24.01.2022 Renew Economy: [Finally, a push to crack down on dodgy solar panel and inverters] The Clean Energy Council has outlined new rules and standards that will allow it to delist rooftop solar modules and inverter products that fail to meet safety and performance standards, or do not deliver on marketing and warranty claims.... The CEC says the new initiatives will allow it to take action against suppliers that fail to meet standards, and it will also introduce a random testing program for solar panels and inverters to ensure that the actual performance of products being sold in Australia live up to their marketing claims. The initiatives have been welcomed by the solar industry, and are considered long overdue. Australia is ranked as possibly the cheapest market in the world for rooftop solar installations, but that is at least partly because a small, but significant section of the market is, well, cheap in price and cheap in nature.

21.01.2022 Live Power Meters are in Perth! As well as the conventional equipment, they also now have new Gateway devices. These are combination devices that include the network comms inside the display, and come in 1,4 and 10 channel (to the web) models.... Optional extras also include temperature sensing transmitters and optical meter interfaces. New transmitters (due in May) will be running updated C2+ software/hardware, enabling 3 channels of data collection (independent channels) per transmitter, as opposed to 1 channel per transmitter. Please indicate your interest in the equipment, as we will be making a purchase order for what our customers need. Anyone waiting (patiently) for their bonus system meter will be automatically included for the BASE KIT. Please indicate if you would like more than the base kit! It's the 1 channel kit that we include with PV systems, which is necessary to see your live Power consumption. If you would like extra functionality, consider the 4 and 10 channel Gateways for a little bit extra ($30 & $50 respectively). Extra transmitters and clamps can be ordered also.

19.01.2022 Finally - we have stock of the new Live Power Meters! Here is the new Wireless Gateway in action. These replace the Bridge device, previously used with the EnviR displays, as they include the network adapter inside them. This makes them a neater package. I can also report that the range of the Gateway display/receiver appears to have improved upon the EnviR display/receiver.... You'll get 1 channel upload for free to the Current Cost portal, and can subscribe for extra channels for a nominal fee, for 24 months. Don't forget - many try to install these for PV, but many fail. We however, understand the dynamics of metering & signal sampling. This gives you the TRUE consumption data on your main channel, as opposed to distorted mixed data. Look forward to seeing us soon for your meter installs!

You would have heard the urgent calls, pushing listeners to "hurry & buy our system now before the rebates are cut". With this in mind, we would like to forewarn of the impending reduction in credits from January 1, 2017. It is a 6.6% reduction, and this is set to occur again every following year.... We highly recommend getting yourself prepared to install your PV system in the next 6 months. PPS

In addition to the current 30% tax break on <$20k purchases for small business, there is also an alternative. LEASED POWER PLAN: We can provide a rental option that frees up your cash-flow, but still provides you the savings of generating your own electricity. In most cases, this option is cash-flow positive from day 1, as the combined NET monthly outlay of your reduced electricity bill + plan payments are less than your current non-solar bills. 07.01.2022 Exciting developments with SolarEdge inverter systems: IOT has arrived, and now you can automatically or remotely control your loads to maximise your solar PV self-usage. This includes: ~ 3kW electrically boosted storage HWS control. The inverter system will automatically regulate excess PV energy into the HWS element, effectively storing your solar power as hot water, for later use. This includes solar HWS with electric elements, or regular storage HWS with electric heating.... ~ 2.5kW wireless remote controlled GPO sockets with inbuilt metering. Automatically or remote control 10A socket outlets using the web or phone app, log usage of the loads, set equipment or appliances up to run when you have excess PV energy available. 06.01.2022 Here is a screenshot of a system with 50/50 N/E & N/W array. These systems tend to perform really well, and stretch out production across the day. The yield of each string can be seen independently, and the combined effect is shown in the total generation curve of the system. ... Note how the "pm" string's output ramps up as the "am" string ramps down in the afternoon in order to maintain the peak inverter performance.
05.01.2022 Update for all Current Cost web portal users: There is a recent development with the servers from the Xiveley & Current Cost. New installations of the Gateway devices are programmed to report to the Energomonitor server/portal, however earlier Gateway devices were reporting to the CurrentCost/Xiveley servers.... The Enegromonitor server is running smooth, however there has been recent interruption to the CC/Xiveley servers. There is no indication as to how long this might be. The good news is, anyone with a CurrentCost labelled Gateway device can have theirs remotely upgraded to the new server & portal. https://www.energomonitor.com/ The upgrade is non reversible, but you will find the Energo dashboard is quite good. Once upgraded, you will need to register your device to begin viewing & logging live data. We are still waiting to hear if the Bridge device can also be updated, however it has not been mentioned as yet. If the Bridge devices cannot be diverted to the new server, users can purchase the new Gateway device as a replacement. The Gateway is a replacement for the Bridge - it receives all your Transmitter data, plus has a built in network adapter. This frees up your existing EnviR displays to be placed anywhere you like, without needing to be hardwired to your Bridge device. The EnviR displays are very good for live local power monitoring of your channels, due to the large LCD screens. The Gateways are aimed more at receiving & uploading data to the web portals.
