This is just one reason why your throne should be in good working order.. also to avoid that cringe worthy feeling when your guests visit your loo. Plastic cisterns deteriorate over time. The plastic breaks down due to cleaners and age. It becomes chalky and changes from white in colour to shades of yellow. ... A simple and inexpensive option is to replace the old cistern with a new plastic one. Due to WELS water saving products now on the market, cistern sizes have changed over the years becoming smaller. This can leave unsightly screw holes and or unmatched paint work after installation. The Caroma Slimline Cistern with seat was the perfect choice for this job. Dimensions were researched, quote issued, gear ordered and a super job completed by Tradesperson Josh. No plaster or paint work were necessary. 12.01.2022 A quick 5 minute inspection to your homes flexible hoses could help you avoid a midnight disaster. This flexible hose (left) burst unexpectedly which created panic, water damage and no water supply until it was replaced and tested. Calling your plumber for an inspection is a great idea if you’re not confident with the warning signs. Split, frayed, rusted outer material or protruding bulges are just a few. 04.01.2022 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE Akins Plumbing conducted a static water pressure test from a clients mains water meter to the home. The gauge reading at 700kpa. This exceeds the Australian Plumbing Standards maximum operating pressure within buildings of 500kpa. High water pressure is a common reason why taps need to be serviced often. Over time, high water pressure creates grooves on the seat of the tap body which is usually smooth. When the tap is closed, the water seeps throu...gh the grooves creating a leak. This is the time people start to turn the tap off more firmly until it is not possible anymore. Reseating a tap body removes the grooves by taking off layers of rough surface. This leaves a smooth surface and seals of the washer to the body, creating a seal so water can't escape. This can only be performed a number of times over the years before the hot and cold combination needs to be replaced entirely. The installation of a pressure reduction valve is recommended. It caps the water pressure to a maximum of 500kpa. This will prolong the life of taps, plumbing fixtures and appliances in the home.
