The low will accelerate to the southeast, and cross the coast on Friday afternoon or evening between Bidyadanga and Wickham, including Port Hedland. HEAVY RAINFALL that may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely to commence well before the low approaches the coast, from Thursday evening and extend inland during Friday. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur over the central and eastern Pilbara and far western Kimberley. Various Flood Watches and Warnings are current for northern WA due to heavy rainfall associated with both this system and another low that crossed the eastern Pilbara coast on Wednesday. Please refer to http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/warnings/ for further details. A period of DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 110 km/h is possible in coastal regions on the eastern side of the low as it crosses. Damaging winds may develop as early as Friday morning, but more likely during Friday afternoon or evening. There is potential for this to occur between Bidyadanga and Wickham, including Port Hedland. Tides will be higher than expected on the eastern side of the track. Locations which may be affected include Port Hedland, Bidyadanga, Marble Bar, Nullagine, Pardoo Roadhouse, Sandfire, Shay Gap, Wallal Downs and Whim Creek. While this low is not expected to become a tropical cyclone, it is expected to cause heavy rainfall and winds which may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous.
