24.01.2022 Under careful instruction by our trainers we undergo competency maintenance for our chainsaw skills once every 12 months. In this training we got to use our brand new battery powered pole saw and chainsaw. We were pretty impressed with the power of both saws and how quiet they were. Another skill which is important is tying the pole saw onto the vehicle. Happy to say we passed in both.

24.01.2022 What a huge week. With both storms and searches our Pimpama team has had people out every day as have all groups over the Gold Coast. We have also had teams helping the groups up at Ipswich and Logan. The destruction up there is phenomenal. Happy to see a clear forecast for the week while families sort out their homes

22.01.2022 Very soon we will be back at face to face training within govt safety guidelines. We are always ready to welcome new members, so if you would like a fun and rewarding way to give back to your community, to make new friends and learn new skills, feel free to reach out and we will let you know when our next introductory evenings are.

20.01.2022 After members volunteering on the borders supporting QPS for 10 weeks we were straight into assisting another unit on a search for 5 days. Terrain was difficult and it was wet and cold on some days. With over 90 members from SEQ on this search it is a great show of dedication and effort and we are forever proud of our members who are able to and willing to give their time.

18.01.2022 Are you travelling through the border? New passes are now required and are changing again tomorrow. Please check the govt website every week for new passes.... We have had members assisting QPS at the border for 12 weeks now 24/7, and it certainly makes our day calmer and your border passage quicker if you have the right forms displayed. Remember you need one for each person travelling including children and babies. Help us help you.

15.01.2022 New border restrictions came into play at 1am this morning. Please research Qld border declaration #11 and apply online before crossing the border to avoid significant delays or being turned around or quarantined.

15.01.2022 A job well done by Gold Coast SES and QAS, 6 Pimpama members on scene along with around 24 other members from across our unit! Great team effort with a great result!

14.01.2022 Some of our volunteer crew taking some healthy time out while deployed down south last week.

13.01.2022 We’re proud to support the QLD SES, our heroes in orange. With boots on the ground during and after every natural disaster, the SES help our communities when th...ey need it the most. 13.01.2022 Last night Pimpama SES and Gold Cost Unit were involved in two back to back searches. Pimpama group supplied two crews. The first was an urban search in Robina for an elderly gentleman who was found promptly. The second was a three person extraction from Springbrook's treacherous Warring Circuit. Pimpama group placed a leading role in this search and we returned to the shed after midnight. Both searches had a positive outcome. Proud of the teams effort last night. Well done. David (Group leader)

12.01.2022 Recruiting Information Night. Come find out how you can enjoy being a member of SES. Next Information Night at Pimpama SES on Thursday 6th August 7pm. Contact us to book your seat.

12.01.2022 We are certainly feeling the love this week. From Public donations to SES we were able to purchase some lighting that helps us when our volunteers are out and about on searches and storm repairs and a heating tool for temporary roof repairs. Donations allow us to purchase equipment to make our job easier, so from the bottom of our hearts we say thank you to the public for donating. ... We were also successful in receiving and would like to thank Ergon Energy/Energex/power link for a grant with which we bought a FLIR (forward looking infra red) camera. This will be of great assistance on our searches.

08.01.2022 Just a reminder to stay safe and check on your neighbours...

06.01.2022 A huge weekend for SES on the Gold Coast. We had members assisting QPS at the border, we had members attending Map and Navigation course and working safely at Heights course and we had members attending to storm damage call outs. What a wet and busy weekend for our volunteers keeping our community safe and dry.

05.01.2022 It's always so lovely to get recognition for a job well done, even though our SES crew were not on this particular rescue due to being diverted to another injured hiker on Purlingbrook circuit, we are very happy to hear the positive comments and gratitude from this lovely gentleman for his rescuers. It certainly was a beautiful day to be out hiking but unfortunately with the sprinkle of rain it made the track slippery. We wish this gentleman and our other casualty a speedy recovery

04.01.2022 It certainly has been a busy few weeks on the Gold Coast for SES. Teams from all groups across our Gold Coast unit out in the wet helping our community with 393 storm damage activations completed. With more rain forecast - now is a good time to check your gutters and your roof for cracked tiles and get them attended to. SES only make temporary repairs so better to get your roof repair men out before the storm when they are not inundated with work. Blocked gutters is a cont...ributory factor to many of our call outs as the water flows back into the ceiling ..... so best get them clear before the storm. SES do not clean gutters. Stay safe and dry

04.01.2022 Last night Pimpama and Ormeau were subject to a severe storm cell, with dozens of electrical strikes unfortunately damaging many homes. At least it was cooler for our volunteer crews on the job today.

03.01.2022 Well it was a busy weekend and we got to take in some beautiful scenery (dotted in orange) of Purlingbrook falls circuit. There was two call outs at Springbrook for injured hikers and SES volunteers from all over the Gold Coast responded, alongside QAS volunteer first responders, QAS and the Fire Brigade. Our Vertical Rescue team was also activated, however we were able to extricate out by stretcher on track. If you are looking for a beautiful place to hike Springbrook certainly ticks all the boxes. Just be sure to have plenty of water, a warm jacket as it is still chilly up there and appropriate footwear as the track can be slippery.

02.01.2022 Thankyou to our amazing group of volunteers! This crew were helping the Logan unit. Its an extremely hot and tiring day on the roof !!!

02.01.2022 Members have spent the last week assisting QPS on Flood boat searches on Logan river. Our regular training and competency maintenance of skills is so important so when we are called to assist we are able to efficiently and effectively.

01.01.2022 Last night we had over 40 members at our training at Jacobs Well. Members from Pimpama, Runaway Bay, Southport and Carrara got to experience a mock flood boat activation, we built water diversion sandbag walls working against the tide, and we improved our roof tarping skills. All this to be prepared for when storm season hits so we can efficiently support our community. Lots of fun had by all. A big thanks to the members from other groups for bringing their flood boats and joining in. Our volunteers are still helping QPS on the border, attending call outs and attending trainings. We have a dedicated bunch for sure.
