16.01.2022 The Bush Fire Danger Period will offically start on the 1st October 2020 for the Southern Tablelands Zone (Goulburn Mulwaree, Upper Lachlan & Yass Shire Council areas). If you intend to continue undertaking burning activities you will need a permit, as well as notifying your neighbours and the fire control centre - failure to do so, can result in a substantial fine being issued. Permits can be obtained from your local brigade. Now is the time to prepare and test your Bush F...ire Survival plan!! For further advice in preparing, Visit: rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare

15.01.2022 The brigade was called out to a car fire near Parkwood Road this morning. The vehicle was extinguished, however, take notice of the proximity to the long grass. Any drier and windier, it could have traveled. Thanks to our responding brigade members for getting onto it quickly and to ACT Fire & Rescue for their support. Crime Stoppers NSW 1800 333 000

13.01.2022 From our friends at NSW SES - Yass Unit this morning. Some decent rain around, and the potential for storm activity. Remember to keep away from flood water and if you need assistance from the SES call 132 500 and in an emergency, call (000) triple zero.

10.01.2022 For what could be shaping up to be a high-risk grass fire season, the brigade made use of some essential core skills in grassfire tactics at tonight’s training. It was also a great opportunity for our new members to get a hands-on feel for what we do.

08.01.2022 Every day you'll find #NSWRFS and Indigenous communities working side by side, sharing knowledge, experience and culture - it's a partnership we're proud to be celebrating this #NAIDOCWeek

Whether you’re heading off the beaten track, or closer to home, download the updated Emergency + app. The app works across Australia, using GPS functionality built into smartphones to help a Triple Zero (000) caller provide critical location details required to mobilise emerge...ncy services. 02.01.2022 A call out for the brigade to powerlines down in the area this afternoon, as a result of tree branches dropping in the wind. Thankfully, the line caused the grass to only smoulder and not increase under the windy conditions. In the case of downed powerlines, we strongly advise that you don’t approach the powerline, or fences, as you may get an electric shock, or electrocuted.... As you can see in the second image, the powerline sagging and not so visible in the first image. Our neighbours did the right thing and called (000) Triple Zero. Thanks also to our brigade members who went out and also to Essential Energy for their response to isolate the power. NSW RFS Southern Tablelands Zone
