25.01.2022 Did you catch this fresh face in the Rehab Room last week? Local St Luke's College Karratha student, Indyana just completed a week of work experience with the Pilbara Physio team as part of a school-based Cert II in Fitness she’s working towards. During her time with us, Indyana was able to sit in on clinical sessions, shadow pilates sessions, watched hydrotherapy in action and assisted with front of house. Pilbara Physiotherapy is committed to continual learning and develop...ment. We take pride in offering people the chance to understand physiotherapy and ignite their passion for healthcare. Thanks for all your help, Indyana!

22.01.2022 STIFFIES NEXT BLOCK 6weeks @ 6.30pm Starting 14th June Block program- $150 (required to be paid upfront to secure a spot)... BLOKES! This one's for YOU . Did you know? Pilates was created by a man (Joseph Pilates) and has been a training vehicle for elite athletes, both men and women for over 50 years! We are proud to announce the arrival of our ‘Stiffies Group’, a men’s only exclusive six week reformer pilates program in particular for those people with stiff backs, poor flexibility or recovering from an injury. Why should men do pilates? Pilates promote core strength, flexibility, balance, uniform development, and efficient movement patterns. The integrative component of pilates can be especially beneficial for men whose workouts often emphasise a part-by-part approach to muscular development, such as weight lifting. By contrast, pilates emphasises moving from the center of the body, and developing core strength in the deep muscles of the center to stabilise the trunk and protect the back. This six week program will commence from 7 April 2021, with classes every Wednesday from 6pm-7pm (so you can squeeze in a workout after work!). We’ve only got a limited number of spaces available for this program. If you’re interested, book online: https://www.pilbaraphysiotherapy.com.au/bookings Or give us a call on on 0400126445 for more information.

09.01.2022 Did you know that Pilbara Occupational Therapy offers handwriting support? Although we commonly think of handwriting as simply what we see written on the page, handwriting actually reflects two equally important aspects: 1. Product: What the outcome looks like,... 2. Performance: How the handwriting is performed. Both these crucial aspects of handwriting are themselves dependent upon several underlying abilities including: 1. Legibility 2. Mechanics Our skilled Occupational Therapists can evaluate the underlying components that support a student's handwriting, such as muscle strength, endurance, coordination, and motor control. So what can we do to help support handwriting? - Demonstrate proper posture to supports the proper use of the arms, hands, head, and eyes. - Measure the level of physical strength and endurance. - Analyse fine motor control, such as the ability to hold a writing utensil. - Determine visual and perceptual ability that influences a child's ability to form letter and shapes using a writing utensil. For more information on handwriting support, get in touch with our friendly team: www.pilbaraot.com, give us a call 91446900 or email [email protected].
