24.01.2022 On behalf of the members of the Pine Mountain and District Progress Association, I would like to thank all those brigades that helped with the fire in Pine Mountain yesterday. I personally saw brigades from Lowood, Fernvale, Marburg and auxiliary and urban brigades and of course our local brigade. They did an amazing job of saving the houses on Pine Mountain road near St Michaels Church. They also contained the fire by some very strategic back burning. To our local brigade me...mbers who put themselves in the gully in front of the fire and made a fire break to protect those properties on Pine Mountain Quarry Rd, you were fantastic. Thank You! Many of our Brigade members are not from Pine Mountain. If you are thinking you want to help, maybe you could think about joining the local brigade. You could also help by supporting our fund-raising efforts for the bigrade. Again, thank you to all those involved in what was an amazing effort in very trying conditions to contain and control this fire. President, Christine Ryan

23.01.2022 Special thanks to the Candidates for Division 4 for spending time with our community. Also a mention to Mayoral candidates Tesesa Harding and David Martin for showing some interest in our community. Some conclusions to make from the evening. We have a couple of candidates belonging to Political parties. Some previously belonging to Political parties and the rest are independent. Fair to comment that there wasn't a good knowledge of the issues that our community faces, and we lack the voting numbers to create any influence, which we should all be concerned about.

18.01.2022 Christmas has snuck upon us again, and we've been distracted by all the fires that have been around us. We feel it's important to recognise that on the 1st of December we have Carols in the Park at Pine Mountain, and the Rural Fire Brigade will be having a raffle. If anyone would like to donate something to raffle we would appreciate it. You can contact The Rural Fire Brigade on Ph 54670999 and ask for Karen. The event kicks off at 5pm, and yes, we've been in touch with the fellow who wears the Red Suit, and he's agreed to pay us a special visit. Kids this is no trick, only a treat! Starts at 5PM, Corner of Pine Mountain Rd and Russells Rd, fondly know as the "Cricket Pitch" This event is supported by your Pine Mountain and District's Progress Association.

18.01.2022 Not our usual Community Anzac Day gathering here at Pine Mountain but we still honoured our Service community.

18.01.2022 We've had some great sunrises with the changing of seasons!

17.01.2022 Morning, Queensland. Its important we all stay vigilant, alert and up-to-date as we roll into the weekend. Stay safe and continue to look out for one another.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Kate Kunzelmann and Russell Milligan our Division 4 Representatives in Council. They were sworn in last Friday. Also congratulations to Teresa Harding our new Mayor. We seem to have a good balance of genders and political interests and true independents in the new council. I would especially like to acknowledge the collaboration between our representatives in this Division. They have hit the ground running. They are currently undergoing the induction process but have also taken the time to check out concerns brought to their attention by locals. I am sure we are going to have a very positive and productive relationship with them. Our AGM has had to be postponed but we are hopeful of have it before the end of the financial year. Hope to see you all then.

08.01.2022 Updated: Come and ask your candidates for Council all the questions you need to know on Thursday night 12/3/20 at 7:30pm at the Pine Mountain Public Hall. Pine Mountain District will struggle to be treated fairly under the new system of Council representation. Do you know how to vote for Councillors and the Mayor at the upcoming election? Did you know:-... The Pine mountain District covers approximately of the area of Division 4; ~86% of the voters live in less than 8% of the area of Division 4. How will our representative truly advocate for the remaining 14% as it is easier to gain votes from the concentrated urban areas? 75% of our residents (over 65 years) are not on social media and therefore missing out on Council information regarding changes; 33% of our low socioeconomic residents are not connected to the internet and therefore also missing out; There has been much talk about increased transparency and regaining the trust of the community. How do you propose to do this given this will be a Council with very little experience replacing an administrator who was not elected and now with an entrenched bureaucracy? The changes put in place by the administrator have led to a downturn in business in Ipswich Central putting it 10 years behind with businesses moving on. Councillors regularly met and communicated with their communities and were accessible to them via the divisional offices. This was a transparent process. Do you see the current set up with Councillors not desking at the Council Office and having to make appointments with Council staff to access administrative help as sustainable and meeting community expectations? Have you any experience in developing and approving budgets involving $606m+. What assurance can you give that this next budget will be in the best interests of the Ipswich community? Have you been involved in planning large budgets that stretch forward for 10-15 years+. Getting elected may be the easy part. What skills and experience do you have in managing highly skilled professional staff who have more knowledge than you in the council processes? Ipswich was promoted by Mr Ipswich and was widely recognisable however the media presented good news in Ipswich as 'West of Brisbane' while bad news was always said to relate to 'Ipswich'. How will you tackle this mind set which starts with the State Government, so that Ipswich is presented in a positive light?

07.01.2022 The change Commission report has been sent to the Minister recommending adoption of the Interim Administrators recommendation regarding the Council Division, however it is noted that, Given the unique situation in Ipswich and the significance of the changes being recommended by this review, the Change Commission recommends the Minister consider directing the Ipswich City Council, in consultation with the Change Commission, to conduct a mid-term review and community consult...ation in 2022 to gauge residents experiences and satisfaction with the multi-member arrangement and divisional boundaries. Due to the high-level growth anticipated in the Ipswich region, the Change Commission notes it will likely be reviewing Ipswichs divisional boundaries in 2023 prior to the next quadrennial election. Therefore, it is of the view that it will assist the 2023 assessment process to have a better understanding of the communitys experiences, and particularly whether the multimember arrangements are meeting the communitys representation requirements. https://www.ecq.qld.gov.au//ipswich-city-local-government- From your Progress Association

01.01.2022 I have noticed that there have been a few people mentioning Green Ants at the Cricket Pitch, and that is impacting use of the area. If this is something you have noticed or had trouble with, can you please confirm this has been an issue? If so, I can send an email on behalf of the Pine Mountain and Districts Progress Association about having this resolved. - Secretary.
