25.01.2022 Mick Glasheen benefit. Friends and family of the champion of Pittwater public land, artist Mick Glasheen, are holding a Benefit Exhibition to assist in Micks recovery from a series of mini strokes. The benefit runs for four days from this Saturday (June 27-30) at Paddingtons Cooee Art Gallery and will continue online thereafter. In 2018, Mick contributed around $40,000 from the proceeds of sales from his Drawing on the Land Garigal Country exhibition and neighbour dona...tions towards the NSW Governments and NB Councils purchase of property in Hillside Road, Newport (adjoining Porter Reserve). Now his friends are asking the community to reciprocate, if they can. The exhibition will feature works from Drawing on the Land Garigal Country including paintings, drawings and works on paper, plus 360-degree Virtual Reality. It will also feature previously unseen works from Micks studio. All proceeds to help Mick. Address is 326 Oxford Street; more info Adrian Newstead 0412 126 645 or cooeeart.com.au #Pittwater #Newport #Cooeeartgallery #Paddington See more

15.01.2022 FURTHER RESTRICTIONS TO EASE ON SATURDAY NSW will ease further restrictions from this Saturday, 13 June, with food courts allowed to reopen, the number of people allowed to visit homes increased from 5 to 20, and the number of people allowed to gather outdoors increased from 10 to 20. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said these changes are another step towards seeing NSW reopen in a COVID-safe way.... NSW acted quickly to introduce restrictions to tackle the spread of COVID-19 and I am determined for us to move as quickly as possible out of them, Ms Berejiklian said. We have been a world leader in dealing with COVID-19 and I want us to be an example on how to reopen an economy in a COVID-safe way. We will shortly have more to say on easing further restrictions across the state from 1 July, which will keep as many people in jobs as possible. Health Minister Brad Hazzard said every decision the NSW Government is making in relation to easing restrictions is informed by health advice. NSW has now gone two full weeks without detecting a single case of recent community transmission of COVID-19 - this is a testament to the hard work of the community, Mr Hazzard said. The cooperation of the public and business, and our high rates of testing, remain our greatest weapons to stamping out community transmission so its vital people continue to come forward. Food courts must have a COVID safe plan in place when they reopen on Saturday, this will include: Abiding by the 4 square metre rule; A maximum of 50 people per separate seated eating area; and Enhanced hygiene and cleaning processes. 12.01.2022 Just in: HEALTH ADVICE UPDATE ON MASKS: The NSW Government is strongly encouraging greater use of masks in high-risk public settings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The advice from the NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant specifically recommends: The use of face masks in indoor settings where physical distancing is hard to maintain, such as on public transport or in supermarkets; The use of face masks (where practical) in indoor settings with a... higher risk of transmission, such as for the staff of hospitality and customer-facing venues i.e. cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs; and During attendance at places of worship. Wearing a mask in any of these settings is not mandatory but is highly recommended, especially in areas where there has been community transmission. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said a mask is not a substitute for physical distancing. People should continue to maintain their physical distance it is our most effective weapon. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you cant maintain your physical distance you should wear a mask, Ms Berejiklian said. It is critical the community understands masks should be used in conjunction with other measures, and not as a standalone measure. Masks should be considered a fourth line of defence after staying home if unwell and getting tested, maintaining 1.5-metre social distancing and good hand hygiene. It is imperative the community understands if they have symptoms they should immediately be tested and self-isolate. The use of properly constructed cloth masks is acceptable. However, its important they are: Ideally made from three layers of breathable fabric to ensure adequate protection; and Washed after each use or at least daily. Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said masks are not suitable for everyone such as young children. Currently in NSW, the rate of community transmission does not call for mandatory mask use in the general population, Dr Chant said. However, along with practising good hand-hygiene, people are encouraged to wear face masks particularly in indoor settings where physical distancing is hard to maintain, such as on public transport. Most of all, stay home if you are unwell. NSW Health is continuing to monitor the situation and provide timely advice to the Government on the best defence against this once-in-a-100-year pandemic. 10.01.2022 UPDATE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS More restrictions have eased across NSW today as we move towards reopening the economy in a COVID-safe way, with people urged to maintain physical distancing. Health Minister Brad Hazzard said it is vital both businesses and patrons follow health and safety guidelines, to ensure we keep people in jobs and businesses in business.... We need to accept life will be different until we have an effective treatment or a vaccine, Mr Hazzard said. Everyone should maintain physical distancing and practise good hygiene, and if even the mildest symptoms present such as a sore throat or runny nose, get yourself tested. A simple tip advocated by health experts is to act as if you are infectious which will help you think twice about how you interact around others, as more restrictions are eased. From today, 1 June, the following will be allowed: Pubs, clubs, casinos, cafes and restaurants can have up to 50 customers per separate seated food and drink area; Travel to regional NSW for a holiday; Up to 50 people can attend places of worship and attend a funeral; Up to 20 guests can attend weddings; Zoos, aquariums and reptile parks are allowed to open; Beauty, nail, tanning and waxing salon operators can begin treatments; Camping grounds and caravan parks can open; and Museums, galleries and libraries are allowed to open. All businesses reopening must comply with the one person per four square metre rule. There is also provision for business to have COVIDSafe plans in place. A link to industry guidelines is here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/industry-guidelines The rules on gathering remain the same: five visitors to a home, and 10 people outside. 09.01.2022 READY, SET, GO GYMS AND KIDS SPORT RETURNS Gymnasiums, yoga, indoor pools and dance studios can reopen within a fortnight and kids sport can resume across NSW from 1 July, as more COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Deputy Premier John Barilaro has thanked the community for its patience while the Government works through its COVID-19 recovery plan that is built around health advice.... Im proud of this State for following the health advice and flattening the curve to such a point, where we can now re-introduce kids sports and open gyms, Mr Barilaro said. Sport and exercise boosts morale and this is exactly what NSW needs right now. From 13 June, the following will be allowed: Fitness, gymnasiums, pilates, yoga and dance studios can reopen with up to 10 people per class and 100 people in an indoor venue; Community centres, including their recreational facilities can reopen; Some indoor recreational facilities including pools and saunas can also reopen with restricted numbers; Tattoo and massage parlours can reopen with up to 10 clients The four square metre rule must be applied at all times. Community sport competitions can restart for those aged 18 years and under from 1 July. Health Minister Brad Hazzard said COVID-19 safety plans for each activity or sport are critical to enable this re-start. Sport and businesses will need to do things a little differently than in pre-COVID-19 times and following their safety plan is key to keeping people safe, Mr Hazzard said. Re-opening kids sporting competitions on 1 July gives groups and local government which manages many of these facilities, time to work through all the new changes. Acting Minister for Sport, Geoff Lee said indoor and outdoor community sports for those aged 18 years and under are ready to return from 1 July. Children and young people will be thrilled they can get together with friends and teammates again and I am sure parents will welcome the news too, Mr Lee said. NSW loves sport, and I am so pleased clubs and organisations will now be able to plan their fixtures list for their seasons to resume. A decision on a potential return date for adult community sport will be made at a later stage. #Pittwater

To minimise the risk of transmission "it remains essential that everyone" maintains social distancing and regularly wash hands. #Pittwater

08.01.2022 We are back with a significant development... COVID-19 Update Face masks will be mandatory from midnight tonight. Restrictions in the Northern Zone of the Northern Beaches remain the same until January 9 (however, according to the Premier Gladys Berejiklian, this is the "worst case scenario" so, maybe there will be some good news before then!). Restrictions have been eased for residents in the Southern Zone.... Get the facts here: Source: Gladys Berejiklian and Brad Hazzard media statement. From midnight tonight, the southern zone of the Northern Beaches will be subject to the same restrictions as Greater Sydney. Restrictions for the northern zone of the Northern Beaches remain the same with stay at home orders in place until 9 January 2021; No visitors to the home. Five northern zone residents can gather outdoors (not at homes) for exercise and recreation, from within the same zone. Non-essential businesses remain closed. Given the general risk in Greater Sydney, new measures are required to reduce the transmission potential of COVID-19 while maintaining economic activity. The following measures for Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains) are effective from midnight tonight; Face masks will be mandatory in the following indoor settings: shopping (retail, supermarkets and shopping centres), public/shared transport, indoor entertainment (including cinemas and theatres), places of worship, hair and beauty premises. Face masks will also be mandatory for all staff in hospitality venues and casinos and for patrons using gaming services. Compliance will start from Monday, 4 January 2021 with $200 on the spot fines for individuals for non-compliance. Children under 12 are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable. Gym classes reduced to 30 people. Places of worship and religious services limited to 1 person per 4sqm up to a maximum of 100 people per separate area. Weddings and funerals limited to 1 person per 4sqm up to a maximum of 100 people. Outdoor performances and protests reduced to 500 people. Controlled, outdoor gatherings (seated, ticketed, enclosed) reduced to 2,000 people. Night clubs not permitted. People are still encouraged to limit non-essential gatherings and reduce their mobility where possible to further minimise the risk of transmission in the community. :Whilst these measures do not apply to areas outside Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains), we urge all residents and visitors across the State to practise COVID safe behaviours and get tested even if symptoms are mild." #Pittwater #northernbeaches

07.01.2022 COVID-19 Update. 1pm Dec 22: Premier thanks residents. Only eight new locally-acquired coronavirus cases have been recorded in NSW on another record day for daily testing rates. Seven of the new cases are linked to the Avalon cluster while the eighth is a nurse who was working with returned overseas travellers, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed. More than 44,000 tests were reported in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday. Ms Berejiklian praised people in the northern beaches ...and across NSW for the high number of tests being conducted. "That is a record we did not expect and I feel so proud and deeply grateful that people have responded," she said. Ms Berejiklian added the government would revisit restrictions again on Wednesday. Even though the number of cases are relatively low the number of venues grows, and this increases our area of concern," she said. We’ll make an announcement tomorrow on what the future of the situation on the Northern Beaches and greater Sydney, will be." Ms Berejiklian thanked northern beaches residents for staying at home during the lockdown and acknowledged those who will be in isolation during Christmas and the New Year period. "We are thinking of you and thanking you because you being safe and protecting you and your loved ones is also helping the rest of NSW," she said. #Pittwater #northernbeaches See more
