25.01.2022 Here at Pine Cottage the children and educators love caring for our garden! The children plant, water and nurture our veggie patch. Eating fresh produce from the garden is pretty special too! EYLF outcome 2: Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment

24.01.2022 We have some green thumbs at Pine Cottage Established compost bin & worm farm veggie patch has been started with some snow peas and will continue to be added to everything is done in conjunction with children....we can't wait to build up our veggie patch and use them in our cooking club, or just eat fresh for snacks!

24.01.2022 Happy Chinese new year. The children enjoyed celebrating the Chinese culture as they made dumplings together. They carefully used their hands to wet the dumpling dough and add the filling to the centre. They then gently folded the dough in half and pressed along the edges. They all did a fantastic job and enjoyed eating the delicious dumplings in celebration of the Chinese new year.... Outcome2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.

19.01.2022 World environment day was yesterday, we often try to create experiences that instill a sense of responsibility for our environment. With children, we find when we first create an appreciation for nature, a wonder in their world, we create beings who love their environment. we then can teach and guide them how to care for it....and how lucky are we that we are in a beautiful environment such as Little Bay!Mrs Hadar, our 2-3 educator is particularly passionate about this area and embeds natural experiences in her program for the children, she then involves other educators and children in this strength she possesses.

16.01.2022 An exhibition of a collaboration Pine Cottage were lucky enough to have with the coast centre for seniors we were invited for morning tea to view the children's and seniors creations, the children even baked some goodies to bring for their friends. We are excited for our next collaboration with the coast centre

14.01.2022 Recently the children had the opportunity to engage in a snake safety & reptile show hosted at the day care! We were lucky enough to learn all about reptiles and what to do if you come in to contact with a snake! #eylf #earlychildhoodeducation #snakesafety

09.01.2022 Cupcakes 4 a cure We are holding our bake sale this week for a great cause, the kids cancer project. Staff and kids alike are baking and contributing to this ...fundraiser It is a great teaching opportunity for the children and to learn to enjoy giving back. (Covid safety-all items are cooked at a high temperature and handled hygienically afterwards). See more

06.01.2022 Taking in our surroundings at Pine Cottage and what beautiful surroundings we have! The children then transferred what they say visually to an art work, which interprets their view. We plan to get out for some excursions soon, and explore further! EYLF learning outcome 2 'children are connected with and contribute to their world.

05.01.2022 Things that keep us going at this time When we feel under represented and unappreciated, when the Australian PM dosent even acknowledge you, or your industry in any of his addresses to the nation. Educators feel a bit forgotten, while we continue to come to work and try and keep normality for children with all that is going on around us. We clean, we try to keep calm and positive, we can't distance, we won't distance, the children need us to be close to them! Then we reciev...e beautiful comments from families, and even beautiful gifts such as in the pictures half of our families are at home with their children and we miss them, we hope that they can all come back to us soon. Let's all do as much as we can to stop the spread of coronavirus and keep our children at the centre of all this, we are told they are not vulnerable to the disease, but they will be affected by the whole situation in some way. show our children it's ok to be scared, it's ok to be sad, but show them strength, positivity and care for others through your actions. They will look to us for how to react in this hard time, we need to show them the way. Please look after yourself and others See more

02.01.2022 Its official, we now have a cooking club Our children often do cooking experiences at Pine Cottage, so our wonderful chef Alex wanted to ensure all children get to benefit from these experiences, creating a program with this intent. Through food we will celebrate culture, grow confidence, build life skills, celebrate achievements....and so much more!
