23.01.2022 Satellite Spotlight Q: Why is a satellite phone essential for remote travel? A: With many remote locations not being covered by traditional mobile networks, satellite phones are a cost-effective communication option for coverage, no matter where you are travelling. ... Satellite phones are often thought of as expensive and hard to operate, but this is not the case! Satellite phones allow travellers to: - Keep in touch while off the beaten track - Let family and friends know you’re okay and stay up to date with travel plans - Operate similar to a mobile phone, with features such as standard ‘04’ numbers - If the worst was to happen, provides a vital line of communication to emergency responders

17.01.2022 Q: What are the key functions of a satellite phone? A: While most satellite phones will provide voice and SMS connectivity, not all satellite phones are equal. There are satellite phones available in the Australian market that have local ‘04’ phone numbers and there are others that have complex international numbers. ... The ‘04’ mobile number means incoming calls and SMS are charged at standard Australian mobile rates, which means the calls are usually free to the caller (as most mobile phone and landline bundles provide unlimited standard mobile phones calls). There are satellite phones available that can turn your smartphone into a mobile phone - providing additional features like email and accessing certain low bandwidth apps while travelling outside of cellular coverage.

13.01.2022 WhichCar takes a look at satellite messengers, how they work and why you need one. "A satellite messenger differs from a satellite phone as it allows the user to send and receive messages; a satellite phone, on the other hand, will, in addition to sending/receiving messages, allow voice calls to be made." Take a look.
