22.01.2022 FROZEN TREAT FRIDAY! Treat your pet to a pet friendly summer treat

22.01.2022 PARVOVIRUS "I live out of town and my dog doesn't leave the yard" - Parvo lives in the soil and can be carried onto your property on car tyres shoes and also through other infected dogs that may visit.... "My dog had a vaccination at 6 weeks old" - Dogs are not fully protected until 10 days after their 12 week old vaccination, followed by yearly vaccinations for life WARNING SIGNS Lethargy and Inappetance (not eating), vomiting diarrhoea and DEATH TREATMENT Treatment can be costly painful and the outcome isn't always good The dog spends days in isolation (often depressed) and it breaks our hearts as animal lovers to witness, when it could have been prevented with a vaccination that costs less than $100

07.01.2022 PET OF THE WEEK Meet ‘Olaf’, the 9 month old Ragdoll During routine vaccinationshealth-checks as a kitten, a prominent growth was noticed on the upper jaw near one of his canines. At follow-up appointments the mass appeared to be growing and a biopsy was recommended to be sent off for tests. The Biopsy results came back as a amelioblastic tumour (cancer). Three weeks after first noticing the lump Olaf was sent for dental x-rays and referred to a specialist. Shortly af...ter, surgery was undertaken by a visiting specialist at the Pittsworth Vet Surgery to remove the cancer affecting the upper jaw. This involved three teeth including the surrounding jaw being removed. Overall the surgery went very well with only mild facial distortion. Olaf was an absolute legend during this whole procedure and on wake-up he was ready for a feed and a cuddle. Positive outcomes like this make our job so rewarding!
