, and has been a member of both the Townsville & Mt Isa Gun Clubs. We pass on our sincerest condolences to Gwens' family and friends, including Partner Neil and the Edwards Family. ... Gwens' Funeral will be held at the Woongarra Crematorium next Friday 2nd October. 14.01.2022 Club Re-Opening At our Committee Meeting last night it was resolved we continue with our Advertised 2020 Program Card including Practice Days from this Saturday the 11th July. A revised 2020 Yearly Program Card will be sent out next week. The only Major Change to the program at this time is that all Northern Zone Carnivals for 2020 have been cancelled with the exception of the Zone ISSF in October. An email will be sent tomorrow with the Specific Requirements individuals mus...t adhere to while at the Club. The main requirements are: the Covid 19 Register will need to be completed upon arrival and departure from the club and that Social Distancing Rules will be in place. Further details will be included in an email tomorrow. 2020 Annual Shoot Our 2020 Annual Shoot will go ahead as planned over the weekend of the 18th and 19th July 2020. There has been some minor changes to the program. Further details including a full program will be included in an email tomorrow. We will be running our Annual Shoot in accordance with our Industry Plan. Camping will be permitted and meals will be available from Smoko on Saturday. Pre Annual Shoot Working Bee We will be having a Working Bee out at the club this coming Saturday 11th July. There is a little bit to do in preparation for the Annual, it would be good to see lots of helpers out from 8:00am on Saturday. Practice will commence after the working bee. Practice Regular Wednesday and Saturday Practice will commence from Saturday 11th July. Further details will be included in tomorrows email.

14.01.2022 PRACTICE CANCELLED Further to the earlier email/post Practice Today has been cancelled. It seems the highway will be blocked for longer than expected. This is due to an accident on the Highway South of Townsville.... Earlier Message: Due to an accident on the Highway South of Townsville Practice may start a little later today (Wednesday 25/11/20). From news reports it is expected the Highway will re-open at 9:00am. Please check the road conditions before heading out to the club.

To say Jeff was ov...er the moon when we made the call to tell him the good news is an understatement!!! 11.01.2022 This weekend we are hosting 3 Northern Zone Tower Events on Saturday and our prestigious Patrons Trophy Event on Sunday. Zone Tower The Northern Zone Tower C'Ship Events begin at 8:30am this Saturday 14th November. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Due to the unavailability of a second layout this year we will be starting at 8:30am. We ask shooters that ensure they are early to nominate, and that they can be ready to go on the layout when required to avoid d...elays. Patrons Trophy Day The Clubs Patrons Trophy Day is on this Sunday 15th November. We would like to thank our Club Patron Mr Mark Stoneman for his continued support towards this event. The Events for the day are 20 Target Events and include Double Barrel, Pointscore, Single Barrel, Handicap and Continental, all kicking off from 9:00am. Patrons Trophy Prizes are awarded to the Grade Winners of the Day, with each individual event being run as Graded Cash Divide Event (Excluding the Handicap). Lunch will be available each day. 2021 Program The Committee has finalised our 2021 Shooting Program which will be sent out soon. We will be distributing our A4 Program Card, as well as a more Detailed Program Booklet for 2021.

At their recent Annual Shoot Michelle took out the C Grade High Gun, while at... today’s comp Michelle also came 1st in B Grade Single Barrel and got second in her grade in both the Pointscore and Continental events. We have decided to carry on with our Yearly Program as normal with the exception of the cancellation of the Northern Zone Trap Carnival in August 2020. Conditions for the day were perfect with Jason Phillis taking out the Overall Prize with 98/100- Congratulations Jason. The full results can be seen on the My Club My Scores App. Thanks to Glenn & Debbie Reeves (Glenn Reeves Electrical), Lawrence and Hanson Electrical Wholesaler and Trader for their continued support towards the Bob Rogers Memorial Event. Thanks to Darryl Chapman for proving a fresh Coral Trout for the Raffle Prize. I was lucky enough to win the Raffle. Thanks also to everyone who came down for the working bee on Saturday, and those who helped in the office, kitchen & bar, filled traps and helped out over the weekend.

07.01.2022 This weekend we are hosting the Northern Zone ISSF Carnival, which will be the first big hit-out on our new Trench Layouts. We will be having a short presentation to open the new layouts from 11:00am on Saturday Morning, prior to the start of the Carnival. Events: Both the ISSF Skeet and the ISSF Trap Competition will commence from 11:30am on Saturday. Please be on time to nominate as the squadding needs to be finalised before the commencement of Competition. Shooters can onl...y nominate in either the ISSF Skeet or ISSF Trap Event, with the 125 Target events taking place over 2 days. The final will be run under the old rules- a 25t Final will be shot and added to the Qualifying scores to determine the Overall Winner in each event. Please see the Attached Flyer & Pre-Nomination Form for More Information. Extra Event (Universal Trench): After the ISSF Carnival presentations are completed on Sunday we plan to host a 50t Universal Trench Cash Divide Event. We will be taking Nominations for this on Sunday. Meals: Meals will be available over the weekend including Smokos & Lunches on Saturday and Sunday, Steak Burgers & Dessert on Saturday Night and Bacon & Egg Burgers for Breakfast Sunday. We would also appreciate donations of items for smokos each day. Ammo: We have a selection of NSI & Bronzewing at the club in both 7.5 and 9 Shot. Camping: Feel free to camp at the club, camping is free. The club will be open for camping arrivals from Lunchtime on Friday. If you wish to arrive earlier than Friday please contact us to make arrangements. Practice: We will be offering Trench and ISSF Skeet Practice on Friday Afternoon between 1:00pm - 4:00pm. There will be no regular Saturday Practice. The following restrictions have been put in place to ensure the safety of our Members, as well as compliance with the recent recommendations put forward in regards to the COVID-19 Virus. - We will be open for practice for Townsville Gun Members Only... - The Clubhouse will be closed. There will be no food or drinks available from the Club (includes the bar fridge and tea and coffee facilities) Please bring your own. - The Range Register will be on the front Verandah, and the office window will be open to take payments by Card Only. No cash payments. Please bring you own pen to sign the range register. - The number of shooters on each layout will be restricted to ensure we comply with the outdoor social distancing requirements. - It is expected that people will maintain a high level of personal hygiene (handwashing, etc) and that indiviuals will comply with social distancing requirements. Be mindful while filling traps and setting/ packing up. - If you are feeling unwell please do not attend the club. - The Club Reserves the right to cancel Practice and Events at any time. At this stage it looks like our April Monthly Shoot will be cancelled. We will keep everyone updated with any alterations to our Competition Program as required. For the moment Saturday and Wednesday Practice will be on as per usual. - A decision regarding our Next Monthly Shoot will be made in early April- The North Queensland Games has been cancelled so our shoot will not be a North Queensland Games Event - Club guns will not be available for hire - Come and Try/ Introductory/ Group days have been cancelled/ postponed - Please ensure you are following the guidelines as set out by the Queensland Government. 06.01.2022 We would to thank David at Sport Grants QLD for again being successful with our latest grant application through the QLD Governments Gambiling Benefit Fund. We have upgraded our John Deere Tractor, installing a Bucket, Backblade and a set of forks as well as purchasing a new sporting trap. 05.01.2022 Christmas Shoot Results - Ham Winners from our Christmas Shoot. 87 Shooters were in attendance for the day, with Andrew Bergin taking home the 5 Slab Raffle and Greg Jones winning the $150 Lucky Draw Possible Cash Prize. Thanks to all the helpers in the Bar, Kitchen, Office and around the traps. Thanks to everyone for your support throughout 2020, and we hope to see you all next year.

04.01.2022 Our Annual Shoot will go ahead on the 18th and 19th July 2020. Further details including some minor changes to the program will be released tomorrow. We will be having a Working Bee this Saturday 11th July in preparation for the Annual Shoot from 8:00am.

02.01.2022 Dear ACTA Clubs, Zones and Members Please be advised that, at this afternoon’s ACTA Executive Committee Meeting, a motion was unanimously passed to Cancel all ...ACTA National Events for 2020. This decision was made, primarily based on: the need to protect all members health and safety, (especially given the current escalating situation in Victoria and possibly beyond), Inability to predict the likely revisions to any State or Territory Health Department restrictions that may next occur, the deadlines approaching to timeframes in which administrative tasks need to be performed in order to adequately deliver the events, and the cost implications of attempting to stage events that will be severely under-subscribed. 02.01.2022 Just a reminder the 2020 Zone Trap Carnival originally scheduled for this Weekend at the Townsville Gun Club has been Cancelled. We look forward to hosting the event in August 2021.
