If you hot water heater is in a cupboard or indoors you might want to check if you have a Mildred valve , these valves have a sensor attached to them which sits in a drip tray on under your hot water heater if it comes in contact with water it shuts the cold water supply off to your hot water heater in the event of a leak. The valve runs on batteries which need replacing every 12 months , it Ill also sound an alarm if the... batteries are getting low . 21.01.2022 Photos dont do much justice , this hot water was leaking all around from the anode at the top to of the hot water heater to around the bottom of the heater in a unit in Balgolwlah. Whenever you get called for a hot water heater in a unit cupboard you know its going to be tricky . When the kitchen was renovated the bench top was built around the hot water heater and it required me to cut the bottom shelf of the next cupboard to remove it. 21.01.2022 You may of heard about Lead in the taps or brass plumbing fittings over the years however on April 27th 2021 there was an article released for the renewed push to change brass fittings which are leaching poisonous lead. The Australian Building Code Board is about to release a new National Construction Code, with a key change to the allowable amount of lead from fittings reducing it from the current 6% to 0.25%. Research conducted has found more than half of tap water samples ...taken from households in NSW contained lead, one in 12 exceeded the maximum amount permitted by the water guidelines. The most used tap in any household is the kitchen tap, there is no safe level of lead it can cause neuro cognitive problems, its harmful to young children, it can affect their intellectual development. 15.01.2022 Here is a toilet from the outside everything looks good such as style , shape , colour . Looks can be deceiving as we know this is a toilet thats takes 2 - 3 full flushes to remove the toilet paper from the bowl it should only take 1. I was asked if I could adjust the outlet valve to allow more water to flush through the toilet bowl but that could not be done as the valve is working correctly. The problem with this toilet is a design flaw where the toilet paper sits in the ...bowl once the full flush has begun , the bowl is not big enough to be able to let the toilet paper be clearly flushed out . 14.01.2022 We attended this property in Seaforth for a blocked kitchen sink waste . After attempting to plunge the sink waste we inspected the layout of the drainage and found some issues . In the pictures below we found the previous plumber had installed the waste line with back fall which means the grade is not gravitating to the sewer line . This is what caused a fat blockage in the pipework . Wet wipes and more wet wipes , we retrieved a lot of these wet wipes from the sewer . In my opinion the wet wipes were getting caught around some dislodged pipework / junctions on the old earthenware clay pipework . Yes we do all types of plumbing here is the short video we are welding high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is used for Trade Waste services . The pipework allows for excessive temperatures from glass washing machines or oils from the commercial kitchen above to prevent them from blocking up or solidified fat getting caught on the inside of ...pipework. 07.01.2022 These steps will help you if you have a storage hot water tank. 1. Find where your hot water system is located and inspect the system to see if it has a rust accumulating at the bottom of it, this can be caused by a number of issues either the tank has no barrier between the bottom of the tank and the surrounding surfaces or the tank itself is rusting from the inside out. 2. Have you pulled the pressure relief valve on the side of the hot water tank within the last 3-6 months...? It is the valve with a little lever which should be pulled up to remove debris from the seat and keeping the valve maintained to be able to release water when needed. 3. Is there any damp wet spots or leaks around the hot water system? If the answer is yes you may require assistance with your hot water system, this is a sure sign the hot water system is on the way out. 4.Have you noticed browny coloured water when you have been showering or filling up the bath or basin? This pipework was fixed 1 week earlier by another plumber , the plumbers joins did not leak although the copper pipe work downstream was faulty and had a pin hole leak from the sandstone ground which caused this .
