Tip two to prevent the spread of germs, and lower the risk of cross-contamination while you're preparing food for your family is... Chill! Your fridge plays a crucial part in keeping food safe, and as a general rule, you should never leave perishable food out for longer than two hours before it goes back in the fridge. If the temperature is over 32.2 degrees celcius, then your leftovers should go into the fridge within an hour - it doesn't take long for food to become unsafe. 19.01.2022 How is everyone surviving the first week back of school? I know I already am feeling tired, let alone the kids! Luckily during the holidays we did some baking to be a little more prepared for starting school lunches again! ... And this muffin recipe is so easy! It is simply the Pancake Easy Meal mix, 4 tablespoons honey, 2 carrots and 2 bananas. Grate the carrot, mash the banana, add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix. Place in a greased muffin tin and bake in a 180C oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Simple! A great, fun and easy activity for kids of all ages to get involved in. If you can resist eating them all, once cool, pop them in the freezer and add to your child's lunchbox (or your own!) as a snack. Handy tip: we used some bananas we had stored away in the freezer for this recipe - when your bananas are going brown, don't throw them out! Pop them in the freezer and they are perfect for when needing a banana for cakes, muffins, pancakes, banana bread....mmmmm...yum! I might need to do some more baking!)

08.01.2022 Today's Easy Meal hack is another simple one but oh so delicious!! Cheese and chive scones, takes the scone from something that is typically sweet to something savoury! Simply add 100g (1 cup) shredded cheese - you can buy this pre-packed at the Healthy Food Co stores and 1/2 cup chopped chives (either fresh or dried) to the mixture when making. ... A great recipe to get the kids involved with (both the making and eating!!) Freeze and pull out for an afternoon snack, for entertaining or for lunchboxes. I personally just have them on their own (particularly straight out the oven..... mmmmm), but they are equally as delicious with a little bit of margarine or cream cheese.

08.01.2022 Last week we were very fortunate to be able to squeeze in a cheesemaking session with our Foodie volunteers before the lockdown. It was such a fun and eye opening experience! I certainly didn't know that simply some milk and 1 or 2 extra ingredients, differing temperatures and differing set times would result in a variety of different cheeses! We made (and successfully I might add! ) light cream cheese, cottage cheese, feta and halloumi. ... Share with us something that you have made from scratch. I'd love to hear your stories and get inspired! Although I wouldn't say it was necessarily cheaper than buying pre-made cheese at the supermarket, it was definitely a fun, educational process and it gave us an appreciation for the time and effort that is spent in making cheese (I was so excited thinking we would eating our delicious work for afternoon tea but was sad to learn that some of the cheeses wouldn't be ready for over 30 hours!) Who would like to undertake a cheesemaking session with us next time
