22.01.2022 Diwali Show The highlight of 2020 so far was today's Diwali celebration at our centre. Julie and Nicola, full of energy, started the show with a festival of lights parade and then they showed our friends some Bollywood dancing moves. We saw the Snake Charmer play his special instrument that drew the snake out of its basket. Happy Diwali and a prospero...
20.01.2022 Poppy flowers for Remembrance Day Our Buds (2 - 3 yrs) made poppy flowers by sticking poppy flower paper cut-outs onto paddle pop sticks with some help from an educator. Before starting the activity, an educator talked about Rememberance Day and what it is all about. Some children asked what kind of flowers we are making and why they are significant? They also asked "why are the flowers red in colour?" Our Buds showed their confidence, communication skills and interest towards the activity making us very proud. By making the flowers, the children enhanced their pincer grip skills by cutting the leftover red paper with scissors displaying fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination skills. Great Listening Buds!
10.01.2022 In Blossoms 1 (3-4 yrs), we have been focused on stranger danger and how to stay safe. In small groups the children participated in a stranger sorting activity where they look through the cards and identify the occupations known as 'safe strangers' (police , paramedics , doctors, nurses and fire fighters) or which strangers are people we do not know. As a group we talked about the difference between 'safe stranger's and strangers, we also learnt that safe strangers are strangers who wear uniforms and name tags to help us when we are lost or in trouble. Throughout the experience, the children learnt how to be safe, why its not safe to talk to strangers and what we should do when we are lost or scared due to strangers. Great listening Blossoms 1!
09.01.2022 Do you need any washing done? Our Blossoms 1 children (3 - 4yrs) are more then happy to help you out! Recently the children have shown interest in washing machines by putting baby doll clothing into the washing machine Making connections between their home environment and the resources in the Blossoms room, the children are able to transfer their knowledge to their play. They selected the dirty clothes and put them in the washing machine before adding washing liquid and turning it on! Once the washing finished, they put the clean clothes into the washing basket before hanging them on the clothes line to dry. Throughout the experience the children are connecting to their world through hands on experiences
08.01.2022 In the Blossoms 1 room (3 - 4 yrs) the children have shown interest in baking and cooking To extend their interest our Blossoms requested to make strawberry cupcakes with chocolate icing As a group we talked about what ingredients are needed to make cupcakes and the method to be followed. Taking turns, the children added the ingredients into the bowl before mixing it all together This provided the children with hands on knowledge of baking and the chance to express their knowledge practically! Once the cupcakes were baked the children enjoyed them for afternoon tea!
07.01.2022 In the kindergarten room, our Poppies (4 - 5yrs) explored mathematic concepts with different sized cylinders and different sized pom poms They had to use their visual perception in transferring the associated size pom poms into the cylinders, observing and comparing the sizes. Using tongs to place the pom poms into the cylinders helped strengthen their fine motor skills This activity allowed the children to explore mathematical thinking, concepts and language! Well done Poppies!
