25.01.2022 Rest is one of the most neglected elements of the holiday season. We’ve all had a busy year, but instead of taking the time to wind down, we ramp it up! Sleep is the time that we recuperate, but as many as 1 in 3 people don’t get enough. If it’s 11pm and you’re watching this video cut it out, it’s bed time. Too much technology before bed can leave our body confused and wired, making it hard to fall asleep or hard to stay asleep. Are you knocking back caffeinated dri...nks until late in the day? Try cutting back on the coffee, tea or energy drinks, especially in the afternoon. Do you have a supportive pillow? Your sleep posture may be a factor to your restless nights. If you think this might be you, ask one of us at your next chiropractic appointment for a pillow assessment. Try out these 3 changes and hopefully we’ll have you snoozing into 2021!
22.01.2022 The sun is out, and you should be too! Exercise is arguably one of the best things you can do for your health it reduces your risk of nasty diseases and has been tightly linked to better sleep patterns and reduced stress levels. If you’ve fallen off the exercise wagon, don’t overcomplicate it - walking is underrated! Grab a buddy and get out for a stroll. It’s also good to do some movement that gets our heart pumping. Dr Ginny has been working on her running, which definitely ticks that box! Exercise more days than you don’t, aiming for 30-45 minutes your body will love you for it!

17.01.2022 With the school day back in full swing, there is a lot of hours of our kids concentrating & playing their friends. That being said, we need to fuel them with a lunchbox of goodness! See if you can hit the high points: sneak in a piece of fruit , add a sneaky vegetable like lettuce, tomato and/or cucumber to their ham and cheese sandwich, and throw in some healthy fats like nuts that will keep them fuller for longer. Popcorn is a crowd favourite here at PFC too.
17.01.2022 It's back to school season and it's important to discuss the impact backpacks can have on growing spines. Heavy bags, slung over one shoulder are a big no-no, and can set our favourite little people up for aches, pains or postural issues. Try to keep bags as light as possible, and share the load by making sure you're using both straps. Tighten the straps so the bag is nice and secure against the mid-back, instead of swinging down by their knees. Doing up any chest or waist ...straps will also help avoid slumpy spines. If you're unsure, have a chat with your chiro at your next appointment and we can help you with your setup. Happy backpacking!

Get out in the sunshine for a walk, swim, ride or scoot If you feel like being humiliated like Dr Ginny, challenge them to a running race

05.01.2022 Back to school time is in full swing, and we're seeing screens becoming more and more common both in and out of the classroom. Because of that, we want to remind you to reduce the tech-time where possible, even though it's tempting to get home from school and collapse onto the couch for a big post-school TV bender. All of those hours add up and can leave us with grumpy, wired kids. When they ARE trying to perfect their Minecraft village, be conscious of dodgy posture. Encourage straight spines and avoid any hunching. Sometimes it can feel like an uphill battle, but we believe in you!
