14.01.2022 PLCAA President 2020-2021 ACCEPTANCE AND INSPIRATIONAL SPEECH Good day everyone. It is indeed, a great honour to be elected as President of PLCAA for the 3rd term. I am delighted and deeply grateful that once again you placed your faith and trust in me. My involvement with this outstanding association is my pride and joy. I pledge my commitment and dedication to PLCAA, to continue our aspiration in promoting our Filipino culture, values, customs and traditions within the... context of a Multicultural Society. In the aftermath of the devastating bushfires and droughts that recently claimed severe losses to both lives and properties nation-wide, we thought, we could move on. But now, we are experiencing the worst - a critical health issue around the world, the deadly Coronavirus. This dreadful pandemic, will forever change the face of the earth and fill our lives with extreme sadness and fear. Never in our history had anything like this happened. At the moment, a lockdown restriction has been imposed to suppress the spread of this disease. Stay home, Stay safe. In spite of all of these, PLCAA decided to have an online AGM and Election of Officers 2020. At this point, I found an overwhelming fulfilment, looking back at what we had accomplished. And with enthusiam, looking forward to our future endeavours together, as one remarkable association, which I am deeply honoured to serve and to be a part of. On the 12th of June, we are celebrating the 122nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, Kalayaan 2020 Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan at Ligtas. Kalayaan 2020 Towards a Free, United and Safe Nation. We pay tribute to this significant event, which is a culmination of all the sacrifices, the battles, and the triumphs, our Ancestors underwent to achieve our Independence. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of you, our hardworking PLCAA Team. Together, we will join hands in fulfilling and celebrating cultural diversity and mutual respect. God bless us all. Salamat Po. Mabuhay! Aida Basto PLCAA President 2020-2021

04.01.2022 Kudos to the hardworking Officers, Board Directors and Members ...

03.01.2022 Dear Mayor Clr Ross Fowler OAM, The celebration of the 122nd anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held at the St Marys Corner Community and Cultural Precinct on Saturday, 13 June 2020 was made meaningful by your recognition of the significance of this day. Your message was read and would be featured at PLCAA website and facebook. The event went very well. Penrith Council Officer Craig Field has impressed us of his diligent attention to details necessary... in the ceremony. The new flags to be raised were prepared on time and there were no difficulties whatsoever in the flag ceremony. Penrith Council Officer Craig Field has created a congenial atmosphere making us feel that His Worship the Mayor of the City of Penrith and Penrith Council have graced this special celebration. On behalf of the Philippine Language and Cultural Association of Australia, ( PLCAA), I would like to thank you, His Worship the Mayor of the City of Penrith for your kind support. We also thank Executive Assistant Marie Maher, the Neighbourhood Facilities Team and Penrith Council Officer Craig Field for their assistance in making this event successful considering the limited time we had in its preparation. PLCAA was pleased in seeing the grounds clean and nicely prepared for the ceremony. I have attached photos one of which was with Penrith Council Officer Craig Field. He joined us with no hesitation making the photo sessions real fun and important. Sincerely yours, Aida Basto PLCAA President Dr Alexis Leones PLCAA Secretary and Public Officer
