25.01.2022 The new @botanicabar.com.au loudspeaker system is up and running! Due to the long skinny venue and the previous subwoofer configuration, consistency of the sub bass was poor, and high on our list of priorities to solve. 16 (sixteen) 12 subwoofers in four cabinets form a bass array suspended on the ceiling and provide deep, smooth bass coverage the length of the venue and into the loft bar above. A dual-opposing configuration of the subwoofer drivers was chosen to minimis...e transmission of vibration into the structure, to minimise the excitation of structural resonances (rattles!) The previous installation used eight undersized speakers in the main bar, which resulted in significant pattern overlap and generally poor intelligibility, as well as several blown drivers. This has been reduced to just three, with greater directivity control and much lower distortion, providing more clean output while significantly improving clarity and tonal consistency. The CNC-cut driver grilles are matched to the venue aesthetic, along with @osmoholzundcolor coated birch cabinetry to match other joinery. It’s got an initial @yamaha_proaudio_official MTX tune and will be revised over the weekend now we’ve got furnishings to consider, but pop in for a drink and check out our most recent work!

24.01.2022 Fire Sale! We love innovating. Time away from gigs has somewhat fast tracked our long term ‘hifi’ projects as research & development moves to the top of the task list. But it comes at a cost - more than just our time, as we test our way through a world of loudspeaker components and peripheral equipment (not cheap ones...) And though we’re making good progress defining a product and putting it to market, we need to offload some gear, the store is reaching capacity! So we’...re sticking to what we know, but bending the rules a little and will be offering a small batch of integrated listening systems at prices that will never be repeated. Initially we will be offering five pairs, in two build trims. The first tier will include Bluetooth connectivity, and a higher end version will include digital ins and balanced audio. Components used in the builds present ‘as new’ and most of them have only been used in a test situation for a matter of minutes. 07.01.2022 A few months ago we advertised two systems built with ex-test components leftover from our R&D process. A couple of months later and this is the result. . Our high frequency waveguide used in this design offers best in class pattern response, it’s specifically designed to match this particular high frequency driver with exacting tolerances. A solid Tasmanian oak baffle houses the waveguide, tweeter and 7 midbass driver, the cabinet is built from birch plywood. These systems are active, with power and control from Hypex. . While these were a one off, please contact us directly if you’re interested in having a set commissioned for your space - be it studio or living room.
