25.01.2022 FOOTWEAR ADVICE Good supportive footwear is essential for your feet especially growing feet. Children in particular require different footwear advice at different ages and for different activities. In some cases we recommend specific types of shoes to help with certain conditions such as an intoeing gait. We give advice on all types of footwear, for toddlers, school shoes, sports shoes and work shoes. The wear patterns on your current shoes tell is a lot about your foot mecha...nics and provide important information for the overall assessment so bring along any current or old shoes we can assess. If orthotic therapy is part of your treatment plan, your footwear is important and sometimes minor adjustments are required by your podiatrist. If the wear patterns are significant we may need to recommend new shoes before we issue orthoses. http://podiatry4kidsandadults.com.au/services/ See more

23.01.2022 CoVID Update! Victorian Government Road Map - Stage 4 Restrictions Step 2 Second step easing of restrictions for Podiatry under Allied Health now allows; travel from outside 5km to the clinic for new patients to attend for treatment but please only travel local where you can ... treatment for non-urgent conditions What does this mean? The main aim is to keep you functional in your day to day activities and work and to prevent further potential care in the medical/hospital system... You can attend if you are in pain if putting off treatment will lead to complications or pain you have a condition that also requires treatment with your Dr or other specialists (eg Medicare Worksafe and NDIS) you require follow up treatment post surgery What hasn’t changed ? routine care isn’t allowed - (if you are not in pain and can put your regular treatment off without this leading to complications) each time you attend the clinic you will still need to fill out the CoVID questionnaire and have your temperature taken a maximum of 4 people in one room at a time so limiting visits to just the person attending for treatment and a parent or carer if required face masks must be worn (12 years of age and over) as always please do not attend if you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms Podiatry4kids&adults continues to follow all the CoVID safe guidelines and we thank you all for you patience and ongoing support and look forward to seeing you all soon. Please contact Catherine for any further questions on 0418 454 069. Thank you. https://podiatry4kidsandadults.com.au/contact/ - See more

18.01.2022 DO YOU SUFFER FROM INGROWN TOENAILS? They can occur for all ages sometimes, even at birth and are common in age 12 to teenage years (sweaty feet that parents aren’t always monitoring closely!) Ingrown nails are most commonly the big toenails but can occur at any nail and result from a nail spike growing into the flesh of the toe. They are very painful often appear red and inflamed and weepy with pus. If left untreated they can become infected and require antibiotics. They are... often caused by not cutting the nail properly, poor fitting shoes or simply the involuted shape of the toenail. If you are in pain or suffering from an ingrown toenail give us a call on (03) 8680 4996 for an appointment. http://podiatry4kidsandadults.com.au/services/ See more

06.01.2022 A gait assessment involves watching you walk to assess the foot and the whole body’s mechanics to help diagnose either the pain/injury you present with or to advise you regarding potential issues that may arise as a result of poor mechanics. Your footwear wear patterns will also be assessed and tell us a lot about your gait. A biomechanical assessment includes assessing the foot and ankle for joint range of motion, joint positions and associated muscle/tendon tightness, leg length and pelvic alignment, hip range of motion, and the whole body’s posture on standing. This assessment is required to give the best advice regarding orthotic therapy if it’s indicated and to help us assess and advise you on the right treatment plan to resolve pain or prevent potential issues in future. http://podiatry4kidsandadults.com.au/services/

05.01.2022 Diabetics require specific assessments to assess vascular and neurological status which are completed annually and sometimes more frequently with high risk patients. This Assessment includes assessing your skin integrity, sensation and temperature, pedal pulses and ability to detect vibration. Routine foot care is often recommended so your podiatrist can keep a close check on your foot health. Diabetics are eligible for a Medicare Rebate on up to 5 visits per year but must be referred by a GP with an EPC plan and referral. http://podiatry4kidsandadults.com.au/services/
