08.01.2022 Logical Framework celebrates 50 years in International Development!! The Logical Framework was originally developed by NASA. In 1969 Leon Rosenberg a NASA Engineer was contracted by USAID to amend the NASA version of the Logical Framework to be used as a planning tool by USAID and in September 1970 was first used on USAID projects.... It took many years for the Logical Framework to spread to other agencies. DFID then called ODA introduced the Logical Framework in 1985. I remember being on one of the first training courses in Dhaka in 1985 led by some very engaging consultants from the USA who interspersed heavy sessions on indicators with magic shows. Over the years I have produced numerous Logical Frameworks and still find it a most useful tool to use. The process to formulate being a highlight. So many times we all think we have finished and then the next morning someone brings a new thought and back to basics we go. 02.01.2022 Stakeholder Analysis A really good understanding and investment in understanding ALL stakeholders in a project is critical for success. So often we do not do in depth and the consequences of not doing will play out in the long term.... I remember doing one for Shell in Nigeria where we brought in all those with interests in projects Shell was funding at the time. Over one hundred individuals all arguing over a Venn Diagram laid out over the extensive space in the hotel conference room. The noise! But the result, was a big YES and started the new project on the correct footing. There are many techniques you can use. This meant my rule of a video being less than 3 minutes has been broken this time and will mean you have take 5 minutes to watch.
