25.01.2022 Meet Senray... The PKF Sydney & Newcastle Employee of the Year for FY19/20. Ever the professional, Senray is known in the Business Recovery and Insolvency Team as a cool head no matter the situation. His team look up to him and learn from his calm attitude and high quality work. This has led to him being seen as a rising star within the team and with clients and referrers who are confident in appointing Senray directly with high profile engagements. We took five minutes to ge...t to know Senray a little better: Q. Tell us something that not many people know A. I have a fear of knives (in fact, a fear of getting cut, including paper cuts) but I like cooking. If I had more free time I would probably use it to smoke food. Q. Who has been the greatest influence on you in your career? A. Past and present partners in the Business Recovery and Insolvency division at PKF. Brad Tonks and Mark Roufeil are continuing to guide me in my development as a insolvency practitioner. Q. What book are you reading at the moment? A. I’m trying to read Lord of the Rings but the movies are so much easier to follow. Discover more about Senray here: https://hubs.ly/H0Cxx1b0 #wearepkf #meetourteam #employeeoftheyear

25.01.2022 Many of us spend more time at work than we do at home and it can therefore be our workmates that see changes in us that are warning signs that we’re struggling to cope and our mental health is vulnerable. Many people are unsure of what to say, or how to approach the situation and often we hope that it will just sort itself out or that someone else will address the issue. PKF Sydney and Newcastle is a proud supporter of R U OK?Day, today and always. Now more than ever, we need to encourage discussions, spread the message and keep the conversation going after "are you OK?".

22.01.2022 2020 has been a tough year for many of us. The charity sector has been hit particularly hard with fundraising events cancelled and the economy suffering. But winter is upon us and the Mark Hughes Foundation Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign is in full swing. The PKF team regularly puts its hand up to volunteer to assist in beanie packaging and take part in fundraising activity and last year, in 2019, PKF Director Andrew Beattie took on Mount Kilimanjaro (the tallest mountain i...n Africa) with Mark Hughes and 18 other volunteers to raise money for the Foundation. But, being COVID-aware, we weren’t able to help the way we’d like to. We were able to put our hands in our pockets and buy a beanie for every team member across the PKF Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle team for the third year in a row. That’s more than 220 beanies! And our team are proudly wearing them everywhere they go. Brain cancer unfortunately doesn’t take a break for a pandemic and the Mark Hughes Foundation needs you more than ever. Head to https://beanie.markhughesfoundation.com.au/ to purchase yours and support this great cause. The Beanie campaign is paving the way for brain cancer research, the money raised goes directly to finding a cure, better treatments, and patient care.

21.01.2022 The last quarter of FY19/20 saw us enter into a new way of life with the COVID-19 pandemic dominating our news, our working life and our personal life. Whilst there have been many negatives, there have also been positives, as many of us have spent more time at home with family, life has slowed down a little and we have found time to re-focus on those simple things in life that really matter. The pandemic continues to bring concern and uncertainty, but this offers the opportu...nity to pivot and challenge the norms. This edition of Pulse focuses on exactly that, the positivity that can come from an event, that no one saw coming. https://pkf.com.au//200915-pulse-spring-edition-2020-final

08.01.2022 Andrew Beattie is a Business Advisory and Corporate Finance Director and is based in our Newcastle office. 07.01.2022 October is Breast Care Awareness month and PKF would normally have held its Annual Breast Care Breakfast with the support of the Newcastle Herald and the The Wests Group. This event couldn’t happen without the guest speakers, sponsors, raffle donors and guests and we look forward to welcoming you back to support the Hunter Nurse Education Group in 2021.
