24.01.2022 When we opened our doors earlier this year, we knew we had created something special. But as Covid hit and we had to close our doors, we worried about our future ... Well we didn't need to worry, we've gone from strength to strength with the strong guidance of our staff, the support from our amazing families and most importantly - our beautiful, fun-loving, eager-learning preschoolers. In a few short weeks, we'll be farewelling our very first preschool graduates. And we'll be getting ready to welcome our newest cohort of children to our preschool. This is one special place and we couldn't be prouder of what our preschoolers have achieved in 2020! We are excited for an even bigger 2021. We hope you enjoy our little video which showcases our preschool so beautifully.

24.01.2022 Remote learning is just not the same for us without our bright and bubbly gorgeous preschoolers on site with us so we are excited to have some of you back. Every day we spend time reading stories with our preschoolers as we know it's an essential stage of pre-literacy development. Reading with children helps them to explore the concept of text, build an understanding that words carry meaning, allows them to play with words and explore new concepts. It is also a special ...time to build a shared love of books and the magical worlds that books can provide. Purposefully built to encourage exploration and build your child's imagination, it's one of our favourite areas to play with the children. We see so many beautiful interactions between our preschoolers, gorgeous friendships being created and so much imaginative play. The children can't wait to get outside each day to explore

23.01.2022 Today we opened the doors to our new PLC Sydney Preschool There was so much excitement from our gorgeous new preschoolers (and our gorgeous new teachers) that we couldn't have asked for a better start. The day was filled with exploring inside and out, starting new friendships, dressing up, painting, cutting and colouring. Their little imaginations are limitless and what this year will bring is endless. There was barely a tear dropped. We are so excited about our amazing new preschool and the smile on these little faces says it all.

22.01.2022 Our preschool is full of budding junior scientists - they bring so much passion and fascination when we do science experiments. Recently they were very intrigued to learn that oil and water aren't friends and repel each other when mixed! They were making lava lamps and loved every minute of it

21.01.2022 As we wrap up 2021, we are grateful for many things, and even more so given the difficulties that our community has faced this year. We are most grateful that we could spend a large part of term 4 face to face with our precious preschoolers, doing what we all love. We have witnessed incredible learning taking place and we are hugely proud of the children who have gone through our school readiness program. We are confident they are now well-equipped for their start of primary school in 2022 We can't wait to see lots of familiar faces back in 2022 and we so look forward to welcoming many new little faces into the PLC Sydney Preschool family. 20.01.2022 We are very excited to be celebrating our 1st birthday today A year ago when we opened our doors, we only had a small number of families and were stopped quickly in our tracks by COVID-19. But a year on and we now fill 2 classrooms with an amazing group of preschoolers who are learning huge amounts every day. Recently we have all been loving the idea of using a dice in various games to help us quickly recognise quantities and make connections between different number concepts. 14.01.2022 We love watching our preschoolers creativity when they take to an art project Art allows them to express their thoughts and ideas in different ways while exploring colour, space, texture and dimension. It also forms a key part of their literacy development as they build an awareness that different marks carry meaning and that they can tell a story through their paintings or drawings. Through art, we encourage our preschoolers to discover, communicate and reflect. While it might look like we are simply playing, we have been using our higher order thinking skills as we develop our coding know-how using the Bee Bots. Understanding coding incorporates a range of 21st century skills that will help prepare us for the future

Knowing we are helping to make a difference to children and their families and preparing the next generation with a thirst for learning fills us right up to the top with happiness

09.01.2022 This week we have spent time discussing bush tucker and how Aboriginal people use plants in a range of ways. This discussion led to us making our own lime and mint tea that we drank together as we had a yarn. We then set up a new learning area to incorporate conversations about Aboriginal history. We plan to continue exploring the concept of 'bush tucker' and begin researching how to have our own special 'bush tucker' garden at preschool as a way to respect and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land

09.01.2022 Before our learning became remote, our preschoolers were focussing on map making and using the beebots to explore maps and community. Despite being young, technology comes as second nature to our littlest people and they've been learning how to code and use technology to complete tasks focusing on STEM. This will continue to be a focus for us in our remote learning space ...

09.01.2022 We've been learning all about the importance of good dental hygiene, with our preschoolers very busy practising their teeth brushing skills. They've been finding out all the ways to take special care of their teeth and love to really give a good brush to the huge set of teeth we have in the classroom

04.01.2022 Snakes have been a huge area of interest for our preschoolers so when our PLC Sydney Animal Exhibits Officer brought a snake over for our children to get up close with - well the excitement on their faces was absolutely priceless. We are fortunate to have some wonderful resources from PLC Sydney that we can share with our gorgeous preschoolers. The theme of snakes was then carried throughout our learning and became a focus of interest. The children got to see and touch a snake skin that our Director found near her home as well!

They were writing her letters and leaving them at the little door and then waiting to see if she replied - which she magically always did. 29.12.2021 Did you know that not all cute little creatures with spots on them are a lady bugs? These interesting beetles are actually very different; they are lady bugs that originated in China Insects and bugs are always fascinating, and the children love investigating in the outdoor play area looking for new insects to learn about. It’s magical seeing all the different ways our investigations can take us.

15.12.2021 As the children prepare to transition to school, it is amazing to see their phonological awareness come through. We have been practicing writing our names and writing sentences and we love the confidence that is coming through as well as the great writing that is being done without any support or prompting from a teacher. We are super excited to see our children make the transition into school next year knowing they are continually building the skills they need.

With all the ups and downs of 2021, we are grateful and excited to have our giving tree set up again this year.
