21.01.2022 TOUGH TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FOR WA WA has the toughest local travel restrictions in the nation. As of today, anyone caught crossing into another region without good reason could now face fines of up to $50,000. The extraordinary measures, aimed to curb the importation and spread of COVID-19, include intrastate border closures, brought in today, that effectively divide the state into nine separate territories.... At a time he would usually be gearing up for an influx of Easter visitors, Great Southern Police Superintendent Ian Clarke said he had pivoted his officers from dealing with holiday crowds to patrolling the regions boundaries. "We have some permanent vehicle checkpoints that are in the outer metropolitan area but theres also highly mobile patrols that will do random vehicle check points as well as just general patrolling and stopping vehicles. "Police are looking to support people as much as we can, but we do have a very clear mandate and that is to minimise the amount of travel that is occurring around the state so that we can do everything we can to minimise the spread of this virus," he said. Here are the reasons that are permitted for interregional travel: https://ab.co/2WWhgv4

20.01.2022 Ongoing works have commenced at Karratha Airport. "The realignment and reconstruction of Bayly Avenue, the only public access road into Karratha Airport, was listed as a key project for the 2020-21 financial year and as a critical redevelopment project in the 2013 Karratha Airport masterplan. The works are set to include road widening and resurfacing, public art, a speed limit increase to 70km/h, landscaping, improved lighting and underground power. Investigations found curre...nt damage to the road, which was built in 1984, was largely due to poor drainage and ponding of water. In addition, the increase in traffic volume has caused ongoing maintenance concerns as heavy vehicles typically caused edge failures and rapid deterioration of the road surface." PTM have Traffic Management in place for day and night works with Karratha Earthmoving & Sand Supplies and Karratha Asphalt. All motorists are advised to be aware of changes to the road conditions on entry to the Airport.
