23.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY! Way back in the late 1980s to early 1990s, the Municipal Theatre was the venue for a late night jazz club called The Rockvegas Club. Some great national and international acts performed there including Ronnnie Scott, Pardon Me Boys, James Morrison, Georgie Fame and more! The menu for the evening, created by Le Bistro, a popular local restaurant at the time, was equally impressive. And just look at those prices! If you have any photos of shows at the Pilbeam or Municipal Theatres, message us! We'd love to feature them in a Flashback Friday.

21.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY! We've delved into the video vaults and look what we've found! This is an excerpt from a promotional video for the 1988 Bicentennial Theatre Season at the Pilbeam Theatre. Voiceover by venue manager at the time, Malcolm Calder. Did you see any of these shows? Did you have hair as big as the members of Fascinating Aida? It's OK to admit it, it was the 1980s after all!

21.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY! The magic of theatre. We've had some big things on stage over the years but perhaps none quite as big as a helicopter that was required in the dramatic evacuation scene of Miss Saigon (2010). In order to preserve the surprise for the audience, the helicopter (well, theatrical version of the helicopter) was transported to the venue under the cover of darkness. If you have any photos or memorabilia from shows at the Pilbeam Theatre, message us! We'd love to feature them on Flashback Friday!

20.01.2022 APPLICATIONS CLOSE MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER! If you need funding to help get an arts project off the ground, then the Regional Arts Development Fund may be able to help. 17.01.2022 Mamma Mia, here we go again! It's official, we will remount our 2020 musical Mamma Mia! in March next year, due to overwhelming public demand. The question on everyone’s lips: when can we buy tickets? Tickets will go on sale closer to the event date than usual, to enable the venue to comply with any changing COVID regulations, with a minimum of inconvenience to ticket buyers. The season was cut short due to the COVID 19 pandemic in March, and since then demand has been growing to remount the production. The show will feature your favourite company members from this year’s production. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.

17.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY! Costume coordinator Susan Earle and team member Colleen O'Donnell amongst the bright and glittery costumes for The Boy From Oz in 2011. It was during this show that a wardrobe malfunction occurred that 'cemented' the friendships of our costume team and spawned the nickname Sequin Sisters for the group. The story goes that some sequin-encrusted costumes for the show were put in the tumble dryer to get them ready for their next use. Unfortunately the sequin...s had been affixed with hot glue, which promptly melted and glued the sequins to the tumble dryer drum. The Sequin Sisters, as they became known, spent quite some time together, bonding (not literally) while they scraped hundreds of wayward sequins from the drum. If you have any photos or memorabilia or stories from shows at the Pilbeam Theatre, message us! We'd love to feature them on Flashback Friday!
