19.01.2022 Our '#PlenaHealthcare Treasure Chest' initiative has delivered gold again! The initiative which allows staff to use funds to brighten the day of their clients, received a heartwarming submission from our Geelong based Physiotherapist, Ryan Ogden this week. Ryan has been working with client, Ron Jones for some time now & in one of their regular chats, Ron mentioned he'd served in the Air Force during the 1940's. Ron spoke about being part of a radar battalion & fighting in 'Th...e battle of Milne Bay' in PNG. Intrigued by his story, Ryan went home & began researching war archives on Google, before stumbling across a book titled the 'Milne Bay Radar'. Although Ryan was sure Ron would've already seen this book, he purchased it anyway but was surprised when it arrived in the mail that the entire book was about Ron's battalion. The book referenced Ron & 46 of his mates, telling their stories & experiences in PNG, along with photos of 20yr old Ron. When Ryan presented Ron with the book at their next visit, Ron was completely surprised as he wasn't aware the book even existed & was quite overwhelmed! "It was amazing to watch Ron flick through each page & recognise his old mates. Ron really appreciated the acknowledgement of his efforts during the war all those years ago." Well done to Ryan for doing such a kind act and thank you to Ron for the efforts of yourself and the efforts of the no.37 radar division

04.01.2022 We love hearing heartwarming tales- especially leading up to Christmas. Plena Healthcare Physiotherapist, Thuy Nguyen has been spreading Christmas Cheer at the Freemasons site in Hobart... I discovered that some of my residents and their family members are very big fans of a local ABC TV news presenter here in Tasmania and watch him religiously every night. So, to help brighten their day and have a bit of fun, I organised the news presenter to write them a personal Christma...s card. They of course were very surprised, very delighted and felt it made their Christmas! One of these delighted residents was Dorothy, pictured below holding the special card. Thank you Thuy for arranging such a thoughtful gesture!
